she had to laugh at his words. “some of the best conversations i’ve had have been with the voices in my head,” she said lightly, though she knew the voices in beck’s head meant something vastly different to hers. still, she hoped that was a safe joke to make.

as they began walking, serena stole a glance behind her, at the street the car had pulled into. her lips pursed to the side, worry in her eyes — but at the question, she was brought back to their conversation. again, she forced a chuckle. “ah, i’m hardly ever bothered. only when a love one’s life is at stake or, y’know … there’s a serial killer about,” she waved her hand airily. her light demeanour wavered though. “it’s … um … i think they’re trying to bother me. but i’m trying not to be. bothered, i mean.”

“at least you get along with yours.” he shrugged as they continued walking. paying no mind to anything else. then we she began to speak he raised a brow... something was far more off with serena.

“they who?” he questioned, not stopping but looking back to were she had moments ago, “someone following you, serena?” he questioned further. beckham didn’t exactly have a savior complex but he also didn’t want to see serena hurt.. she didn’t deserve that. “just keep walking with me and tell me what’s going on.”

she forced a quick laugh. “uh, no — i — i’ve got it under control, don’t worry,” she tapped the side of her eye and made a motion as if closing a faucet. “i might just need some company until … i get closer to main street or there’s more people around or something,” serena sighed, glancing down at her shoes before looking up to meet his eye with an apologetic smile. “promise i won’t bother you for long.”

beckham raised a brow in question, seemed like she may be in some sort of trouble... and it wasn’t that serena needed help or that beck was one to offer, but, something was pushing him to make sure she was alright. so, against his (not-so) better judgement he decided to walk with her. it wasn’t like he was going anywhere besides the casino.

tilting his head for her to follow suit he started walking in the other direction. “what the hell! better than talking to the voices in my head.” he said with a shrug. maybe he shouldn’t push it but beckham needed to know, “no one’s bothering you, are they?”

location: out on a street somewhere

the black-and-white car ( known to many to be undoubtedly the car of cruella de vil ) rolled up its driver’s window before screeching off the curb and speeding down the road. before leaving serena in the dust, the driver looked as if she had been yelling at serena for a minute or two, finding her on the road and parking right next to her. finally left alone, serena hugged her arms around herself and frowned, an unsettled look in her eye.

as someone rounded the corner, she didn’t hesitate to take a step towards them, almost automatic. “ um … i’m sorry, but is it okay if i walk with you ? to the … ” she gestured awkwardly, as if forgetting where she was, “ to anywhere ? ”

beckham was in the business of minding his own for almost everyone in the world but a select few. serena seemed to be upset and there had been a couple times she had helped him out... so, as much as he wanted to just say no he couldn’t actually do that to her. “uh, depends am i gonna need a box’a tissues?”

Haven had been thrilled to get to babysit Kieran for Sora. She’d bonded with the baby and she was always happy to give her friend some time without the responsibility. Beck had shown up with Ben since neither of them were going to the ball, babysitting together seemed like a good idea. It had been easy enough managing the two since they’d mostly tired each other out. She smiled as she bent over to place Ben next to Kieran in the playpen they were using for their bed for tonight. “Can you pass me the blanket on the couch, baby?”

“here you go, honey.” beckham replied with an emphasis on her pet name. he looked down at the two as they slept. it was so odd... being a parent. he really had no clue what he was doing at all and here haven was perfect at it. it made sense she was way smarter than he’d ever be. but, it was just like she was born with a natural instinct to care for them. beck had no idea to get his son from crying but as soon as haven picked him up he would stop right away. it was crazy to beck.. it’s like ben recognized that warmth and safety that haven also made beck feel when shew as around. "kinda weird isn’t it..?”

He constantly got stuck in the middle. “You act like it’s peachy fucking keen!” Logan wasn’t great at this communication shit but Beck was worse. “I don’t know! You’re the one who’s closer to him. beckham didn’t even reply to his comment at first he just rolled his eyes and waved him off. he knew that things where far from peachy. things had taken a turn from good to bad to worse rather quickly around here... but not for him or his siblings. so beckham was content. he would be a liar to say he didn’t feel bad. “i’m far from close. i just do as i’m told and shut the fuck up.” beckham huffed, “and if you wanna stay the pretty one you need to learn how to do just that.” he wasn’t fond of the thought of orion grabbing up logan.. in fact his anger begin to creep up.

“It’s a talisman not a miracle worker.” She rolled her eyes playfully. She’d long since given up trying to figure out why she was attached to Beck. She simply was. She knew that this Beck he was with her was often buried and hidden away from the world with only glimpses to be seen when necessary. But he saw part of her no one else did either. She never deluded herself into thinking this was more than it was. They were good friends and they cared about each other but even as he looked at her like that, she refused to think it was love.

He was being soft and it made things harder. “You would never. You’d make me cry.” He wouldn’t. She knew he wouldn’t give it away. She went easily into the kiss as she always did. “I’m sure but if you really want to give me something I wouldn’t stop you.”

“same difference.” he huffed rolling his eyes. before sitting it carefully down on the coffee table. he would keep it regardless the comments he made. beck needed all the good luck in the world.

“god, you wanna be just like me. next you’ll be covered in tattoos and fighting strangers.” he teased. “you were a pretty hot blonde.” he recalled, “but i’m past positive you’d look good in anything.” he winked, of course he was schmoozing her up after being gone for a while. god how he had missed her lips, her sitting in his lap, their conversations, the feeling of his hands on her skin. she was literally honey. “hm, i know what i want to give you now but i can’t wrap it in a box.” he said with a cheeky grin. god, he was a dog. but he couldn’t help it. it felt like she was gone for ages. he wanted to be wrapped up in her warmth again.

“if you could have anything in the world right now. what would you want?” he asked playfully, “but don’t give me some bullshit world peace answer, alright?”

beckham huffed, “some fucking friends.” which was true.. you meet interesting people along the way. he would consider meg a friend if he considered anyone that. but, he wasn’t the friend making type anymore. “i don’t stack crates that’s logan and when have i ever been polite?” he asked raising a brow. he knew she was being cheeky but he couldn’t help but feel a slight sting from the comment. “no one is ever out of the game, meg. you just start to play it differently.” he mused, “i don’t see you manhandling anymore.. but i’m sure you can still manipulate.”

beckham nodded as he read the card. hmm, a fair price... depending on what she needed done. the brunette was loyal to orion but he wouldn’t stop himself from making quick cash wherever else he could. and hey clearly the lady was willing to pay and four hundred bucks was four hundred more dollars than he had now. “alright,” he said with a shrug, “i’ll play your little game. what’cha need done?”

“i’m not robbing the place for less than a thousand. but i’ll go knock some shit over or whatever if you want.” he stated plainly has if he was asked this sort of thing all the time.

cruella slipped out of daisy duck’s boutique with a curled lip. squeezing hand sanitiser on her palms, she rubbed them together mercilessly; though she hadn’t touched a single thing in that store, merely walked about with her eyes hidden behind a large pair of red-tinted prada sunglasses. but it was as if being in the shop had tainted her somehow, and god bless the existence of hand sanitiser. from blood to low-class shop air, it really did clean it all.

it was adorable how daisy duck was building her little legacy, but they were brittle lego blocks compared to the house of de vil.

still, the house was teetering on its heels. a month, her new offices had been in construction for a month, and things still did not look as they should. no matter. she was in the middle of starting all over again, after all. rome wasn’t built in a day. and while the streets of elias were a far cry from london’s bond street or the triangle d'or of paris … it was a necessary chore to know her audience. and she needed to see if they knew her.

she did nothing to hide herself. cruella wore her black and white hair in loose curls, and she had on a sleek black dress with a pencil skirt. on her shoulders hung a chanel jacket, and from her elbow hung a purse. boots clacked on the pavement as she walked, making her already tall frame now just brushing past 6 feet. a de vil would never hide but she was trying to be a little more lowkey than usual.

sliding her sunglasses down ever so slightly, she held out her purse to stop the next passerby on the street, and her dark eyes looked into theirs. her smile almost seemed like a wolf’s with how wide it stretched, framed by blood-red lips.

“might you be able to help me with something? would you be a dear? i promise, i’ll make it worth your while.” from her cuff she took out a gift card with $200 on it, and she waved it with a casual, almost lazy air.

beckham came from a town where everyone knew everyone and moving to elias made him just aware of how little he knew about the world. he walked down the sidewalk and never really knew who he would bump into. and when the woman before him pulled down her glasses and flashed a gift card in his face he was taken a bit aback.

god... rich people. he thought to himself.

“what’s in it for me? a subway gift card?” he asked, raising a brow at the card. “it might take a little more than that depending on what it is, lady.”
