Going into 2020 with this quote still in my head - it is a take on the “If you don’t try you won’t succeed” but I think much more appropriately said. I plan to follow it where it takes me and continue to pursue the independence and freedom in work that I desire. To make and create - to make that my means of income so I can pursue a life disregarding and overcoming obstacles rather than looking around them and waiting for them to move.

My latest - a small flower cluster in warm, fuzzy, autumn colours for you to enjoy as the days start to get cooler now. Well this is quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever made. These “best buds” were inspired by the MANY little succulents and house plants that continue to take over our place. “Flowers for our Future” was something I made - in a funny sort of way - to remind myself of what inspires me to draw flowers and plants, that they are more than just decoration. Planted flowers do so much more than make your home look nice, they attract and feed pollinators like butterflies, moths, and bees who are all so important to a much larger world than our own backyards. ⁣ ⁣ My love and passion for plants and nature inspires and connects me to the content of my art and sometimes I need to remind myself of that. They are aesthetic things that bring me joy by reminding me of the feeling of walking through a field of wildflowers or picking raspberries with my grandmother, helping in the garden, receiving a basket of homegrown tomatoes from a neighbor, or merely admiring the gardens of a stranger’s home. The Karner Blue butterfly is Extirpated in Ontario, meaning we no longer get to see these beauties here. Lovely, light, and delicate looking butterflies, they used to exist near Pinery and Long Point, even with records from Toronto through to Sarnia.⁣ ⁣ Once again, habitat loss is the main culprit for the loss of these lovelies. The “Wood-Poppy” - a perennial herb with yellow, four petaled flowers. Searching through some older stuff for some new ideas/directions to work in and I found this one of a Small Emperor Moth.
