Being a system that prefers singular & clinical language can feel a bit othering sometimes. I call my parts, well… parts. I like to use clinical terminology for myself and default to it. I’m not super fond of we/us/ours. I definitely don’t throw any shade to systems who do like less clinical language, I just find it hard to relate to the wider community most of the time as someone who views hirself through a very medical lens.

I experience the variety of amnesia where I'm so certain I'm not forgetting anything that's happening, it all feels fluid and normal, until someone asks me to talk about my week and I realize there's nothing there.

I tried yet another doctor but NO, again, they just dismiss my medical concerns as “effects of The Curse” and “really more appropriate to be treated by a priest or something”

trying to figure out who we are lately is like staring at a multiple choice question that also says "select all that apply" and then ALSO the final answer slot says "none of the above" or "other: _________"

I wish people could see me as someone who is relatively successful and who also has DID. But it’s always either/or. I just know my life would be so much less exhausting if I could get the accommodations I need without people thinking I’m crazy.

Small reminder that DID is often a covert disorder and overt DID is actually pretty rare. A person could go their whole life without knowing they have DID because that's the point. You do not need to know who you are all the time or who's fronting or need to feel like you're a faker because you act the same pretty much all the time. You do not need to act drastically different between your headmates to be valid.

Yeah also I'm stubborn af so typically I back up and ram into the glass door again and again hoping that it will magically open until I hurt myself

can’t believe i have to say this but negligence is abuse. if a child is struggling and there is no action taken to help that child, that is abuse. if a child’s needs are ignored, that is abuse. if children are told to “suck it up” or punished for expressing their needs, that is abuse. if a child is suffering and you don’t care— that is abuse.

it doesn’t matter if it’s purposeful or intentional, neglect is neglect and children, especially young children, need adults to help them thrive.

Reviving this semi-dead blog because our therapist wants us to get assessed for Autism and we’re kinda freaking out. Does anyone have any tips or advice??
