Hormone cycle
I am not a doctor! Do not do anything here unless your doctor is ok with it and allows you to!
So, I do a lot of research regularly into various parts of being trans and how to make my transition as complete as possible - which can apply (can, but probably doesn’t always) to other people, so here I am sharing!
Now, if you do a bit of diving into the ocean that is the internet you can find the cycle that a cis-gender woman’s hormones go through.

Anyway, every time I get my blood drawn, I ask for the results to be sent to me (or put on my online patient portal) so that I can view how my levels reacted to the different dosages of estradiol that I was taking. Also, I had hormone levels taken before I started taking hormones so I was able to determine roughly how much my testosterone was contributing to my estradiol level.
Taking this data, I plotted it into excel and had it calculate a trend line so I could use that equation to predict how much estradiol I would have in my blood from doses I had yet to take.
Figure 3 - a selection of my own data, sans specifics so people don’t use my doses for themselves. This stuff is very specific to each person’s body.
So, taking this equation, I picked doses that would theoretically give me levels near an average cis-gender woman’s levels and made a graph of that:
Figure 4
So, these are the rough levels that the average cis-gender woman has according to Figure 1 put onto this graph and the predictions of my levels next to them.
Taking this data, I asked my doctor if I could follow vary the dose I took every day to match this. She looked it over and agreed!
Also, I now take Progesterone 6 days out of every month to coincide with the spike a cis-gender woman has every month.
For ease of scheduling my doses, I have my cycle start at day 1 at the beginning of every month, so my cycle is 30 or 31 days long depending on the month (except the fun month of February!)
I am now being even more closely monitored, but I believe this will be more than worth it. Fingers crossed! Also, don’t be afraid to discuss your medication with your doctor! I am not a doctor, so do not take this information and use it without getting their permission first! I will not ever suggest anyone starts hormone treatment without being safely monitored by a doctor.
Two months in and my boobs grew an extra cup and my body has become much more feminine, btw!
