Hogwarts house themed Harry Potter book jackets (Juniper Books) // Slytherin
3 STARS *** Very childish in parts, although it did fit well with the plot and the overall theme. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as it simply and easily got the message through regarding the age of characters and their mentality. Great plot development, however, and twists that I was not expecting at all. There weren't any noticeable plot holes either, making it an easy and enjoyable read without re-reading sections to fill in the gaps (this happens to me sometimes). It was well-written in a style that suited the MC perfectly. As the character aged, the overall style changed to suit, which was done seamlessly. The hops between times did get a little confusing at time and it did feel a little like a journal at times, which didn't sit all that comfortably with me. Although it can get a little dark at times and the language is a little strong (this didn't bother me at all though) it made a fantastic light read. I don't think I'd read another of Lockhart's books, however. The style of this book, however fitting, isn't what I normally look for and whilst it's good to push boundaries, that particular style is a too big a push for me.
A heart-warming read that strays from the classic 'boy meets girl' romance tales. 3.5 stars. It was lovely to read a romance novel that wasn't your classic 'boy meets girl' cliché, particularly one that also shows disability in a different light. I had seen many fantastic reviews about this and, even though I enjoyed it and the change in style was welcomed greatly, it didn't quite live up to the hype. I was expecting my life to be changed by this but I felt like it was just a good book that was a little different. I would definitely recommend this though because change is good and it certainly makes it clear that disability in romance novels is something not to disregard and ignore- I liked that a lot. I feel like 3 stars is a little harsh but 4 is a little too generous, hence the lower grading. I'm not sure if I'll go on to buy and read the sequel though.

4 STARS **** OKAY I HAVE A FEW NIGGLES BUT THIS IS REALLY SUPERB The content is fantastic and it's a lovely sequel to Billy and Me that's romantic and full of the realistic side to relationships. Giovanna Fletcher, once again, manages to write a superb novel to follow up one of my favourite romance novels of all time. I actually loved it. However, and it's only a small niggle, Giovanna Fletcher is a British author and whether or not this has come from the publisher, I don't know, but the use of American spelling in certain words (realising spelt realizing) really bugged me. When author's are American I tolerate it because that's their way of spelling those words but when a British author's book contains such spellings, I do get a little annoyed. It's a small niggle that, unfortunately, knocked off a star. Still a great book though, nonetheless, and I highly recommend you read both Billy and Me as well as Always With Love
DEFINITELY NOT AWFUL BUT NOT FANTASTIC EITHER. 4 STARS **** The first two in The 5th Wave series had be gripped and I flew through the both of them. This, however, not so much. I see no reason for the sudden style change from a narrative to a more diary-like format. I don't think it would've been so bad if it didn't keep swapping and changing between the two with no correlation or pattern. That aside, the writing stayed the same and the content in the book was nothing but gripping. The events, although a little predictable, were not boring or monotonous. I knew what was going to happen before the ink had even been put on the page but that didn't stop me enjoying the events as they unfolded. I'm struggling to find anything really bad about this but the style change dropped that final star. There was no need. I think it was to differentiate between points of view but it just wasn't executed as seamless as it could've been. I wouldn't stop this, however, from me recommending the series as a whole nor actually reading the book itself. Well done, Yancey on one of the better fantasy trilogies that are available. By far up there with the best.
5 STARS ***** Sequel slump is definitely not a thing here. Instead of just continuing the story and hitting a few bumps in the road, something I personally find happens a lot in book series, this book develops in such a way that you cannot put it down. Character development and new introduction of characters is done in an impeccable manor. Development of characters who were previously thought as less important, filler characters almost, is a pleasant surprise and it really adds depth to the book and the series as a whole. I read this in a matter of days and the third in the series will be started immediately. I think I've just found my new favourite trilogy.

SOPHIE'S WORLD -- JOSTEIN GAARDER 2.5 stars I don't think it's ever taken me this long to read a book. It wasn't bad, not by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't great either. It was such a hard read and I really did struggle to get through it in large sittings. The content of the book was in depth and really quite interesting and the plot was very cleverly done and very thorough. The writing, however, didn't match the aforementioned. Taking the few typing errors out of the equation, there was nothing grammatically wrong with the book, it was just very difficult to digest which, in turn, made the book difficult to read in longer sittings. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who doesn't have an interest in philosophy but if anyone is actually interested then it is a good read. There are some great things to reference to and live by, I guess, but it's just a bit tough going at times. The plot and the way in which it was delivered? Great, fantastic, even. The readability, however, wasn't so great and this spoiled it for me overall.
