If modest is gone then why is Louis still stuck with babygate and Danielle?
This is something Iâve been meaning to talk about.
This fandom has blamed Modest for the stunts since as long as I can remember. And antis used to yell at us âModest arenât their bosses!!! The boys contracted Modest!!!â
You know what? They were right⊠We never operated under the assumption that Syco had their image rights and the fandom was blind and called Simon Cowell uncle Sy. No one knew about how strict the X Factor contracts were and we turned a blind eye as to how manipulative and vindictive Simon had shown to be with his former clients. Thatâs on us, the information was out there but we didnât put it together until recently. In fact, Iâll take the blame and admit that I thought Modest and Sony were at war, that Sony were the good guys and Modest were the bad guys.
Part of assuming this was that we thought the boys had willingly renovated their contract with Syco in 2013. And why would they do that if Sony was evil? Well, we didnât know back then that it probably wasnât an optional renovation. That record labels have the freedom of adding one-sided end of contract dates. Say, one album and the label hasnât got any further obligation, but they also have first pick and can re-sign you without you having the choice of saying no (or only having the choice of saying no, but if you stay out of the music industry for [x amount of time]). Look it up, thatâs STANDARD PROCEDURE for new bands. In fact, as @srslycris has pointed out to me, standard procedure is several of these. Say, 2/3 one-sided renovation options.
So⊠the evil geniuses were always Syco/Simon/Sony call it whatever.
With that said, Modest can burn in hell, because thatâs where it gets ugly: Management companies are supposed to help their clients with their contracts. Get the best deals for them, the best conditions, protect them from abusive labels.
A music manager (or band manager) may handle career areas for bands, singers, and DJs. A music manager may be hired by a musician or band, or the manager may discover the band, and the relationship is usually contractually bound with mutual assurances, warranties, performances guarantees, and so forth. The managerâs main job is to help with determining decisions related to career moves, bookings, promotion, business deals, recording contracts, etc.
But Modest did exactly the opposite. They managed the band not taking into consideration what was best for them, but what was best for the label. Why? Because the label had hired them.
So the first devil is gone, now we need to wait to see if Syco and HJPR are gone as well. Syco is the one enforcing all the stunts (in addition to about 1000 other horrible things theyâve done to the boys including overworking them, tanking their promotion, picking the worst possible singles, marketing towards pre-teens even after the boys all surpassed their 20s, encouraging stalking behaviour, etc, etc, etc).
