Marvel vs DC
Just by reading this title I know it is going to raise peoples backs but as we know, Comic Book movies are writhe at the moment. As a huge fan of art and especially graphic novels, being a geek has all of a sudden become quite cool.Ā
The cinematic world is currently populated by both Marvel and DC films, especially by Marvel. It seems that every month that I go to the cinema another Marvel character graces our screens. Even looking at future releases, Marvel seem to dominate with films such as Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spiderman: Homecoming, Thor: Raganarok, Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War Part 1 and Antman & The Wasp. This is just in the next two years. Where as DC have Wonder Women, Justice League Part 1, The Flash and Aquaman. Now as you can see, Marvel dominate however, does this mean that they are ahead of the game?
In my opinion I have always enjoyed Marvel films over DC. This is because that the studios and directors seem to capture the characters of Marvel. This year alone we had Deadpool. Now, we were all waiting in anticipation for this one and we all knew that Ryan Reynolds would deliver something great and he did not disappoint. Deadpool received rave reviews and smashed the box office and I for one thoroughly enjoyed it.Ā
Next up was Captain America Civil War. From the untrained eye, this could be mistaken for another Avengers movie minus Hulk! This edition to the Marvel catalogue has been my favourite so far. Capturing the characters emotions and detailing the struggle between them, splitting the teams. For the record, I would have been team Cap! The addition of Antman, Black Panther and the new Spider-Man injected a new energy into the film. I especially like Black Panther and I look forward to his own movie.Ā
DC managed to get the hype going in their direction with the release of Suicide Squad. There was a lot of intrigue sounding this film, especially the delivery of the Tattooed Joker. The trailers indicated that Jared Leto would feature heavy in this film......sadly he did not and for me, the only highlight of this movie is Marrgot Robbieās performance as Harley Quinn. The rest was disappointing.Ā
Donāt even get me started on Batman vs Superman. This film was so poorly edited and disjointed itās unreal. Letās not forget the main focus of the film. The clue is in the title. You are lead to believe that there is going to be this epic battle however, Iāve seen more fight in my left toe. Utterly disappointing.Ā
I do not want to cast the illusion that I am only pro Marvel, they have had some stinkers also. Films like The Punisher have the makings of a great film but it was never delivered as such. Tom Janesā attempt wasnāt bad but overall, all 3 movies are boring. Letās not forget every Hulk adaptation. Now, Hulk is my ultimate superhero. As soon as you enter my residence, you are greeted by the big green machine but every movie has been as dull as dish water. However, I would like to see them attempt another with Mark Ruffalo at the helm.Ā
Overall I am of the opinion that Marvel do have the slight upper hand as their characters are properly portrayed not only by the directors but by the actors themselves. Even on the small screen we are seeing some adaptations like Daredevil (again, an awful movie), Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Gotham and The Flash (this I really enjoyed).
Going forward, I am really looking forward to see what is coming and again, I do not want people thinking that Iām pro Marvel. The original Batman movie and Superman with Christopher Reeves were epic but I do lean more towards Marvel with their graphic novels and story lines.Ā
So to finish, my favourite comic book is Hulk. Favourite DC comic book is Batman. Favourite Marvel Film is Deadpool. Favourite DC Film is Batman (Michael Keaton).Ā

Introducing Me!
Hey everyone,
I have been thinking about blogging for a while now but I never seem to have time to do it or, it may be the fact that I never really knew what to write about. However, I think thatās what everyone thinks before actually doing it. The other reason for my interest in blogging is that I have become extremely open with various parts of my life of late and this has enabled me to embrace who I am as an individual. Given a new lease of life you might say but, you will get a better understanding why throughout my writings.
Firstly, let me introduce myself. My name is Bob and I reside in the very green and affluent area known as Epsom, Surrey. Let me not lead you down a false representation of myself, Iām not rich by any means, not in a monetary sense anyway. Epsom is known as an affluent area because of the history around #EpsomSalts and of course, the #Derby. But, it is a very nice place to live and it is the only place that I have ever actually called home.Ā
Life in general has been up and down (mostly down) throughout my 36 years on this planet which I may go into at some point but it may be too much of a heavy read upon my introduction to you. But as aforementioned, I have embraced certain parts of who I am and have found platforms to air these freely. This is mostly surrounding my #MentalHealth. Thatās right, I said it. Itās out there but this does not define me as an individual.Ā
The latter part of my adolescence and throughout my adult life I have struggled with my #depression and #anxiety. Like most I have been prescribed medication that didnāt work or had some very debilitating side effects and not being able to talk about it because people just donāt want to listen or, I am made to feel insignificant by comments such as āGet over itā or āPull yourself togetherā.Ā
The embracing part has to be through the likes of another social media platform known as #twitter. I have discovered a whole community where I am able to vent or look for inspiration from other individuals and learn from them moving forward. Not allowing your label to define who you are but allowing it to be part of you. So, for me to sign off I would like to say the following; My name is Bob and I suffer from clinical depression and generalised anxiety disorder.
Until next time!
