@boxofdoom
Having had some time to sit on the CCOD finale, I actually think it was as good as it could have been. Spoilers below the cut, all my own opinion
CCOD has been pretty good, but quite obviously held back by unfamiliarity with VTM and the new sandbox format. The pacing has been a bit all over the place the entire time. They needed it to feel like a real town, so they put a lot of stuff in, but there was simply too much for any of it to have enough focus over time, so things that felt important got dropped quicker than felt satisfying, or introduced later than felt appropriate. I would really like to have seen more of Sweety Pies, or to have gotten Cody and Maya earlier in the series, or for the Douglases to have been more present, or for the election to actually happen, but that's not how the players decided to use the format. I do hope they're setting up for a season 2, because a lot of plot threads were left untied, but what we got in the finale was a good wrap up on a lot of the supernatural things. I'm even hesitant to say they should have dropped the Clown because, while it came out of nowhere and was given way too much focus, it was really funny and this is, primarily, a comedy.
I actually disagree with Brennan that Richard Nixon was the point that they jumped the shark, I really liked his inclusion. He made for a really entertaining villain and, I think, was integrated quite well into the episode.
The whole party were fucking on it this episode (yes, even Alley, their turn was hilarious), but I feel the need to highlight Zac and Lou. Zaeth and Lavonte are easily my favourite characters this season, and a lot happened in the finale to show why. Between Zaeth bicycle kicking Ermine to death and whatever the fuck is going on with Wingworthy, I love what these guys brought to the season.
CCOD isn't my favourite season of D20, but I do really love what it brings to the table, and I hope we get more sandbox style seasons in the future so they can refine the format.

tbh i am so excited by the crumbs of lore we got this episode that i haven't even processed hj and lavonte having the most couple-trying-to-save-their-marriage-coded conversation ive ever fucking heard
Portraits of Darkness Man and Bat Child.
i feel like we can all agree ccod is lou’s fucking season
yknow batchild’s whole thing is a Really good metaphor for disability. actually vampirism as a whole but specifically this right now. having a plan for yr whole life & something happens & you can’t do that anymore and now you feel lost bc what the hell else are you supposed to do? & yeah that grief never really goes away but you grow & you have a community now & a purpose, and maybe you can convince yrself that’s enough, you know?
Ohhhh…gorgeous lesbian couple in my vampire show….ohhhh
I think at this point Banksy has to show up as an NPC before the campaign ends
darkness man: my teeth and predator/reaper mandibles are so annoying and inconvenient when trying to blend in to human society
zaeth, so hard he can't think straight: can you bite my dick off
family meal deal with a rich inner life
i'm so enthralled by him. you could say... i'm in his thrall... HAH. vampires
