The larger chick is two days old. The smaller one hatched early this morning. These are Princess and Boingo's newest hatchlings. As you can see, mom and dad are feeding them well. I'd love to teach one of my budgies to do this but aren't coins very dirty? And wouldn't handling them by beak put them at risk of bacterial infection? I'm guessing that a captured wild bird might have a stronger immune system than a domestic bird that has been bred for color.

I buy #VolkmanSeed because it's regarded as one of the best. Because I have so many #budgies (17, at current count), I buy #birdseed in #bulk to #save #money. But there is an awful lot of #waste in every serving. Excluding the empty hulls, whatever this dark seed and other stuff is, none of my budgies like it — NONE — AT ALL! And the dried #corn is too hard and big for a #budgie to eat. (I buy my budgies fresh corn on the cob and they love it.) So, why is this #junk included in a top-rated #seed manufacturer's #parakeet #mix? This is Boingo & Princess' little (current) family. The four chicks from the last group are going on 6 months old and are kept in another, large cage with three adults (Spooky, Zuzu and Bluie). Princess stepped out of the box momentarily and Godzilla (compared to its siblings) is calling for mom to return with takeout. (Although edible, the oatmeal is bedding.)
