A Reminder
Your body naturally wants to bulk up in the winter in order to stay warmer. You’re craving breads and sweets and root vegetables for a reason — you’re supposed to gain some weight in the winter. It’s survival instinct.
This pic of a women’s bathroom entrance was taken at the Jacksonville International airport. Yay for body diversity!

"No skinny bitches"
A friend of mine, with whom I've shared my thoughts on fat shaming and thin privilege, bought me a fridge magnet that says "No skinny bitches." And while I appreciate the thought behind the gift and the gesture of her respect of my opinions, but the magnet will not be going on my fridge.
As much as I truly believe that "thin shaming" only exists as a counteraction to fat shaming, I also know that body positivity involves celebration of all bodies. All bodies deserve respect regardless of size, shape, style, and ability. It's really important to me that no kind of body is held at a higher regard or insulted, for any reason.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Vaginas are awesome. Please appreciate your vagina (if you have one) or appreciate someone else's vagina (consensually and lovingly) (if you want to).
fck-mederma answered: I have fun with it. I play with my jiggly bits without shame, I touch my scars without disdain, and tell myself that I’m awesome.
Absolutely! There is nothing wrong with fat or scars or stretch marks. Appreciate every part of your body!!
fearlessfeminism answered: I workout! It helps me get in touch with my body and to feel it’s beauty and power
That's great! It's amazing to recognize and appreciate the strength of your body!
Start loving your body:
Erase all the negative thoughts! It's been so instilled in our brains that our bodies should look a certain way. That's why it's so easy to slip into the pattern of "this is too big" or "this doesn't look like in the magazines."
When you feel one of those thoughts creeping into your head, shut it down! Tell yourself that you have no obligation to look a certain way. The way society wants you to look has no logical basis, and it's not a fair or acceptable standard. Your body is amazing exactly how it is. Remind yourself that beauty standards are completely socially constructed. Tell yourself how beautiful you are, inside and out. Because I promise, you are.
How do you work on loving your body?
I'm having a wonderfully body positive day!
I feel very comfortable in the clothes I'm wearing. I like how my body is working. My skin looks healthy, and my curves feel strong.
Anyone else feeling good today? Anyone feeling not-so-good? Come share your feelings!

Hey. I’m fat but I’m also beautiful. The two are not mutually exclusive.
