I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like “OH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.” It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-
All Ships Week isn't until October, but I had requests to release the prompts as early as possible, so they are beneath the cut!
All Ships Week will run October 19-25
It's a ship week for all ships!
No sign-ups needed
🚢 complete event info
Not every story is about seeing yourself in it. Sometimes it’s about learning to see other people too.
@tearyeyedcat this was beautifully written, thank you for adding it!
Another excuse for me to post Head Writer of ATLA Aaron Ehasz’s great characters board:
the thing about ai witch hunt is that instead of spreading awareness about why and how ai can be harmful, people focus their energy on harassing other people instead. so instead of actually achieving something, fandom space and the internet as a whole just became twice as toxic because people have found a ✨noble way✨ to tell other people to off themselves and get praises for it. you’re not helping. you’re part of the problem

Fanfic is a great way to practice self-indulgence while writing. It doesn’t even have to be good, it just exists purely for your pleasure, be a little freak about it. Worry about quality and what other people think when it comes to works you intend to publish in a formal setting
Okay yeah sure but what if you consider AO3 to be a formal setting?
you show up to AO3 in a pressed suit, polished shoes, briefcase in hand, ready to keep minutes at the four hour discourse meeting.
I drag myself to AO3 in my sweats, no bra, hair up in a thing, hastily shod flip flops, looking for a cheap coffee and a sandwich.
boss pays us the same: 2 kudos each, and one unhinged commenter to share
some people will be like “I wonder why fanfic writers don’t share their works anymore😔” and then this is them when a writer is kind enough to share something they write — as a hobby, for their own enjoyment — with them for free.
some people really don’t realize how privileged they are that they get fanfics for free. imagine having access to something for free because someone is kind enough to share it with you… and then being rude, entitled and an ungrateful pos to that person who was kind enough to share their creation with you for free
“almost 1 year is a lil too much for me” fuck off. fanfic writers don’t owe you anything. one of my favorite fics was updated after 13 years, and what I did is that I thanked the author for choosing to continue the work, I didn’t act like a spoiled toddler by asking why they didn’t update sooner. and even if a writer chooses to abandon their fic permanently with no explanation, that is their choice, their hobby, their decision. they don’t owe your entitled ass anything.
you people let tiktok rot your brains to the point you see everything as content farm and engagement. not a piece of art created by the artist’s love and passion. it’s dystopian.
Which of these would your Blorbo prefer?
An annually scheduled sword fight against an orangutan
A daily hand-to-hand combat with a flock of feisty chickens
Every poll on this blog is about fictional characters only. This request was sent to us and we made a poll in response to it. Send any Blorbo-related question you want to our inbox and we’ll make a poll on which people can vote with their own Blorbos in minds
eruri hospital au lowkey??? idk heh
don’t you hate when real life keeps interrupting your extremely serious commitments like your wip, your fanfics, and the emotional support music group you’ve been hyperfixating on for the past three months.
I firmly believe what ever you’re obsessed with at 11/12 years old becomes a core part of who you are, regardless if you lose interest in it or not. Maybe some of you were lucky and were obsessed with warrior cats or smth, and if you’re real unlucky it was probably twilight.
shout out to fictional relationships where they bring out the worst parts of each other and actively ruin each others lives
