We are a traumagenic, fictive heavy system! I’ve decided to encourage everyone in the system to use this blog, so we’ll have different tags for different alters (though some of us will use fake names either for privacy, or because many of us are fictives and either are embarrassed of their source or are from sources that people tend to be shitty about, even if they claim to not apply their opinions about media to fictives from that media)

I think it is absolutely incredible that humans are SO intelligent and complex that we literally cannot differentiate what is truly part of our wiring and biological makeup and what we just Made Up one day and kept doing- the fact that we have to observe wild animals to gain insight about OUR OWN SPECIES, because we so efficiently make shit up and go with it that we literally don’t fucking know what is and isn’t inherent to us as a species fully

People that relentlessly bitch about people saying “poc people” or “poc characters” are the worst kinds of semantic jackasses, it’s exactly the same as “atm machine,” it’s a complete nonissue and there’s no reason to literally go into peoples inboxes like “just so you know that’s redundant<3″ literally who cares. I don’t go into people’s inboxes and talk down to them because the word “irregardless’“ irks me (context: it’s “regardless”, adding the ir- makes it a double negative)

You know, it’s pretty sad that people with NPD and/or NPD traits who want to follow PTSD and abuse survivor information and activism blogs first have to check the tags of the blog to look out for anything anti-NPD.

You want people with NPD to recover, you say you empathize with them and the people around them by saying that, yet you don’t allow them in any healing spaces. “Because survivors here had narcissistic abusers!” That makes generalizing every person with NPD trying to find solace and a sense of community justified to you? Someone reaching out?

I was attacked by a person with Borderline Personality Disorder when they split, a person with Schizotypal Personality Disorder, a man with depression and ADHD, and the abuse that’s hurt me the most psychologically was from someone who’s diagnosed with Panic Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Can you make sure to not include any of those disorders in your activism and make it clear how to spot the signs of their abuse?….Or are you just being ableist towards NPD?

what “don’t encourage the delusion” means:

don’t argue with or challenge the delusion—attempting to disprove someone’s delusions is not helpful at all and will result in that person not trusting you

assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times

encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others

start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms

do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode

what it does not mean:

insisting to a psychotic person experiencing psychosis that what they’re experiencing isn’t real

I don’t mean to trivialize psychosis by making a weird comparison, but this guide also serves as a handy checklist for helping someone through a bad drug trip. In both cases your number one priority is to get the person through whatever they’re dealing with unharmed.

What i think a lot of ppl dont get is that the stigma and misinformation about mental illnesses didnt just arise out of nowhere.

Ppl think that schizophrenics have multiple personalities bc it literally used to be part of the diagnostic criteria of the disorder, ppl think autistics are unable to lead a life on their own bc only the most severe cases used to be diagnosed, its a common misconception that you grow out of adhd bc psychologists used to believe that!

And its still the same with some disorders. Why does everyone think that narcissists abuse others? Or that antisocials are always the worst criminals ever? Because psychologists think that way.
