Trametes versicolor, one of the most beautiful mushrooms and probably the hardest #drawing study I've done in awhile endlessly fascinates me. With it's flowing, yet structural woody forms, striating patterns, smooth and hairy textures and leathery feel, it's a hard one to capture. 🍄✍️ This mushroom is found almost everywhere on dead hardwoods and is the world's great recycler. Primarily digesting lignin in wood, it provides nitrogen and carbon back into the soil. Much can be learned from this intelligent #mushroom.
