Chapter 3

Cold black eyes bore into mine I can't help but stare, he had thick masculine eyebrows, a smooth bridge nose and tight lips his beauty did match his powerful frame.A low voice takes me back to reality “Is this ship Maria”,“Yes, but I can’t find the owner are you for the mission at sea?”, I answer hoping to sound as uninterested and casual as possible.He answers a simple yes and walks past me, his long faded black coat trailing behind him.

“So . . . my names y/n, yours?”I spoke trying to make conversation, “D” He responded, which surprises me since I wasn’t really expecting a answer.His name rings a bell in my head, ‘I have heard that name before’ I wonder as we (me walking behind) walk around the dock trying to find the owner. “Correct me if I’m wrong but your the Vampire Hunter, no?” I remark remembering the incident with the children.

“Yes”, he says coldly, I nod to myself as a question pops in my mind “Your probably first of my kind I have seen and not heard stories about, what a coincidence”, I marvelled.I have heard many stories of the great vampire hunter d, and the stories of his loneliness where neither vampires nor humans want him.

The dhampire stops in his tracks and turns his head towards me, “What are you”He inquired, something changing in the atmosphere. “Oh I thought I made it clear, I’m a dhampire too” I chimed, he turned to me finally facing me but before he could say anything I hear the sound of a traveller screaming while standing on a barrel “HELP AT SEA, boat Maria 150 000 coin!”.

I slip past him and sprint towards the traveller, I stop in front of the barrel and take out the crunched up page and shove it in his face, “Hi, I’m here for the job!” I cheered happy to have finally found the owner.

He gives me a lopsided smile “oh, I have been waiting all day for somebody to answer but . . . You the only one”, he cheered his smile slightly drooping as I feel a presesnce behind me. “I’m also here for the job” He chimes in his low voice making the hairs behind my neck stand.

“You must be Vampire Hunter D”, he says with a shaky voice, it’s still surprising that people are still scared of him when he seems to mean no harm unless . . .

D just stands there and looks at him, I see the travellers Adam’s apple bob as he gulps. “There should be crew by my ship who will let you on it,I’ll meet with you guys again at the end of the day then we will leave port hopefully will more people and tell them Captain Viyra has sent you two”,He says before quickly jumping off the barrel and running to a different direction.

“Well that was weird”,I say to myself “Definitely”, I hear disembodied voice say,I swiftly turn to face D cocking my head in a silent question before hearing the voice laugh at me.D squeezes his hand making the disembodied voice stop.

“Is that . . . Is your hand laughing at me”, I say bewildered. “Who else”, the disembodied voice responds.I frown confused and wanting to go back to the ship, “so are you come back with me or”, before I can finish my sentence D walks in the direction we came from.I trailed behind him as I try to talk to the disembodied voice.

Chapter 2:

I stop infront of the pub, putting my gun in my holster

I need a drink

I think exhaustion taking hold of me as I a step into the pub the floor boards creaking from years of fights,people say at little tables as waitresses filled their cups with more drink.

"Can I get a mug of brandy", I ordered "Do you have coin?"the bartender asked suspiciously "Would I be here without coin"I hissed annoyed by the idiotic question.The man looked at me for a bit then started pouring,I spot a notice board of the other side of the pub with new bounties.

I grab my mug striding towards the board,I skim through the jobs one catching my attention

HELP AT SEA

Written in bold,I have never liked the sea bit life is getting a bit boring so maybe it wouldn't be that bad.I grab the paper ripping it off the board to get a better look at what im getting into.Taking a seat at the nearest table I place the mug down with a thud.

Help needed at sea, goods and a advisor must be protected and taken through the Mazu Sea we will pay you 150 000 in coin separately.We will being leaving port in 2 days, if you help you will be considered helping the nation.Our ship is called Maria.

I smirk at the thought of 150 000 coin, that could get me so much mugs of brandy.I pocket the paper and give whatever coin I had left to the bartender leaving the pub to find a tree to sleep on.

"Fuck my back" I boomed my back cracking in places I didn't know it could,it's been years since if gotten to ly on a actual bed.

I stretch and pull out the paper which had creased in my pocket,jumping off the tree i walk to the port hoping that the hadn't left yet.

I make it to the port,it was easy to spot the ship since it was the only ship there that hadn't looked like it was built with spare parts.The port was like a market but with fish and only fish, the stench making me wanna Puck my guts out.

The ship was gorgeous up close it have a woody yet clean exterior clearly made of mahogany but I really don't know if it would do well in sea, my eyes drift to the letters on the side of the boat Maria.

Walking with caution I approach the ship yelling a awkward "Hello?" As I stood there probably looking like an idiot, I wait for a long 2 minutes, I sigh and turn but before I know it mu face has slammed itself into a pretty muscular chest.

I look up cursing under my breath,before freezing still.

I reload my pistol, firing in every direction killing the bastards one by one.

The job was messier than what I'm used to, at least with the carnage people who want me dead will think a bit before attacking, hunters especially.

Being born a dhamphire was very difficult my father human, mother vampire.My childhood actually not a bad one my father loved me and I had friends but as I got into teen years everything slowly went down hill one of the ways was when the Sherif of village came to my home in the middle of the night just to kill my dad, turns out the bishop sentenced him to death for no reason at all.

Most of the reason I got in this line of work is so I could kill him, his disgusting.Unlike the priest the bishop would hang around me a little too much, my dad noticed this and told me to say no if he asks me to do anything while we are alone.I ofcourse followed what he said but doing so would lead to his death . . .

FLASHBACK

I remember it clearly it was a normal day me andy friends were playing and feeding the horses by the church and he came out I hadn't seen him coming to us but my friends did

He asked to help him clean the church, I said yes.I made sure to always put distance between me and him but he always had a reason to come closer to close .I was forced to stay till dawn,I was finishing up cleaning the stairs I bent to grab "You always tempt me"he whispers caressing my thigh,a chill runs down my back "I must go my father is probably worried", I try to walk past him but he grabbed my shoulder squeezing my arm."He won't be worried your with me", he whispers again but closer in my ear.Something in me gave me courage to push him away and run out of the church fear of him following me home as the sun seems to set faster and faster.

I never told father but I knew he knew something was wrong so he went to Bishop and he didn't like it (the bishop).

After my father's death I ran away knowing no one had my back besides from my father.

PRESENT

At that age I knew I was a dhamphire trying to learn how to control my powers was difficult since there was no one like me so I opted for weapons my favourite being my pistol.But that was 854 years ago, throughout that time I have made friends with many people but no one has stayed with me, I don't know if that was a blessing in disguise or not since I'm not that comfy around people since I left my village especially men.

Chapter 3: Forest

I slowly stand up wiping the dirt off my clothes '' I really should stop thinking about that man''I mutter as I finally take a look at my surroundings ''Oh shit''I exclaim''why do I do these things to myself''I sob as I realise i'm in the middle of a unknown forest.

slowly i start walking hearing the sounds of creatures the birds and insects it was somewhat peaceful i walk in silence stopping once to take a break in the trees it's my second time now climbing the tallest and thiccest tree i could find to stop for a break i climb till im close to the top and collapse onto a branch on my stomach making a loud thud letting a sigh escape me i turn onto my back listening to the sounds as i slowly drift to sleep . . . . .

Silence

my eyes pop open i slowly lean forward thats strange i think as i try to listen for any sounds or any views of an animal the eerie silence is quick to get all my senses heightened as i silently move through the trees trying to figure out why the forest went silent i continue to jump through the trees until i spot something on the ground it looked like nothing was there but she could practically smell the fear off the animals well the animals who were not underground or hiding in the trees all the animals seem to be trying to stay away from this area where it is it looks like heat waves its like a warped version of the area i jump down tree land behind bushes crouching to stay out of view.

I can see you . . .

Chapter 2: Creature

It has been a few days since the sheriff incident, I have been walking a couple of miles and I haven't seen the strange man at all , I wonder why he saved me then desepeared he must have had other motives.

I walk through different errain like forests and empty plains,"I would kill for a horse right know"I announce, louder than I expected.

The sun begins to set and I am quick to find a place to camp, I sit on dry grass next to a little pond, the area was like a green desert.Grabbing dry pieces of wood it takes me a few minutes to light a spark but I am able to, there seems to be fish I'm the water so I grab what seems to be a small cod fish then cutting it and cooking then eating bones and all.

Afrer my fishy dinner I sit silently and listen to the crackle of the fire and sound of the creatures of the night, I slowly begin to dose off until SILENCE . . . . normally I would be happy for there to be no noise but there seems to something more sinister going on.

I slowly get to my feet surveying the area watching every shadow until SWOOSH a figure runs past me "Show yourself", I scream the hairs on my neck standing . . . .SWOOSH again it runs past me I feel it brush against my back,"I know your there", fear for the first time creeping up in my voice, again nothing replied dread started to fill me 'this was no normal monster' I thought.

SUDDENTLY I felt the need to move to leave this area so ofcourse I do running towards the forest trying to get as far away from this CREATURE as I can.

I run and I run until my legs give up, I finally fall to the ground . . . "Who are you"

Chapter 1 : Runaway

''Stop''.yelled the sheriff, guns out and shooting in my direction but im too fast for them and easily dodge all the bullets.I swiftly maneuver past all the confused bystanders, the towns crooked buildings feel as though they are purposely trying to block my way out of this horrid town sand easily getting in my face.''get her''raged the sheriff i just turn and grin all teeth showing,''try and catch me''.

I pick up my pace when I see the edge of the town. I begin to turn my head to look behind me but i stop halfway to see a man staring at me, not to be cliche or anything but he was not like other weirdos who stare, he looked almost super natural.He had long black hair, pale skin, he wore a big hat and a large black cape that covers most of his body,next to him was a large black horse which stared at me with the same amount of intensity.We lock eyes,I don't look away until swoosh my legs trip over a gray rock popping out of the ground, I land face first into the ground with lots of sand getting so much sand up my nose.

''Well that's embarrassing''. I mumble to myself, horses are quick to surround me kicking up more dust this time landing in my mouth, ''Hey watch it'' I grunted coughing out sand ''you deserve worse you wrench'',I look up to see a man standing behind the horses showing me the finger ''I dont even know you'' I reply. I stagger up trying to get back up on my feet,l look up to be faced to face with the barrel of the sheriffs gun,''We don't need whores like you in our society'', before i could do anything I hear screams then suddenly i'm lifted up into strong arms.I face my savior and it's the same supernatural man, the horse speeds up as the sheriffs horses approach, I am quick to grab onto him trying my best not to fall off the horse.  

When we finally got as far away as we could get from the town I quickly get out of the man's vice grip and jump of the still moving horse, he stops his horse in front of me ''I didn't need your help you know'' I exclaimed my back towards me as i dust off the sand off my clothes,''you seemed as though you needed help''. His voice came out monotone and deep, I turn to face him ''well thank you but i must be going''I stated before turning and walking in a different direction not knowing where i'm going to go but just somewhere that is faraway from that town, I feel his gaze on me but when I turn around he's not there.

''Why is it always the hot ones who are creepy . .''

Vampire Hunter D x Assassin Female Reader

Chapter 3: Silence [Sfw]

The ride was silent, with a few comments from the parasite.She only realized now that d was a dhampir, asking question about it wasn't an option since all his answers were short.

After a few days of agonizing silence the horse finally stopped at what seemed to be at the edge of the forest, beyond the forest was a field full with flowers.Y/N quickly jumps of the horse ''There is a town nearby'' d says while watching Y/N walk towards the field flourished with flowers.

''How strong are you'' you turn around to face the dhampir, ''My powers are . . . limited'' you answer, confused on why he would ask such a question or a question at all.

''There is a rumor going around that there is a cyclops that protects the village'' says lefty sounding strangely happy ''And'' Y/N says even more confused, ''kill it'' d says looking more serious.

''ok, where is it'' turning to face the grove, lefty says while grinning with dry old lips ''walk to the middle and you will see'' before Y/N was about to turn d put out his hand and in it was her sword ''How long have you had this'' Y/N says grabbing it, ''l would finish the fight before nightfall''d says before walking towards the horse.

Y/N starts speed walking to the middle of the field looking behind to see if he's still there.Once she made it she waited and waited . . . . . . swiftly turning around and screaming 'l cant see it'' hands around your mouth to try make you sound louder.

the ground . . . the ground wss collapsing, you quickly sprint to the area of that wasn't tumbling into it self.You look behind you to see a grotestic creature.

Its skin was deep red it, well the more you looked at it you realised it was not its skin that was red. Fangs protruded from the things jaw, arms the length of roofs and feet larger that rivers.[idk the height lets just say cyc is as big as king kong or godzilla]

'was this some type of test and why so ugly ', as if the cyclops could read her mind it turned to her and started booking it towards her.y/n took one look behind her and then started to run towards it.

Y/N  used the monster's size and slowness to her advantage and attacked the Creature from all sides with her  naginata sword  making waves ofskin  she knew with one wrong move should be pushed back into the forest and she was not ready to embarrass herself in front of the dhampir.even with the size difference she was able to climb up the cyclops leg and purpal herself into the sky.

Taking the knocking out the sword she makes a swift cut through the air singing the monster swirling back.  Going in for another blow, the universe sprinted towards the creature  only realizing that it was only realizing there was a mistake when it started waving its arms in the air, almost crashing her to death.   

''Should we help her'' said lefty trying to see the fight but d hand was on the reins making it difficult for him to see you know ''I would normally not to care for people like her but we need her to finish the mission I'll be getting lots of money for it'' D  gave the parasite  a look ''she's fine''

Y/N  looked up at the creature and says ''I'm sorry, I'll make sure your death is quick.''

 You know closes her eyes and started chanting illegible words. The creature looks  down at her and realizes its fate.

Hearing her words d turns to look at her and sees that she has defeated the monster. ''Witch she's a witch that's why she needs her'' Lefty says, sounding as though he had just solved an unsolvable question . D rides his horse towards the dead creature and Y/N 

''how was that''Y/N says with a big grin on her face, ''we should start heading towards the town'' his says so nonchalantly.you make a face then grabbing your naginata, you turn around to see D riding.

Wait!

Whoosh went the leaves as Y/N  jumped up from were she was laying,she surveyed her surroundings she was still in the forest.the man with the crazy hat nowhere to be seen, ''perfect'' she thought this will be an easy escape.

She broke out in a sprint, Y/N felt different she could feel that she was not alone. . .fear was building up on her until

And then she was falling, this doesn't make sense.She spent the few seconds of falling to think about what the hell is happening before landing flat on her face.

'Oh look she is finally awake, I thought she would have been dead after getting hit with that branch'' came a disembodied voice. Y/N lifts her head to see the man who took her, quickly jumping up and putting distance between her and the stranger.

''Who are you'' asked Y/N  trying to conceal her fear, ''D'' said the figure his voice not matching the one she heard while on the ground his was more deep and mysterious.

''What do you want'' Y/N  said getting agitated by the man calmness, ''nothing personal'' he replies. . . then starts walking no striding towards faster than any human, Y/N  quickly reaches for naginata but its not there ''shit''

The trees

In no time Y/N  found herself standing on one of the trees branches 'run' she thought, each leap she took she could hear him ganing up to then galloping, she looks behind her to see that horse ''how'' she thought.

But what she didn't know was that she was about to hit herself in face with another branch and again she landed on her face. Y/N sits up while d stops his creepy horse in front of her.

''So, you going to kill me or somethin''Y/N says trying to be as nonchalants as possible, ''lm just trying to do my job'' he says again with no emotion. ''And what is this job exactly'', ''We were sent by one of the human nobles to bring you to her alive and you are going to come with us'' again that disembodied voice.

''Why should i do that''y/n skeptaly ''we are both getting paid 20 000 dollars each'' d finally saying something

''That's a lot of money . . . . fine i'll come with you'' you say while walking towards the horse ''do you mind if i ride with you, we met each other on the very wrong foot'' he stretches out his left hand and before you could grab it you saw a face, probably where the disembodied voice came from ''Your more gorgeous in person'' its says hinting to something.

You make a face then grab the strangers fingers not wanting to touch the parasite,you sit behind him back to back.Then we started moving, she watched as she went deeper and deeper in the forest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
