What is an XML sitemap?
You know well, that you need to rank in the top results of search engines( Google, Bing, Yandex, etc) to gain traffic and views for your blogs. Writing and posting many blogs isn’t going to help unless people view it.
In order to get your blog listed in Google’s results, you need to notify Google for every change you make in your site(your website), and that is done by a sitemap.
What Exactly Is An XML Sitemap?
An XML sitemap is a list of all the important contents of your website in the form of URL’s and gives search engines a hint on what to list in their search results and what to ignore.
“But, hey Bikash which content is important?”
Tags, posts, categories, archives, pages, etc; Whatever you want others(public) to see. But, excluding content like admin login page, and maybe some authors archive if you want, which should never ever get listed anywhere in the search results.
One thing to keep in mind, a sitemap does guarantee the awareness of changes made to your website to Google, but not to list your content in the top results.
