The big twist at the end, when oak crowns Cardan instead of the other way around. why do you think Jude pulled that trick? did she only have the well-being of Elfhame and its citizens in mind? Because Jude was always power hungry, she only wanted to be better than the faeries and hardly ever cared about the greater good. Granted, her character went through a transition at the end but I can’t help but think that crowning Cardan was a self-serving move. Just as Madoc saw the benefits of Oak as king, Jude saw  how she can flip things to her side with Cardan as the king. I do not think she is completely selfish though, as she protected oak and stopped Elfhame from heading towards bloodshed with Madoc at the helm. However, Jude was always morally ambiguous and it is consistent with her character to think of her own benefits while planning. Which of course, makes her an even more compelling character.
