A Reason, A Season, A Lifetime?
There was this chain email letter that went around in the early 2000’s. Back when email was bigger than text messaging and people still had Hotmail accounts. This one particular email was about how friends were in your life for either a reason, a season, or a lifetime. I was a middle schooler and I thought I had my life figured out. This one chain email was what I was still thinking about when I got home from school that night. I jotted down a list of my friends and wrote beside their names which type I thought they were. It looked a little something like this when I was done;
P- Lifetime
A- Lifetime
S- Season
T- Season
B- Reason
C- Reason
G- Reason
This chain email still pops in my head from time to time. I had no idea what my future held, but I was so CERTAIN that some of these people were the “real deal.” About a year or two after I made this list, one of my “lifetime” friends accused me of being bipolar after I divulged to her about my grandmother’s condition “it must be hereditary,” she said to me. I never spoke to her in person again. Most of the rest of these friends sided with her and I was bullied for the remainder of my middle school years, to the point where my parents moved me an hour and a half away. Another one of these “lifetime” friends that I had known longer and prior to the rest recently decided to follow suit. My adult years hit and I have done nothing, but struggle and she decided to finally let go, not caring if I drown, but keeping me on social media so that she could see if I made it or not.
I have only had a handful of people enter my life that I would consider “friends” since these middle school days, but I have come to accept the fact that I cannot choose who my “lifetime” friends are going to be. Only time can truly reveal this. Instead, I have decided to forget this chain email I read almost 13 years ago and finally mark it as “spam.”

John Stamos came to me a while back with a amazing idea to propose to his girlfriend, Caitlin McHugh at Disneyland.
Along with my good friend and editor Tim Mertens we cut together the most romantic moments in Disney Animation history and after it played I added a small custom animated scene with Sebastian telling John to “go on and ASK the girl!”
John then asked her and she said yes! I’m so happy for the two of them! It was a fairy tale proposal! I did the little drawing up top for them to celebrate their moment!
