Shoot #24: The Family Business
This was my first time working with a family. I was asked by my aunt if I would take photos for her Christmas card and I was happy to take the opportunity. This was probably the easiest photo shot I have done because they were naturals in front of the camera.
I'm going to try to stay productive this year and do a lot more shoots and maybe finally get paid for something I love doing
Shoot #23: Emily and Marjorie
During summer Emily came to me with a chance to shoot her and a friend of hers and I was glad to do so. We went to a favorite local park of mine and spent the last hours of sunlight taking photos. I was really glad to meet Marj and will definitely be shooting with her again sometime.
I have been on somewhat of a break from photography since I am in school and have been looking for a job but I really want to get a shoot done, I have some ideas that are really wanting to get done.
Scenes from Lubbock
A week ago I went on a trip to Texas to see my Aunt, Uncle, and two cousins who I hadn't seen in about 6 years. The trip went great and I loved finally spending time with my Aunt and Uncle (Mike and Leah). They were always like a second family to me and when they lived in California I would visit them often as a kind of get away from my parents and home life. I got to see the history of the town my Uncle grew up in and watch some movies I wouldn't have on my own like The Human Centipede (which was awful). I got lucky enough to see what it's like when it storms in Texas and I was amazed at how quickly the wind and rain came and how quickly they left.
Also the sky in Texas looks fucking huge
I'll be posting more from this trip soon as well as a shoot I did with Emily and her friend Marj
Shoot #22: Flowers of Spring
I've been wanting to do a spring themed shoot for a while and I finally got the opportunity to do so. I met Christina in the same photo class I met Jackie and Emily in, and when I saw her I knew I had to get a shoot with her. We discussed it and she was all for it, so we met one day at the park and had a lot of fun taking these shots. She wants to be a photographer her self so it was interesting teaching my techniques as well as taking photos at the same time. The day also included another really fun shoot that I will only mention this once since I can't post the photos from it.
I'm taking a trip to Texas in the beginning of August and can't wait to post photos I take on my trails there. Keep an eye out for those soon
Photo shoot #21: Returning to shooting.
This Spring I decided to take a beginners photography class for fun. I met these pretty girls while I was there. I asked Emily and Jackie (Emily's photos are on top and Jackie's are on bottom) if they'd do a shoot with me and they graciously agreed. I realized during this shoot that having more than one model made each of them more comfortable with having their photo taken as well as making the shoot a lot more fun in general. I really enjoyed working with them and am sad that I don't have a class with them any more. These were the ones that the models requested to be edited and I will be posting others in the near future
Some photos from a friend's graduation that I took a few months ago. These were the first portrait type shots that I had done in a while. Congratulations again to my friend Damien for going through all he had to in order to get his degree.
I will be updating much more in the near future, I just got done with one shoot and have another to be posting.
I've been on an extended break from taking photos. Mostly because I'm taking the time before my next semester of school to relax and prepare my self for the workload I'm going to have coming up. I asked a friend, Edward, to take some photos of me because I wanted experience in front of the camera so I could empathize with models a bit more. We decided to meet up at our campus and go to a section of it that I hadn't seen before, the agricultural department. It was fun to pose and I learned quite a bit from the experience. I highly suggest you check out the rest of Ed's work, you can find his face book page here.
You can expect more photos from me in a few weeks. I have a solo project I want to do that I'll unveil later this month
Hello Followers, I've set up a facebook fan page for my photography and would appreciate you following/liking the page to be sure you get any and all updates from me.

Thank you!
Shoot # 19
This is Roman. He is from the Ukraine, here on business and wanted to try his hand at modeling. I was happy to help him out and to learn more things about taking photos of male models. I thought it was funny that we met at a park in LA and he was the only non-mexican there. It's taken me quite a while to post these on here, I've been rather lazy as of late but recently got a fire lit under me and realized that I have to get back on the wagon so to speak. Expect another set of photos from me in the coming weeks
Currently on a break from all photography related things until after new years.
I do have a set to post which I will do later today.
Happy holidays everyone, I hope they turn out to be as great as you'd like them to be
Bathed in the Light
So a few nights ago I got bored and decided to take some photos of my self with my camera. I always take photos of other people so I thought I'd try something different. I wanted to try the style of someone else I've seen so I focused on just my eyes. This is what came of that, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out considering I lit this with a lamp with no shade and my roof light.
My next shoot is scheduled for November 12th and I'll probably have two shoots that week so I'm going to have more content soon
Shoot #18
I had an assignment for my fashion photography class to do an outdoor shoot using a reflector to manipulate the sunlight. I enlisted the help of one of my best friends and someone who had modeled for me before, Linh, to get this done. We shot at some hills near my campus and I learned a lot about how to use a reflector to get some interesting lighting set ups outside. I learned a lot about how to deal with things like wind during a shoot and later in editing learned what I should be looking for when shooting for fashion purposes. Finishing and posting this shoot means I'm all caught up with editing. I've been having trouble finding models lately, I haven't really been putting the effort in to be honest. I don't do well with people, meeting them and asking them to do favors like this for me. It's something I need to work on if I want to take this photography thing further
Shoot # 17 Studio Shoot #5
This was my second shoot with Ed. He wanted me to do some shots with him in the Paul Bearer costume he put together. This is my most experimental shoot. We went from 3 lights, to just 1 light, and I switched out flash gels a lot. I wish I had documented all the set ups I tried better so I can get a better idea for lighting. That's something I really want to be doing now, I want to be trying things out and learning from them. I've been trying to get a model to help me out with that but have encountered trouble there. I really need to work on my initiative when it comes to getting models and talking to people in general.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun editing these and I tried to go for a ghostly/old look with my edits. With Halloween being close this is the perfect shoot to post up now. I have one other shoot I need to edit which I really want to get done by the end of this week so I'll be posting that soon.
Shoot #16 Studio Shoot #4
This was my favorite shoot so far. I met Clarice through Facebook, something I haven't used before to get models, and I saw that she looked gorgeous in her photos and asked her if she modeled for me. She was hip to the idea and we met up one Thursday Night to shoot some photos.
For this shoot I wanted to go for a summer theme. I bought some big lollipops to make things more joyful and bright and Clarice brought some summer clothes she borrowed since she's the female Johnny Cash and loves to wear dark colors mostly. She worked her bright clothes very well and we had a great time while shooting these shots. I learned a lot during this shoot about posing with fashion in mind and learned more about framing when I went to edit things.
Some interesting things I learned about Clarice, she stands at 4'9" (If I remember right) and is just as curvacious as any girl taller than her. It makes me very happy to see more petite girls posing for photos. So much of modeling and fashion is built around the idea that a girl has to be taller than 5'6" to model and I think that's bullshit. Anyway, I was also glad to find out Clarice is a Psychology major (like I once was) and that she's a fucking firecracker. I'm very grateful that I got to work with her and capture her beauty. I'm looking forward to working with her again in the future and hope that she can show some girls who are around her height that anyone can model for photos and look beautiful
Shoot #15 Studio Shoot #3
This was my second shoot with Jonathan and my second shoot in the studio this semester. I basically contacted back everyone who I had worked with before to see who would be interested in doing a studio shoot and Jonathan was eager to help me out with some shots. I wanted to go for the juxtaposition of a tough looking guy with some pretty looking flowers. The theme I had in mind was "Tough guys aren't tough all the time". I think I captured it pretty well. I really like the first shot because of the contrast
I've been rather lazy with putting up photos, I apologize for that. I'm currently editing a shoot I did two weeks ago and will be posting that shortly.
Shoot #14
This is my second studio shoot and my first shoot for my fashion photography class. A classmate and friend of mine (Terrence) kindly posed for me and I tried to execute an idea I've had for a while "Photographs of a photographer". The camera you see was once my father's and it's older than both Terrence and I. It was a fun shoot, I learned a lot about studio lighting in this one, also I assisted Terrence that day and I learned a lot from watching how he works with his models. I'm doing another studio shoot tomorrow and am looking forward to it. Studio photography is something I plan on doing a lot of
