fuck unique experiences I love discovering that thousands of people did the exact same weird shit I did. we are all so much more similar than we are different and that’s part of the beauty of humanity.
can we kill Charlie kirk again that would just really cheer me up
when reading a book, do you read the prologue/epilogue?
yes
prologue only
epilogue only
no
nuance (comments/tags)
Looking at the tags, a lot of people are blessedly unaware of the Discourse, for posterity:
do they think... that prologues and epilogues... which take place within the story and are very much inside of the same book as the rest of the pages... don't count as part of the book....???.....

rocky learns about yawning
"Rocky my hand is up" he is SUCH a teacher omg I love him
The first thing Ryland should do when he gets into his biosphere is run. He hasn't had to space to actually, properly, run in so long. Plus then you get Rocky being confused why Ryland is jetting off the second he steps foot in there. Rocky give tour! Why Grace leave! Where you going?
reblogging with screenshots of all my favorite tags from op, @justabigoldnerd, @cdazzle, and @shastafirecracker because there were so many good thoughts in the tags on this post!!!!!
just started a new rewatch of tua season 1. it's been a few years since I've seen this first season and my opinion of the show has obviously been affected by seasons 2-4
dear god I forgot how absolutely electric this first season is. we're thrown right into it from the very beginning. the cinematography is so interesting and gives us cool information and character development just from different shots of the awesome sets. I love the shots of characters, specifically viktor so far, wandering through the streets of the city.
the dance scene! (first of all I barely see it acknowledged that luther canonically is a Tiffany fan, can we speak on that) but the strong show of how disconnected the siblings feel even while they're doing the same thing (dancing). the zoom out shot of them all in different rooms in the huge house, proving that though their connection (their childhood) is disparate and broken they are still connected at their core.
the sets, the costuming, i love the flashbacks so so much, they tell us everything we need to know without having a clunky dialogue-heavy info dump.
the characters bounce off each other in interesting ways that showcase their individual neuroses and trauma, and it leaves you unsatisfied with every conversation they have which just leads to the desire for more conversations lol.
I also think it's incredibly funny how unsubtle five and hazel and cha-cha are. they're the elite assassins of the time commission but hazel and cha-cha are shooting up department stores and kidnapping people. meanwhile five doesn't think to remove his tracker or, when he finally does remove it, leave it somewhere that isn't connected to the bunch of goons he just killed? how the fuck does the commission get anything done, honestly, they're a battering ram that could be a knife.
obviously the music is also great, but i did remember that.

My top 10 moments in the Stormlight Archives
10. Kaladin swears the Fifth Ideal to save the spren and Syl (Wind and Truth) If he did not act, Retribution would kill it, and Syl, and all of them. Kaladin had to hide the Winds, the Heralds, and the last bits of Honor away.
9. Veil and Radiant manifest physically and hold Shallan's hands in the Battle of Thaylen Field (Oathbringer) Together, they had raised an army.
8. Maya speaks up in Adolin's trial (Rhythm of War) "We chose!" "You cannot have my sacrifice. Mine. My sacrifice."
7. Tien and Teft's memories talk Kaladin into swearing the Fourth Ideal (Rhythm of War) "I will accept that there will be those I cannot protect."
6. Navani tricks Raboniel into stepping on the painrial and Raboniel tells her to take the notebook and run (Rhythm of War) "I cannot hear rhythms... My soul...dying... You tricked me well, Navani. Clever, clever. Well...done."
5. Teft swears the Third Ideal and opens the Oathgate of Urithiru (Oathbringer) "I will protect those I hate. Even if the one I hate the most is myself." Teft. Knight Radiant.
4. Kaladin jumps into the arena to help Adolin and Renarin (Words of Radiance) "Honor is dead. But I'll see what I can do."
3. Dalinar refuses to give up his pain to Odium and opens Honor's perpendicularity (Oathbringer) "YOU CANNOT HAVE MY PAIN!"
2. Adolin understands that a promise is deeper than an oath (Wind and Truth) An oath can be broken, but a promise?
1. Bridge Four goes back for the Kholin troops (The Way of Kings) "Are windspren attracted to wind, or do they make it?" "Storming fools. Shouldn't have followed me. Proud of them anyway."
fairytales which tell you to be both kind and clever fairytales that say to be kind is to be clever and to be clever is to be kind fairytales that say the cleverest thing you can ever do is choose kindness and that cruelty or thoughtlessness are always foolish but not kindness never kindness
you bring oil for the gate and food for the dog and clean out the oven and bake bread in it and the oven will hide you and the dog will not betray you and the gate will stay open for you and close on your pursuers, to be clever is just to know that if you are good in a world made of rules, goodness will be returned to you.
In [fairy tales], power is rarely the right tool for survival anyway. Rather the powerless thrive on alliances, often in the form of reciprocated acts of kindness —from beehives that were not raided, birds that were not killed but set free or fed, old women who were saluted with respect. Kindness sown among the meek is harvested in crisis.

Mr Grace and his little ducklings
Teacher!Ryland Headcanons that I’d turn into a fanfic if I had the time and energy:
- Ryland works at a science camp over the summer, and volunteers to teach at STEM college programs for kids. He has no life so he decides to do this instead of sitting in his own misery or going on failed dates
- Ryland had a stray cat for a while, which he’d take photos of and bring into class. He let his students name the cat, but he had to get rid of it when he started working on the patrova line
- His students bring him homemade food and snacks all the time. Unlike his coworkers who throw away these types of gifts, Ryland always eats them. He often gets sick because 13 year olds cannot cook
- Instead of trying to speak Gen z brainrot, Ryland avoids it like the plague. His students find this fear of slang hilarious and use it around him constantly, to the point where Ryland starts to slip up accidentally
- Right before the Patrova line was discovered, Ryland was considering adoption. When he realized the world was probably going to end, he didn’t have the heart to watch someone he cared for suffer or die, so he backed out of it
