The concept art of Cullen is so fantastic. I don’t care what he looks like in game, this is what he looks like to me.

Here is a guy who has seen some shit. Survived it.

This looks like a man who is tormented by his failures, by guilt and wavering faith. This looks like a man with a crippling drug addiction, fighting through it.

He looks like the character he IS in his concept art– It drives me insane how Bioware made him into a Ken doll.

He is one of the best characters in DAI, and almost all of the amazing things about him get overlooked because “hot guy!”

I like that Bioware is self aware enough to make comments here and there about it though.

I don’t think that we all over look all the amazing things about him, I think those that do don’t truly know him. They are fans of his looks. When looks aren’t what make him a good character. I think his looks in the game are icing on the cake.  I do like his concept art, that being said, that concept art makes him appear far far older than his 30 years, even taking into account all the shit he’s seen.

I’ve always found the concept art attractive like the op said it feels like a very real reflection of him. Although agree with @elevanetheirin he looks a lot older than 30. I clearly love the way he looks in game (no mods pls!) - whilst in game is a traditional ‘prettier’ version they do well I think to capture some of his troubled/haunted nature in his eyes, wrinkles and body language. It’s him I love, the good heart, humble caring nature, hard working Commander, not his appearance and think that all true Cullenites feel the same.
