Is it just me or does Julian Blackthorn give “Kaz Brekker if he was a family man/dad” vibes?
Because now i cant get this out of my head
Is it just me or is Eleven Eleven by Conan Gray so Kitty coded?
Thinking about Ty and his "why is he still alive" @ keiran in Lady Midnight. Oh Julian, you're not the only ruthless Blackthorn.
hi cassie, do you have anything done for the next book of the chronicles of castellane or you’re still brainstorming how to destroy our hearts?
also super excited about the last king of faerie, can’t wait to read more about my shadowhunter babieeesss 🤍
I have an outline for the third book, The Bone Conjurors. And once upon a time the series was two books, so the outline hasn't so much massively altered as stretched to accommodate more story than I originally thought there would be, while keeping the basics, the ending, etc. But yes, I haven't started writing it yet because generally I find it very hard to work on two projects at once — I've done it before with doubling up Shadowhunter projects, but something as different as Shadowhunters and Castellane would not serve either project well!
Hi Cassie! I was wondering what your relationship with your characters is like. Do you view them as your friends, your children, your creations or something else? I feel such a deep connection as a reader and I can’t imagine how much deeper that goes as an author!🩷
This is such a lovely question.
I don't think my relationship with characters is quite like having children or friends, because those are relationships with real people. Characters are something stranger than that. They're part of the toolkit of telling a story, but they're also repositories for things I've observed, experienced, wondered about, or imagined. They often contain pieces of people I've known, pieces of myself, and pieces that are entirely invented.
Sometimes I think they're a bit like diary entries: snapshots of thoughts and feelings I had at a particular time. Sometimes they're more like the imaginary friends I had as a kid. I traveled constantly when I was young, and I spent a lot of time inventing companions. I knew they weren't real, but I invested enough imagination in them that they became deeply meaningful to me. Characters feel a little like that. I know they are not real but the work put into them makes them important.
My relationship with them is also very different from a reader's relationship. Readers have the wonderful ability to experience a character almost as though they're meeting another person. I don't, because I know how they're built. People often ask me, "How's Ty doing right now?" and my honest answer is that he's not doing anything unless I'm writing him doing it. He's not lonely or waiting for me; he's simply not in motion until the story begins again.
I think that's probably the biggest difference between being the author and being the reader. Readers get to believe in the reality of the characters. Authors can always change those characters in a way actual people cannot be changed or altered and that power over them is a constant reminder that in fact, they are not real but serve the same thing you, the writer, do: the story overall. In some ways it's a bit sad we never get to experience them like you do!
i just want them to make out i mean make up
can we talk about how the sword is the length of his entire body. That damn sword is as tall as he is. And he’s wielding it with one hand. At 8 years old. His arms must be burning. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS PLEASE—
HANAKO KUN IS BACK ???? HANAKO KUN IS BACK ???????
I know kit's friends are sick of him post-twp because any time he sees an animal he has to stop and take pictures to send to ty, who responds with that animal's scientific name and fun facts, and then kit won't shut up about oh did you know that millipedes predate the dinosaurs? bc my boyfriend did 🥰 by the way did i show you this picture of my boyfriend holding a mouse? 🥹 usually mice are really skittish and they don't like people but my boyfriend-
Hanako saying his type as "the shape of their fingers" (pronounced "yubi") in that one comics usually is taken as him actually meaning the shape of their ankles (pronounced "ashikubi")
But honestly it wouldn't be a complete stab in the dark (ironic ik) to say the shape of fingers isn't important to him
Many of his special moments with nene involve them interlocking fingers:
The shape of her fingers fits perfectly into the gaps between his. She's the light that infiltrates in his moments of darkness
Benedict Lightwood really took "would you still love me if I was a worm?" to the highest level possible
I'm beginning to think we WILL get GTA 6 before the Frostbite Studios Ty art, which really is saying something
these tags by @vaguely-concerned cracked me up so I had to sketch it as baby Orufrey
This fits Mark a bit too well-
"Helen, Julian, Livia, Tiberius, Drusilla, Octavian. And Emma,” said Mark. "You see? I have not forgotten. Every night, no matter what has happened during the day, no matter if I am torn and bloodied or so bone-tired I wish I were dead, I look up at the stars and I give each star a brother's name or a sister's face. I will not sleep until I remember every one. The stars will burn out before I forget."
