Also the thing Ianthe does with Harrow's hair follicles is one of the more evil fucked up things Ianthe has ever done because it feels so. pointed. in a very real way. It's such a petty bitchy thing to do and it feels like something a real rich white girl would do to the freaky bald nun in her dorm building if she could. Like I do think it's worth analyzing how Ianthe and Corona are some of the most "feminine" to our eyes characters in the text and Ianthe a) uses flesh magic to nonconsensually alter Harrowhark's body and b) denies Harrowhark's requests to wear her preferred clothing both times in the pursuit of making Harrow look, again to our eyes, "more feminine." And even without that connotation, "making a person's hair grow faster who you know shaves her head as a religious observance (for a religion that makes her decidedly a minority btw) because Lmao" is still a very petty very shitty thing to do. Harrowhark can be a creepy bone pope and still be subject to religious discrimination and I think the thing Ianthe does with her hair is a version of that (you see a lot of anti-Ninth religious discrimination, actually; most pointedly in GtN it comes from Silas Octakiseron, who is himself a religious fundamentalist who believes that the Ninth are heathens and idolators. Almost like something from real life... guess we'll never know)
