A League of Their Own (1992)
Me and my girlfriend did a lil photo shoot in our regalia back in December
Oh we’re engaged now btw 💍
Just so we’re clear, if I point out that you did something racist, that’s not the same as me thinking you’re irremediably terrible. You did a racist thing.
You think you don’t do racist things, homophobic things, etc? You do. I caught myself in fat phobic and homophobic lines of thinking/speech just this morning. I’m fucking gay married. Nothing disqualifies you from acting in a way that reflects the society you exist in. We are obliged to fight it. Why not fight it in honesty and with camaraderie?
"So okay, you're probably going, 'Is this like a Noxzema commercial or what?' But seriously, I actually have a way normal life for a teenage girl." "Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to distress her."
CHER HOROWITZ and EMMA WOODHOUSE 1/2 From Clueless (1995), Emma. (2020) adaptations of Jane Austen's Emma
I know that, canonically, Shane's family is very small (i think Rachel mentioned this in an interview?) but i like to imagine he has a gazillion uncles, aunts, cousins and nieces, mostly because the idea of both him and Ilya immersing themselves in petty and mostly harmless gossip about Shane's relatives is incredibly funny and also kind of wholesome.
Idk I just live for the idea of Shane, Ilya, Yuna and David going to a family event and then debriefing in the car, laughing and talking all kinds of shit about Shane's great uncle who had a late life crisis and cheated on his wife for months. The wife of course found out about it and proceeded to make a huge bonfire with his clothes in their garden (Yuna recomended a great divorce lawyer to her, of course).
It's just a win/win situation for Hollanov: Ilya gets to be part of a family dynamic that's messy but in a funny way, and Shane gets to show his well hidden bitchy side to someone who will not judge him for it.
Nightcrawler doodle cause I kinda miss him
I kind of want to watch women's hockey bc it seems fun to follow but i don't even know where to begin with it lmao speaking as a non-sports person, getting into sports feels more than a little overwhelming
People gave me so many tips to start watching the PWHL games in this post and that made me very happy! Thank you so much ❤️
I'm always amazed by the amount of people who seem to believe that Ilya is allowed to be a complete jackass to Shane because his life sucks.
I'm sorry but the discourse around Vegas/Socchi is so... Ilya is very much being a dick in those scenes. On purpose! Because he is afraid of being vulnerable! That's a very important aspect of his character. And it's of course sad and understandable, as a matter of fact I relate to it a lot, but it doesn't change the fact that He was. Being. A dick! And Shane does not deserve it.
Shane's feelings shouldn't be the acceptable collateral damage of Ilya's unhappiness. It's not his fault that Ilya's life is awful. I mean, hello??
"But he's depressed!" Yeah I'm aware and I have to throw my Depressed Person Card here to say that being depressed does not give you a free pass to be an asshole to anyone. Trust me, I know how hard it is for mentally ill people to give themselves grace and not fall into self loathing when they're struggling, but that can't fall into a place of completely absolving yourself of responsbility re: the way you treat other people.
"But Russia! Shane shouldn't be talking to Ilya there!" I'm sorry, but that's just...Svetlana had 0 problems leaving Ilya and Sasha alone in a fancy event bathroom, and Sasha then tried to make out with Ilya in the same bathroom, and Ilya's main reaction to this was a polite and firm no, but Shane asking him if he's okay from a totally appropriate distance is too much for the russian government? To the point where you guys think it's okay for Ilya to be rude to him and yell about how they're "not anything"?
I just...sometimes I get myself convinced that the Ilya favoritism in the fandom is not that extreme, but then I get exposed to people saying shit like this (while also giving 0 grace for Shane's flaws, to the point where Shane is getting compared to Ilya's abusive father) and it really just dawns on me that no. It really is that bad.

there’s a really beautiful AU that exists in my head where shane is some sort of faceless technically-focused reviewer on youtube (like the lockpicking lawyer) and ilya is a dedicated viewer leaving increasingly horny comments about his hands and like, sending him expensive locks to pick on camera
HollanderUnlocks: Here’s my review of the Litelok X3 bike lock. It’s got its issues, but it’s strong enough for the average bike-rider.
rozzingoff: i have a handcuff lock u could help me out with ;))
HollanderUnlocks: Have you lost the key? If you are currently cuffed but able to reach your phone, I would recommend calling emergency services right away. If you are not currently cuffed: most handcuff locks are relatively simple to pick. I have some other videos on my channel where I discuss lockpicking for beginners, as well as an affiliate link where you can get a 10% discount off your first set of picks, if you don’t have any.
rozzingoff: if i were locked in them could you come save me ;)
HollanderUnlocks: I am not sure where you’re located, but if you’re in need of help, please dial your local emergency services as soon as possible.
the next person who sincerely tries to posit that shane is the grigori to ilya’s irina is getting thrown in a wood-chipper 🫵😐
brother did you even read the fucking book
Yeah this is why I'll never take any kind of discourse about the "woobificafion of Shane" seriously
Jean Harlow
shane and ilya probably stick to a very similar sleeping schedule during the season, but i feel like shane starts getting ready for bed probably a little earlier than ilya because he likes sitting in bed and reading
and i'm laughing about ilya feeling absolutely BETRAYED the first time anya hops off of his lap to trot after shane up to their room
his OWN DAUGHTER-
ilya, she just likes our bed and knows i'm going up
-TO BETRAY HIM LIKE THIS, AFTER EVERYTHING HE HAS DONE-
dude, you could also just come upstairs if you're that fucking bothered about it
-NO LOYALTY IN THIS HOUSE. NONE. ALL AROUND HIM ARE TRAITORS-
you could doomscroll on your phone upstairs if you want, ilya. you're the one choosing to hang out on the couch. c'mon, anya.
ilya trying to tell himself he wants to stay down on the couch and not give shane the satisfaction of giving in but also experiencing MAJOR fomo because the rest of his family is already upstairs for the night
