Iâm waiting for something crazy to end up happening. It seems a bit too quiet.
"Quiet is good.. I like quiet."
I'm staying in bed with Sheila all day.
âSheila is my cat!â
"You have a kitty? I have a doggie, but he's very old.. Older than me!"Â
âYou want Jamie to tuck you in, sweetheart?â James asked his baby sister, kissing her cheek.
Bliss shook her head, wrapping her tiny arms around her brother's waist. She didn't utter a single word -- which showed him how exhausted she really was.Â
"M'sleepy.."
I'm staying in bed with Sheila all day.
Iâd ask my babies to join for a cuddle, but I donât know where they are. Hmm.
"Who's Sheila, Auntie Lea?"
Actually, going outside for a bit.
No, she took one of my bags, sweetie.
"One of your bags?"
Today has been a long day.
"Sh, sleepytime.."
Actually, going outside for a bit.
Now that I think about it, home is the last place I wanna be.
"Did s-she steal your music box too?"Â
Kristen clutched her daughter close to her, hugging her tightly and rocking lightly. âItâs okay, theyâll go away. Follow my instructions, okay? Step one, close your eyes..,â pausing a few seconds, she continues, âStep two, count to three.. count with me; one⌠two.. three.. okay?â Step three, think of something good. Remember yesterday at the beach? You splashed me and nearly buried your brother?âÂ
Step one. Her emerald eyes fluttered shut; the voices becoming louder by the second. However, she tried her best to push them away and concentrate on her mother's voice.
Step two. With every number uttered from her lips, her body slowly started to become limp. There was no more scratching or kicking, no more pulling or pushing. She took a deep breath to sooth the pain in her lungs and sniffled quietly.Â
Step three. The image of her brother's upper body peeping out of the sand flickered through her mind; a small smile creeping onto her lips. The image faded away and another entered: her mother and herself having the best time of their life in the shallow part of the beach. It was fun day, but extremely tiring to say the least. "--and, and, and we built a moat around Jamie's head and he kept singing badly and.."
In a matter of no time, Bliss' tears faded away and all that could be heard in the empty hallway was the sound of their breathing. "I sowwy, mummy," she mumbled, "I wuv you."
âSweetie, sweetie, babyâ shh..!â Kristen was in a slight panic, tears in her eyes, scared for her own daughter. Her hand held her back lightly, her other hand petting the back of her head gently. âWhere are they?â she asks, thinking she can rid of whatever it is. The monsters.Â
Even with her eyes shut, Bliss could still feel the monsters crawling at her skin. They were screaming at her. They were scratching her. They were hurting her. They were doing things that no one but herself could see or hear. Why? Why was she the only one who could see them? It wasn't fair. No, not fair at all.Â
Bliss buried her face into the crook of her mother's neck, breathing in her soothing scent -- which did nothing to calm her current situation. "They're everywhere," she whispered, trying her best to suppress her sobs. They were threatening to break through, but she wouldn't let them. She didn't want her mummy and daddy to throw her into the hospital again. She didn't want the monsters to be right.
Her brows furrow beginning to see her daughters reaction; not to her words, but to where she was, staring inside the room. âBliss?â Kristen calls after her in worry as she scrambles off of her bed, quickly going after her to see her fallen onto the floor in the hall. âBlissy, baby,â Kristen says in a soothing voice as she picks her daughter up and holds her close, hugging her to her chest as she stands. Figuring itâs not good to go back to her room, Kristen goes into Arabelleâs room and stands there, holding her daughter in her arm, whispering âshhsâ and âdont worryâsâ to her.Â
She pulled at her clothes. She pushed away at air. She kicked her feet beneath her. She scratched against her poor, little heart. "Mummy," she cried, squeezing her eyes together as tightly as she could, "make them go away!.. Pwease.."Â
She didnât know where Rob was, where he went or what he was doing. Her mind was away from that, anyways. She was here, her arms around her head as she cried alone. It was easier to cry alone, but not easier to be alone.. so sheâs not sure how to really react when Bliss peeps through the door at the late hour. Brows furrowing, Kristen wipes her eyes and sits up. âSweetie, whatâre you doing awake? Come here..â
Bliss scanned the room with her fear-filled eyes; her eyes falling upon the monsters that were lurking deep in the shadows. She stared at them and they stared right back. Why were they here? Did they take her daddy? Was that why her mummy was crying? Bliss took a step back into the dark hallway; her frame beginning to tremble with fright. Ignoring her mother's words, she turned on her heel and ran straight towards her room. There were no monsters there -- no monsters to eat the poor girl up alive. Unable to see within the dark of the night, she tripped over a rug and ended up in a fetal position on the ground. Her body began to shake with sobs as she cried out for her mother, for her father, for her brother, for anyone to help. She could feel the monsters pulling at her feet.. scratching at her clothes.. Â stabbing through her heart.
[Laying on her bed.]
Bliss was curled up in the corner of her bed; the blanket tucked protectively around her. It has been seconds, minutes, hours.. How long has it be? The little girl still had yet to fall asleep, despite how tired she was physically and mentally. Every time she closed her eyes, a piercing pair of crimson eyes would flash in her mind.
Finally, she decided to go find her mummy and daddy -- the only people in the whole wide world who knew how to fight her fears. Silently and quietly, she tiptoed through the dimly hallway and made her way to her parents' bedroom. Peeking her head in, her eyes immediately fell upon her mother's shaking frame. "Mummy?" She mumbled.
⣠Oh No!

When -A was in your home, she stole your music box.
It has been a long day at the beach and Arabelle was sound asleep in her fatherâs arms. He carried her up the stairs and towards her room, laying her down in her very pink bed. She stirred and groaned; her fatherâs action causing her to wake from her slumber. Rob smiled and pressed his cool lips to her forehead, âsleep, darling.â
Arabelle nodded and closed her eyes, only to open them again a few moments later. âDaddy?â She called out.
Her father turned; confusion evident in his blue eyes. "Baby.. your music box is gone."Â
Hey guys!
I most certainly can! In fact, I would love to!
"Really?!"
âWhat? No, donât bury me inside it!â James said, faking a pout. âIâm your big brother!â
But as his little sister got tired of digging, James only shook his head and chuckled softly, continuing to dig the hole as big as Ara wanted it.
"I was going to bury myself, but then I realized that if I did.. I wouldn't have any way to get out!"
Ara peered into the deep hole, making sure it was deep enough for her brother to stand in. "Okay, stay there!" she squealed, standing up and brushing the sand off her bum. She slowly began to push sand into the large hole, stopping only when it reached the middle of his chest. Now, the only thing that could be seen was James' upper body popping up from the ground like a weed.
