And always more raspberries to pick.

When I have no specific plans to use them immediately I find it’s best to freeze them loose in a tray.

Then afterwards put them in a container for storage in the freezer.

Peas have started to get away from me. A few got over ripe and a bit starchy but not bad and still loads more pods to plump up.

Not bad for a half hour of picking and shelling. Just need a quick blanch and then into the freezer.

Fucking hell. Just got a notice that my electricity bill is increasing 17% per kilowatt hr in 2027. Again another 4% in 2028 and another 9% in 2029. Of course to pay for “infrastructure improvements”.

I wonder what could possibly require a sudden need for hundreds of millions of dollars in sudden power infrastructure investments. Maybe it’s the data centers that are being built in areas that can’t accommodate the electricity needed. And quite frankly we don’t have the power production to supply them even if the transmission capacity were there. We would have needed to start building additional power plants a decade ago to have enough power for what they’re demanding.

Is it not enough that these things are getting built with massive subsidies and huge government contracts (tax money) but we all need to tighten our belts too? Because god forbid some of the richest most powerful corporations in human history actually fund their own projects.

Maybe I shouldn’t bitch too much because a lot of people have it way worse than me. At least there isn’t a data center going up in my immediate backyard. And I know people in other regions are seeing rate hikes way higher than me. But still this shit pisses me off.

I’m genuinely not anti ai across the board. It has some very useful and SPECIFIC uses. But this mad dash to create some unquestionable god machine is going to destroy a lot of people’s financial lives when the bubble bursts.

Most people I know are barely hanging on as it is in this economy and there is no sign of things getting better. Whenever things look they might just be calming down a certain orange fascist manages to start up another war, either by proxy or directly. It’s fucked up that I miss his trade wars which only cost everyone a fuck ton of money, at least he wasn’t sending the military to murder brown children half the world away.

Rant over. Wandered a long way on this one. I don’t like posting about politics because tumblr is not that serious for me but here we are.

My first asparagus harvest ever. Can’t wait for the root systems to get more established. Right now it’s their first growth of their second year. If the stories are true I should have more than I can handle in another year or two.

Sitting down to watch hockey smut and thought a ridiculous caesar make the experience more immersive. So good. Like if a Bloody Mary walked around with her pussy out no fucks given.

So it’s been years since I reached into the very back of the junk drawer. True to name there is much junk but also a few delightful surprises.

Some unexpected highlights include a quick guide for tying knots, a hand sewn face mask, a butterfly knife(?), fresh blades for box cutters and a name tag from a dear friend now long gone.

And now I’m ugly crying.

Anyway, I was trying to do laundry, then started cleaning the fridge which led to making rice and somehow it seemed that digging in the junk drawer was a smart way to pass the time while rice cooked. This is why it in fact takes hours to fold laundry and not actually 10 minutes. Then fuckkng tumblr tax takes several more minutes.

Also bonus elephant garlic which was planted super late because the store was practically giving it away. Not looking bad considering it didn’t go in the ground until December.

Chives are coming up wild. Need to divide them up again.
