Was talking with my so about archetypes (and how thinking of them as a courtly knight is hot lol) and I started thinking about knights slaying dragons and how Black Sails uses the archetype of the dragon/monster. I had to rewatch the freedom in the darkness speech and feel all those feels again. Where flint directly addresses the use that civilization has gotten from the dragon as a ravaging unpredictable force that must be fought by knights. Beowulf, Arthur's court - by invoking them on every map: here be dragons, send only knights.
