Headcanon:
If a Padawan dies before having the chance to become a Knight, they are given the honour and title post mortem
A sort of knighthood at honorem.
Well buddy thank you for breaking my heart-
adding an excerpt from my jedi headcanon doc (forever a WIP)
Death of an Apprentice
The death of a padawan is considered a tragedy. A bereft master will return to the temple as soon as possible after completing their duties. If on an extended mission, the Jedi auxiliary medical corps may be sent to retrieve the body. Upon return to the temple, the funeral is held. For the master, this is a time of deep reflection and self-searching. No blame is innately laid on them - the Force moves as it wills - but it remains their responsibility to understand why things happened as they did, and what part they played in them.
After the death of an apprentice, a ten-month period is cursory before the master may consider taking on another padawan, to allow for the wound left by a severed training bond to heal. Some masters choose to don a white cloak during this time, signifying that they are in mourning.
Another common observance is that of a posthumous knighting, usually done before the funeral; The apprentice's braid is cut, and altered vows of Knighthood spoken. Though departed, the apprentice is symbolically elevated to the status of knight, honoring their sacrifice and their service.
By the right of the Council, by the Will of the Force, I bid you farewell, [name], Jedi Knight.
thank you for breaking my heart pt. 2
Codywanweek 2026
Hi everyone!! Life has been kind of insane and I haven't been able to sit still long enough to actually make this post. I'm sorry to anyone that was waiting for replies to messages!
Now on to the actual announcement:
Finish* a Codywan WIP!
Because of the aforementioned life weirdness, we already decided earlier in the year that we won't be doing a prompt week this year. Instead, grab your favourite codywan WIP or unused prompt from past years and take this opportunity to share your progress!
Did you miss codywanweek 2020 but the prompts were so cool? Write/draw something new for a past prompt and share it here for all to see!
Do you have that one codywan WIP on the bottom of the pile that you actually really love? Maybe it's time for a little push to finish that next chapter or turn that sketch into some clean lines!
Or, did you post something for codywanweek in the past that you'd like to rewrite/draw? Feel free to share a new version with us this year!
Post your progress sometime in the last week of August (24th-30th of August)
When you make the post, @ this blog and use the tag #codywanweek2026! Then we will reblog it asap. If we haven't reblogged it in 24 hours, please don't hesitate to send a message!
* You don't need to complete the WIP to participate.
Find the links to previous prompts below!
2025: 2025 prompts

Here’s obiwan to finish the set for @kilawater’s mando codywan series “tidally locked” on Ao3 (I took some leeway with some elements) Cody’s armor is already posted 🤓

Hey so kilawater’s tidally locked series on ao3 is actually so incredible. Idk if they have a tumblr but I needed to draw their Cody design (design is not mine just my interpretation)
love a man in uniform
Cody's uniform is by @rochenn, original post here! Ty for letting me use the design!
One aspect of Codywan I find so interesting is that, at least in the beginning, Cody and Obi-Wan are likely fighting the war from objectively two different perspectives. Their interests do align, but their end goal is not always the same. Cody’s goal is to win the war, and Obi-Wan is a Jedi, even though the Jedi are commanded by the senate, their main goal is still to help people. I think this would likely present several interesting conflicts, especially early in the war. There’s probably several instances where the different perspectives would clash. Like, Cody can do the math and make a decision that destroying a space port is their most effective way to complete their objective, but Obi-Wan knows that the people of the planet here just watched a Jedi cruiser appear in their atmosphere and he knows that whatever they do next will reflect on these people’s opinion of the Jedi forever. Cody most likely has to teach Obi-Wan that he himself is a resource. If Obi-Wan expends all his energy to help everyone in a small skirmish, then he ends up risking losing even more people during a larger more dangerous part of the battle. Ultimately, they both would have to learn and teach each other a different form of sacrifice. Obi-Wan has to learn how to sacrifice others in order to complete their objectives, and Cody has to learn that sometimes the objective is the sacrifice, in order to save innocent people caught up in the war. I thinks it’s just interesting the ways Codywan probably fundamentally change each other throughout the war
@bookwyrmofthenorth Yes, you hit it exactly on the head. They both likely are still the same deep down, probably sometimes desperately clinging to that aspect of themselves, because sometimes it has to feel like all they are is what they know. And it’s important because both of them probably need the other to stay the same deep down. They have to rely on the other being on the opposite side of the scale so they can balance out, so they don’t both end up slipping to one side, so they can remember both what’s important and how to achieve it. The amount of balance these two find in each other is probably sometimes the only thing that keeps them going.
Yessss "they need the other to stay the same deep down" and they also need to stay that same person for themselves. In order not too sleep too much on one side or the other but also because. Who is Obi-Wan Kenobi if not the Jedi? If not the man who will do everything and anything to save people and keep them alive? He has learned to let go when people die, yes, but it's not the same as making the calculations and willingly someone other than him to die. And if he can't keep this part of himself... who is Obi-Wan Kenobi without it. And same for Cody. Cody who had to make the tough decision from a young age, who had to watch brothers be marched away with the Kaminoans and knowing he couldn't do anything because he can't do anyone any good dead and those brothers are dead men walking. Who is Marshal Commander Cody if he hasn't felt that weight? They are who they are at their core, and they wouldn't be the same people if this was different, wouldn't be each half of the 3rd Systems Army command pair, wouldn't be who they fell in love with

Posting this because of the prev post, but I've had this headcanon in a while.
Imagine Cody during the Solitary Clone ep; he's ordered his general (a man he trusted, a man he loved; he painted his armour grey in mourning, his has tears on his bucket) shot down. He lost his battalion, his men. He's leading children into battle, brothers that have barely left Kamino, that have never earned their paint and probably never will. He is a good soldier, he follows orders, but what he does... General Kenobi would have never ordered him to do that. There is blood on his hands, the blood of innocents and no pragmatism, not practicality, no war tactics can explain it. The Jedi were slaughtered in their Temple, even the younglings. And his brothers did it. Under his orders. He is sent to cull rebellions and kill dissidents, or are they just terrified civilians?
So I've seen this post of mine get liked and reblogged lately and it's reminded me that I did write a fic based on this idea for CWW, but I hadn't reblogged it with this
Here it is

Deadpan humor at its finest. Raise your hand if you think highly competent Commander Cody would win this championship.
They look so pretty here!
1st attempt at a GAR non-combat uniform redesign. I'm trying to keep the general shapes, colors and lack of pockets while adding some irl-inspired and unit-specific decorations. Also, HOW have we never seen what officers wear beneath their jackets??
@offbrandnatureink certainly! :D
Here's the breakdown:
Embroidered collar patch: republic emblem motif with stars (very low res drawing lol); found on irl generals, I decided to put it on Cody here bc Marshal Commander is the highest rank a clone can be
Crossed rifles; shock troops qualification badge
Starbird; Jedi unit qualification badge
Data stick (you see every other officer in Andor and also Bail Organa wear these like decorations)
Corps badge: "7th Sky Corps" with the silhouette of a star destroyer
Branch emblem (Republic Navy)
Center badge: emblem/symbol of the Open Circle Fleet
Rank insignia
"Name" plate
That shoulder clip thing the officers also wear in Andor that seems to be both a formal add-on and something to affix their lanyards to
Infantry shoulder cord(s); additional cords awarded for leadership feats
Unit emblem; rising sun of the 212th Attack Battalion
Marksmanship cord; certifies mastery
Marksmanship cord decorations; certify won marksmanship contests beyond the mastery certificate
My inspiration came from spending some days around a wide variety of military uniforms from all over Europe last week at a security conference. I had a blast :D
-> Also, the red cuff seams and cuff shape are stolen from the uniforms of Lithuanian generals, and the red collar patch can be seen on generals of many nations as well. The "marksmanship cord" along with the extra decoration for contest rewards is stolen from German infantry service dress.
Cobbling all of this into a Star Wars vibe is super fun!! We see the Imperials in Andor wearing all sorts of coats and capes which I assume are evolutions of GAR dress, too, so I'd love to design some GAR capes, greatcoats, trenchcoats etc as well :D
WIP Wednesday
It’s been a hot second since I’ve written anything as the horrors (health and work and the general state of the world) have been persistent, but I missed Codywan.
“Drop the blaster.”
Oh. Oh. Cody knew that voice. He heard it in his dreams, both the soft ones and the nightmares from which he woke screaming. His blaster hit the ground, not because of the ghost’s command, but because his fingers were suddenly trembling in a way they never did, and his heart was hammering away in his chest so hard he was afraid it might burst.
A relieved laugh, an apology, and a scream of grief stuck in his throat, and Cody couldn’t swallow around the lump as the ghost ordered him to his knees. The crunch of rotting boards seemed to echo through the old house as he dropped to the floor, and he felt a hysterical sob building and tried to hold it back, but it broke free, the choked noise deafening in the darkness.
“I killed you.”
“You certainly tried.”
“Senator Organa sent me. I’m the one that’s here to get you out.”
“And why would he send you of all people to save me?”
It struck him that Obi-Wan didn’t know, that he thought his men had turned on him, that he thought Cody had turned on him. He didn’t even try to hold back the hysterical sob at the realization. How could he explain so much when they didn’t have any time?
When had they ever had enough time?
“We have to go. I need you to trust me.”
“I did once, and that is not a mistake I will make again.”
Cody expected the blaster bolt and rolled, and the stunner just missed him. He was honestly a little surprised that Obi-Wan wasn’t shooting to kill given what had happened, but it gave Cody hope that he could make him listen. He ducked into the nearest room, narrowly avoiding the second shot, and he drew in a deep breath, hoping he got the chance to plead his case.
Wide brown eyes met his when he looked up, and the world spun violently as he took in the small figure just a few steps away, a young girl with dark curls and tan skin with a smattering of freckles over her nose. The resemblance fully registered a heartbeat before he was forcefully yanked from the room and sent careening into the wall, everything growing hazy and grey for a few moments before a familiar snap hiss made his blood run cold. Was Obi-Wan really going to execute him in front of their daughter?
How many Jedi had he and his brothers executed without question?
If you see this on your dashboard, reblog this, NO MATTER WHAT and all your dreams and wishes will come true.
Oh hey! Haven’t seen this in forever! Didn’t reblog it when it came across me before, not gonna skip it this time, I need some good vibes.
