My own self-indulgent redesign of Charlie because they MASSACRED my girl,, I love her dearly they could never make me hate her idgaf (more stuffs under da cut)
psssttt,, um. I made a BUNCH of stamps of charlie (like the gifs at the top but they're. Static. do NOT start with me, man), and if I remember to, I'll reblog this with all the stamps I made, okay that's it bye.
I spedran some redesigns of hazbin hotel characters for portfolio/self-practice purposes, thought I might share em here before I forget heheh
For those new to me, I enjoy (and also originally started this tumblr) doing character redesigns for fun. I love the original designs but I love practicing for my enjoyment, giving designs my own twist and sharing them with others :)
Anyway, here's some Design notes below for those who like to read:
Charlie:
Goat traits more obvious :) (i'm definitely not the first to do this but i genuinely find it endearing to see people draw Charlie as more goat-like)
If you take a look at Charlie and Lucifer's design, they share a similar trait in their outfits of having crown shapes (for Lucifer it's on his coat sleeves, while for Charlie's it's on her pants sleeves.)
Charlie also inherited her dad's nose markings (except it's in a different color)
Charlie's hair ties also have some crown shapes I added 👉👈
Vaggi:
Vaggi's design lore in this iteration deliberately hides her ears so the rest of the crew aren't aware she's an angel. (I made it a point to have angels to share the same ear type)
Vaggi's more muscular (I love that for her) + has more faded scars here due to her training as a soldier of Heaven
Alastor:
fun fact I actually based his color palette off of the shot where he got mistaken by a deer and got shot, I wondered to myself how fun would it have been if his color palette was based off of his last moments lolol
you could also interpret his color palette to be a reference to how Television in his time didn't come with color yet
I drew his ears to the side of his head where his human ears would've been instead of on top of his head + gave him bigger antlers
I added leaf/branch motifs to his suit + radio staff as a callback to how his life ended (still really proud of myself for doing that LOLLL)
Lucifer:
If you squint at his face, you'll see that he has scale markings along his nose as a callback to him being a 'serpent'
I saw this elsewhere where someone made a headcanon that Lucifer gained his reptilian traits after his fall. Allegedly, After Lucifer fell, he was healed by Satan, the aftermath caused his form to gain more demonic-like features resulting in his serpent traits + tail + horns (i really like this headcanon and wanna believe it applies here to my redesign of Lu)
Added more detailing to his suit. The snakes around his forearms are a callback to the valentines day merch design. (one of my fav outfits for Luci)
Gave him a goatee to make him more mature/dad-looking(?) (I'm sorry Lu, you'll always be baby boy to me)
Made his boots thigh-high (let him serve in his missing-my-wife era damn it)
Sir Pentious:
Similar to Lucifer, he has scale patterns that run along his nose
I removed his hat and made his suit more 'scientist'-like
His inner-shirt is also a callback to how he dressed when he was human
I also removed the eyes from his design, in my headcanon i think they appear when he gets intensely emotional
I didn't have to but It only felt right to draw him with his eggbois 😭
Cherri Bomb:
Gave her a messy haircut that's half-dyed (i like to headcanon she cuts and dyes her own hair) that gets caught on fire from time to time
Gave the holes in her leggings color, for some reason thought it'd look interesting heh
Also gave her a leather-style jacket, i thought it would suit her lol
Husk:
just my take but I get this feeling that Husk's sinner form is more meant to be a griffin then a cat with wings, but the sinners probably just like to make fun of him by mischaracterizing him as a cat HAHA
Though how being a griffin relates to how his life ended is a mystery to me.. if you have any idea feel free to comment for me to know 🤔
Anyway, I gave Husk a bit more of a 'lion's mane' design, so he has more fur compared to his original design. You can see I tried really hard to get him to resemble a lion lolol
I did not change too much about Husk's design besides trying to include the 4 suits into his wings as best I can.
I'm also really sorry but I had to get rid of the hat 😭 I can't imagine husk being the type to wear his hat all the time for some reason
Angel Dust:
This again has probably been done before but I made Angel have more spider-like features, especially for his face. But I will say for my version I tried to connect it with his hair so it looks like it could be a part of his hair and not an actual set of fangs??
Fun fact about his "tail fluff", I actually intended it to be a part of the coat so it's detachable. In actuality, Angel in this iteration doesn't have a tail either.
Other then that I think I made Angel here dress more like a performer ?
Baxter:
Baxter didn't really have all that much change besides some color tweaks
I will say I did enjoy drawing the shape of his legs while working on his design
Nifty:
Roach inspired!! of course it had to be done
I also gave her more accessories (the headband) to make her more obvious as a maid.
If you squint really closely I actually based her overall body shape off of roaches
Mimzy:
Her design didn't change all that much HAHA, I mainly just added more details and jewelry
Though in actual lore wise, I have this sneaking suspiciously she would either have to steal those jewels back or sell em off frequently to escape her loans-
One last general fun fact: I tried to use the same shade of red across most of the hazbin casts design, or at the very least made them all "red" leaning if possible.
