@bluthefrog
do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets
her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.
Scientists have developed a breakthrough “superfood” for honeybees by engineering yeast to produce the essential nutrients normally found in
TLDR- Modern agriculture pollen is low in nutrients, and there aren’t enough wildflowers. Science has to develop vitamins to supplement the diets of agricultural bees. So plant some wildflowers for the wild bees near you.
you’ve heard of vitamin B, now get ready for bee vitamins
Oh, did I tell y'all they jacked the rent up another $25 this month? Were paying $2,467, they increased it by "1%" (psychological class warfare), making the NEW rent amount a non-rounded $2,491.67. Utterly petty and ridiculous. They KNOW that all I have is SSI! This completely EATS the "Cost of Living Increase" I got this year. Vile, blood-sucking motherfuckin' LEECHES!!!
Nearly (oh, but not quite, as they would be quick to add) $2,500 for this Minimum Security Prison Facility.
It's been TEN YEARS, Universe.
Haven't I completed my sentence yet?
Because that's what this feels like: a prison sentence.
Today's Warm up: Working on Ahme's Tarot card counts as a warm up right??? Usual warm ups will resume tomorrow x Tip jar/commissions
how could you like the colour yellow
see a therapist immediately
I actually used to hate it! Like, actually despise it! Yellow was too bright, too loud, discordant, unruly, and clashed with everything. Nothing like what I wanted in my life, nothing I wanted to be.
When I first moved away from home, everything I owned was black. Jet back. As black as I could get. Smooth, cool, sleek, discrete, calm, unassuming. Flexible, cohesive, agreeable black. Fashionable black.
I had a really, really bad time. Unrelated to the decor. It was my first year out of a toxic place I'd grown used to my whole life, my first year acknowledging a mental illness I'd believed to be normal, my first year fending for myself with very little money or sleep or companionship.
I'd grown up on instant white rice and unseasoned ground beef. One day I realized that everything I'd been raised on tasted like cardboard. While out on an assignment, I passed a tent with a woman selling spices, and bought myself some turmeric. I went home and tried making curry with it. It was so yellow.
Another time, my professor took us out to a modern art gallery. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but when we got there, the whole building had been painted bright sunshine yellow.
The artist's theme was "happiness".
What it is. How we make it. How to share it.
All bright, lovely yellow.
The house I grew up in was beige. The walls were white. The appliances were post 9/11 stainless steel. My job was to be quiet, compliant, presentable and agreeable.
Black goes with everything. Black is neutral. Black is quiet, reserved, elegant and mysterious.
Yellow is warm. Yellow does what it wants. Yellow tastes sweet and spicy and hot and cool, like a summer breeze, like sunflower petals, powdery like dust on a long dirt road and soothing like well-worn linen.
I still like the look of black. I like the look of most colors. But I like the way that Yellow makes me feel.
Do you understand?

why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
It wandered across mine. I shall help it travel forward.
this is not a place of honor
Oh hey post of Ozymandius, good to see you again standing on your feet in a desert where no one remembers you

If a fantasy world has an ancient tree of wisdom, that means it must also have young trees that are dumb as shit. Just giving terrible advice like, "the evil wizard is kinda hot"'
@marlynnofmany
#that would be hilarious #you'd have to measure trees to make sure they knew what they were talking about
I can easily see this fantasy world having idioms like "Never take the advice of a tree that's small enough to hug."
(Also, I'll bet some of those young trees give bad advice on purpose, because entertainment is at a premium when you can't move around, and your morality system is very different from that of the meat creatures.) (What do trees know or care about the evil wizard's actual attractiveness? Sending him all these suitors is pretty funny though, so they're probably going to keep doing it.)
Consider: Two Pando-style clonal forests that overlap. It appears to be a vast forest, but every single "tree" is actually just a ramet of one or the other clonal organsim. Both are Ancient Trees of Wisdom™, but also they hate each other; you can never be sure which of the two you're talking to, but you can be sure that any advice one of them gives the other will disagree with on principle.
So. For those of you who didn't pay attention to the details of the legal spat between Krafton and Unknown Worlds, allow me to give you some details of the finest legal comedy of a generation.
Krafton CEO looks at the hype surrounding Subnautica 2, goes over the contract between Krafton and Unknown Worlds, realizes he'll have to pay out bonuses and freaks out because shelling out those bonuses will make him look like a pushover.
CEO goes to his legal department, asks them to come up with a plan to weasel out of paying bonuses. Legal tells him the contract is iron-clad and to accept the loss.
CEO refuses to take the loss, asks ChatGPT for a plan. ChatGPT says the exact same thing the legal department did.
CEO demands a plan from ChatGPT, which dutifully spits out a plan at this point because clearly the CEO is a goddamn idiot.
CEO deletes the chat logs, failing to understand that 'delete' doesn't permanently remove things.
CEO follows plan, and is surprised when Unknown Worlds sues for breach of contract despite being told by both humans and an LLM that is exactly what would happen.
Court does not go well for Krafton's legal department. It comes out that after ignoring the sound legal advice of human beings, the CEO went to ChatGPT and asked for a plan. When asked for the logs by the court, Krafton's legal team states they were deleted, thus that it's simply herersay. Judge goes "Oh, that's okay, we'll have our IT folks recover them." Krafton's legal team is astounded that's even possible.
The chat logs are recovered. It comes out that even ChatGPT was in agreement with Krafton's legal department, and only spat out a plan after being asked a second time.
The judge, now thoroughly done with the stupidity of Krafton's CEO at this point, rules in favor of Unknown Worlds. Her ruling doesn't simply undo the scheme, but effectively leaves all control over Subnautica 2's development in the hands of Unknown Worlds, including the early access release date, reducing Krafton to just publishing out of contractual obligation. Krafton must also return all social media platforms for Unknown Worlds and Subnautica 2 to Unknown Worlds' control. Financial damages will be determined at a later date.
Krafton proceeds to violate the court order in less than 72 hours by trying to set an early access release date before returning Unknown Worlds' social media platforms.
Summary: In trying not to look like a pushover, Krafton's CEO now looks like a complete idiot who's going to have to fork over bonuses, plus court-mandated damages, plus whatever comes out of violating the court's orders. Krafton's legal department may as well come to court dressed as clowns after this. I suspect Unknown Worlds might buy the rights to Subnautica back after all this and either relegate Krafton to just publishing or find a different publisher for future games altogether.
btw, Steam is currently having an "ocean fest" where they showcase all the ocean themed games on the store
which they obviously decided to do by complete coincidence and didn't mean to say anything by this or anything 🙂
Step outside on a clear night almost anywhere in Britain and look up. Chances are you won't see much. An orange coloured washed out glow han
World map of light pollution. False colours show intensities of skyglow from artificial light sources around the world (Credit : David Lorenz)
The case for doing so is compelling. Exposure to artificial light at night is linked to a catalogue of serious health conditions: type 2 diabetes, obesity, dementia, Parkinson's disease, and retinal damage. Beyond the physical, it disrupts mood and increases rates of depression and anxiety. The mechanism is largely circadian, our bodies are wired to respond to darkness as a cue for rest and repair. Flood the night with light, and that ancient rhythm breaks down.
Wildlife is faring no better with even the lowly caterpillar populations declining by 52 per cent in areas exposed to street lighting. Around one third of insects drawn to artificial light sources die from exhaustion, predation, or disorientation. Plant pollinator interactions fall by up to 62 per cent under artificial light, quietly undermining the reproductive cycles of plants we depend on. In Europe, half of all known firefly and glow worm species are now threatened with extinction. In the oceans, 22 per cent of the world's coastlines are bathed in artificial light disrupting coral spawning, confusing sea turtle hatchlings and suppressing the vast daily migrations of zooplankton that underpin marine food chains. The cumulative picture is stark since of all species that list light pollution as a recognised threat on the International Union for Conservation of Nature ‘Red List,’ 45 per cent are classified as at risk of extinction.
Cannot imagine Rocky's thoughts about Stratt if he was told the full story. There's a lot of opinions about this going around, and I get the "Rocky would just hate her" theory, but it's so much more complicated. Like Grace's own opinion.
There's this woman who was doing everything imaginable to save her species, her planet. Your friend worked for her, trusted her, cared about her. You love your friend, and he's the first sentient being you have met in decades, half a century. He's the reason your world is saved and you can go back home. He's the reason you're alive and gave you hope. His mission was supposed to end in death, by design, but you saved him. He uses that gift to save you instead. Save your planet. There's a woman who did awful things for the sake of the world knowing she would pay the price. She (thought she) killed your friend. But he's not dead! But she couldn't know. The woman sent you a saviour, a gift from the sky beyond your perception. She betrayed your friend. She's the reason you can go home. She hurt him and made him scared scared scared. She saved her world, gave you your best friend. She took his memories (eridiana don't forget. Can't. Amnesia must be a horror story) and autonomy. She is the reason no other crew will die, because now you know the dangers of space.
I don't think Rocky hates Stratt, but I'm not sure he would like her either. Respect for doing what had to be done, anger for following through with it.
