in seriousness tho I do think this is a very interesting dichotomy between the two storylines of twp (as they are being presented so far) 

on one hand you have Dru, who has grown and changed a lot since TDA. she is no longer that 13 year old girl who didn't have any friends or life beyond her family. and while she obviously still very close to her siblings & they are still very important to her, she now has people who she is also close to totally separate from her family. there's almost the total spilt in her life and the two parts almost never interact with each other; something that is bound to change in TWP but which very likely to be crucial in why her TWP storyline happens at all.

For Kit and Ty however, their entire storyline literally hinges on the fact that after three years of not speaking to each other they are still intrinsic tied together in a way they are with no one else alive. because even though their lives have also dramatically changed, it's always a little shallow, held at arm's length out of necessity for their secrets. but even then, Dru knows and they both keep her at a distance too; the only confidant either of them really have it a ghost girl who cannot speak to anyone but them. like.... Ty Livvy and Kit are all still stuck in that month of hell, the singular week they were all friends to the point none of them can truly be friends with literally anyone else. and after three years they still understand each other in a way nobody else can because they know nearly every single one of their secrets while also not really knowing each other at all.
