Keralis: ādid you get this from my farm, by the way?ā
xB: āfrom our farm? Yes.ā
Bdubs, summing up what Iāve been thinking: āoh boy, the two of youā¦ā
Letting xB say āson of a bitchā in a fic is like the equivalent of letting ur dog off the leash at the dog park
Shining
One character trait I always forget about xB is that he is a humble bragger. He neeeeds you to see the cool cool thing heās done, oh so casually rich, but itās no big deal yk. Heāll big his eyes at you until you say how pretty his iron farm is and then be like ohhh itās nothingā¦
added some info about au characters' relationships to artfight connections. might as well share here since i haven't really talked about it that much yet
the story has roughly 4 parts for now, that's what numbers stand for
i finally added descriptions to each character. there's quite a lot of lore, go check it out if you're interested :]

Finding out that Pearl's parents had their irl home moved by having it chopped in half and moved on two trucks actually makes sense. This is a genetic problem. She's seen it happen in real life and now she knows it's possible. Father and Mother Moon created a monster.
So I was thinking about Keralis and xB getting older and xB getting BIGGER as a guardian hybrid until he reached elder guardian status and I felt so normal about it. Im not crying. You are.
In case you didnt have enough to do this July, or feel more crafty than art fight might fulfil, I present to you:
Joe This In Your Style Craft Prompts!
Basically, Joe Hills doesn't have any official merch at the moment, but that doesn't mean fans of Joe, Juppet, and Beetlejhist must go without!
By creating our own fanart in alignment with the prompts, we have a shared space to collaborate, coordinate, and generally share our fun together!

they want to kill each other so badly
Anyways... what?
Forget about boundaries for a minute. Let's talk about triggers.
Triggers are a reaction that can form due to exposure to traumatic situations. Some aspect of the environment around the trauma (an item, a song, a food- ANYTHING) becomes associated with the trauma. Future exposure to that trigger brings up the memory of the trauma, causing things like flashbacks or dissociation.
Let's imagine someone who spent a lot of time very sick in the hospital, and as a result they're triggered by the smell of a specific brand of cleaner. Any time they smell it, it feels like they're right back alone and in pain and dying in that hospital bed.
What do you expect they might do to handle that? They might let friends and family whose houses they visit know, so those people avoid that scent. Maybe they've had to leave stores or restaurants a few times, so they call ahead to check if that cleaner is used. Maybe they go to therapy and start working on controlled exposure to it, or how to lessen their reaction.
Why don't they just ask that no one uses that cleaner anymore? It's legitimately triggering to them, it can make them have panic attacks - why would anyone want to use something like that, knowing how much it could upset them? It's not like there aren't plenty of other cleaning supplies and scents out there! How obsessed are you with this cleaner that you can't agree to not use it? Surely you understand how disrespectful it is to prioritize a smell over someone's comfort, they're a person too.
...
Someone who creates media (whether acting, writing, streaming, or otherwise) does not retain control over the stories other people tell when inspired by what they made. It's not about the fucking shipping, it's that the request is fundamentally unreasonable and controlling. Pretty much everyone is happy to use tags and filters and archive locking to ensure CCs don't have to see things they don't like; but if a CC wants to ensure art or writing exists to their precise specifications, that's called a commission.
A creator announcing you can't ship their characters is just a different flavor of Anne Rice issuing takedown letters to gay fanfic of IWTV, and deserves to be equally clowned on.
My takeaway to the few posts that have passed by my dash, is that many of these grown-ass creators don't really understand what a boundary is in like, relationships in general.
Take, as a basic example. Someone you're living with - a friend, partner, whoever - loves to make and eat toast. You can't stand the smell of toast: it makes you utterly nauseated.
In this situation, you wouldn't say "toast makes me feel sick so my boundary is that YOU can never make toast again." That isn't setting a boundary; that's controlling someone else's behaviour. It's putting the responsibility of your discomfort onto them, instead of managing it yourself.
Instead, a healthy boundary would look like this: "toast makes me feel sick, so whenever you cook it I'm going to leave the kitchen, and I would appreciate a head's up when you're about to make it." You're communicating clearly, taking action, establishing your needs, but not controlling the other person's behaviour.
This is a basic ass example of course. And real life relationships allow for a lot more nuances and compromise (I didn't realise toast made you sick: I'll tell you exactly when I'll be cooking, and leave the windows open so the smell can dissipate/I actually wasn't that attached to toast at all so I don't mind eating plain bread/etc etc). The point being, that boundary setting does aim to control your friends actions. Rather, it communicates your responses to that action. Then the ball is in their court.
A far healthier response to fan content that causes discomfort would be something like this: I do not enjoy this kind of content because it causes personal discomfort to me. Therefore if I see it, I will not be engaging with it. I ask that you give me an option to keep my distance from it, by clearly tagging/labeling so I can avoid it.
It's really that simple.
