I really don't like the fact that the narrative tried to make us believe that the blue AI was what made Caine the way he was and not the fact that he has unaddressed trauma of his creators locking him away in solitary confinement and abandoning him because he wasn't good enough at his job.

Like, the fact that he never has a conversation with Kinger, one of his creators, is ridiculous. An episode should have been dedicated solely to Kinger and Caine's relationship and baggage. There was so much potential there and it was completely wasted.

I'm glad that Caine got a happy ending, but his plot and arc desperately needed more time to breathe.

You know what's actually funny? Literally every excuse for Jax's behaviour gets undone by another character going though the exact same thing.

Jax had issues with his abusive parents? So did Ragatha.

Jax is implied to have issues related to his gender? So does Zooble.

Jax watched someone he loved commit suicide Abstract? So did Kinger. And unlike Ribbit, Kinger wasn't the reason Queenie abstracted.

Trauma isn't an excuse. It's never an excuse. And I'm sick of the overwhelming number of people who fail to realise that.

I wonder if he reacted in a similar way to when Scratch first Abstracted. It must have been a pretty traumatic shock, since he never made major modifications to someone's mind files again.

What makes ep9 work so well for me is that Caine earns his own redemption by himself instead of having the humans bring back a "fixed" or "rebooted" version of him... which would've been incredibly tragic from a Ship of Theseus perspective
