@burningxiceberg-blog
The music was playing, the girls were dancing, the alcohol was served in spades and various substances were being passed freely around. Sitting there amidst a posse of people, various friends from old schools, girls who wanted to sleep with him, others who had slept with him and, somewhat impressively to him, was still interested. Some just wanted to bask in the spotlight he drew wherever he went. Paparazzi whores, groupies, out for their ten minutes of fame. Art didn’t much mind, they were free to throw themselves at him, laugh at his tame jokes, offer to rub his shoulders or fetch him drinks or even better, give him a BJ. If he played the ‘heavy week at the office’ card, they would happily put their pretty lips wherever he told them to in order to give him some ‘well deserved’ stress release. Some girls were just too easy. There was no challenge, no thrill, no resistance. It was all very tedious. And right now, Art was bored out of his mind. Deciding he was over it, the whole thing, he shoved the girl currently on his lap off, not even hearing her grunt as she fell into someone else and yelled out. No his mind was already on the smoke he was going to have on his way home, wether or not to call his driver Carrick to come pick him up or just walk the five blocks to his penthouse apartment. He reached the door, pushing it open with force, stepping into the cold air. He had only taken a few steps when a voice called out from behind. Annoyance flashed as the male slowly turned on his heels. “Yes? What is it?” he demanded, somewhat impatiently.
The meeting had run far longer than Roxy had desired, with the whole rigmarole of ‘another round’ making her see red at times. But her thinly-held patience had paid out and the deal was secure meaning she could text Devlin when she got home and possibly take the whole week off....with pay.
Her vexed features could hardly manage the polite send-off and once the party had disappeared from her view, she allowed herself to enjoy one good glass of drink before heading to her empty apartment. It would feel strange to not have Memphis mollycoddle her as soon as she entered but knowing how late it could get, she had left her husky at Nik’s place. No doubt he’d call her bright and early with entertaining tales of Memphis-Hades fight, accusing her dog of bullying his pug. That thought made her grin and with a long drag she finished her drink and gathered her bag, happy at the thought of relaxing the week away.
As Roxy neared the exit, she noticed a man moving at a speed to leave. As he pushed the door, his wallet fell off and unaware he left the place. Standing at the door, she picked it up and opened it, studying it’s contents for a moment before closing and darting after the stranger. It was rare for her to play the good Samaritan but Roxanne did have her moments. No sooner had the words ‘excuse me’ left her lips, she was confronted with a very annoyed male. Not really caring for the tone of his voice, she flipped the wallet in the air and securely caught in her hands “Thought you might need this but if not...” she shrugged lightly “there are many places where the charity would be rather welcome”
@acertainshadeofpoison
She was hot. Dark hair and bright eyes, all flashing seductive glances at him. He would have approached if she wasn’t holding a large husky, that looked like it would have died a thousand deaths for it’s mistress. Though, he was slightly undeterred. What was the point of living if you weren’t going to push yourself? So he stepped forward, once and twice. Still a significant amount of distance, he watched his company spin the torch in her hand.
“Combat skills?” He questioned, a slightly surprised look on his face. He hadn’t expected that, she was a skinny thing, not tall either. Though, he’d let her demonstrate such things on him. Maybe he’d get lucky. She raised her eyebrows at him, her insinuation that he was out in a dark alley for some rendezvous. He was, just probably not the kind she expected. “Scandalous?” He hand left his pocket, bag of coke in his palm he threw it up in the air and caught it before pocketing it again. A glimpse at what he had in store for the rest of his night. “I’d say more of a necessary rendezvous.” He didn’t care about much in the world, and he didn’t know who this woman was, she could have been an undercover cop, and he still wouldn’t have given a shit. Let her arrest him, at least it would make for a moderately exciting evening.
She didn’t know what response she had expected but the sight of that indulgence wasn’t something that had been on top of her mind. Though seeing it now, she hardly felt surprised. “You shouldn’t go flashing that around now. I doubt a hefty fine or a dingy cell is how you’d like the night to end.” Rox began with a chuckle. She was no stranger to the various vices of men and though her profession often dictated forming judgements, she hardly engaged in it outside of her work. Unless he served to be a threat to her person, she didn’t feel the need to school him on anything. Except perhaps her combat skills. Just for a few laughs.
Her hand leaving Memphis’ leash, Roxanne approached him with a smirk “So you are a dealer ? How much do you get for that packet?” Standing right in front of him she made her move to throw her arms around his neck and then swiftly pushed him against the wall, trapping him with her shoulder and legs. Her torch-light was switched off , the overhead street lamp serving as the only source of illumination. As Memphis began sniffing his legs, Rox grinned at him “As you see, I’m hardly in danger. Though Can’t say the same about you right now. Afterall being trapped by a gorgeous skilled fighter can be more lethal than the substance you are carrying around you know”
@acertainshadeofpoison
He knew it was shady, lingering in a alleyway, and he was an incredibly shady person. Physical and mental torture and interrogation of the unwilling to speak was his not only his forte but his passion. So after scoring some coke from one of his favorite dealers, he was cutting through a dark alley to head back to where he had parked his vehicle a block over. Few noises sounded through the almost pitch black area, though he remained undeterred from the unknown monsters lingering in the dark. As far as he was concerned, they should have been more scared of him. Who knew what monsters lurked in the hearts of men, after all?
Pulling his lit cigarette from his lips, he heard a rather vicious bark of a dog, and then a bright light was shined in his direction. A pretty brunette with a husky on a leash came to view, and he noticed that she wasn’t scared of his presence, or rather his loitering in an alley late at night. Though, he guessed, she was in the same position as he was. “Says the girl walking in a dark alley all by herself.”
Unlike what most believed about the lead trainer of the Strix, it wasn’t that Roxanne was always fearless. That component was very much present in every functioning part of her psyche, threatening to reveal the scars of the past at the most unwelcome moment. But over the years, the lawyer had learnt to school her mind and utilise that emotion in a way that empowers her towards her goal rather than serving as black hole towards things and memories she couldn’t change. It was perhaps why, while her younger self would have thought twice about venturing towards the alley or engaging in a conversation with strangers in semi-darkness, her older, more matured self was unfazed enough to grin at his comment.
“Hardly dark when I have this” she stated spinning the torchlight once like a fidget spinner, the light moving in chaotic directions before landing towards him again “And hardly by-myself in the company of a husky or my own combat skills. Lethal combo I tell you. If you play your cards right- or wrong as you see it, you might even be lucky to get an exhibition” With a mischievous smirk, Roxy raised her eyebrows at him “ What’s your excuse? A scandalous rendezvous?”
It seemed almost like an eternity before Roxanne felt herself breathing the fresh air outside-or whatever little freshness was left in the midst of London pollutants. Unlike her usual ritual of heading straight home and crashing, she decided to meander around for a bit. Though late, the lawyer was unfazed as she ambled along the sidewalk, Memphis by her side. It seemed all quite on the gang scene and instead of relaxing, it only served to keep her on an edge. Any radio silence could never be good and unless there was some news about the Royals, they couldn’t really afford to put their guard down. Lost in thought, she had been approaching a semi-lit alleyway when Memphis started barking alerting her to someone’s presence. Grabbing her pocket flashlight, she directed it only to find a sort of harmless guy with a cigarette in his hand “A little light won’t hurt you know” Rox remarked as Memphis went closer to sniff at him

Under pressure # Roxy&Luna
For once, Luna could hardly contain a smile. Sitting there in the car next to Roxy, she was exhilarated as hell. Not only had she been picked to go on a recon mission with the head trainer, but they had been sent without back up. Meaning that her boss fully trusted her capabilities, deemed that she was fit for this, that she could handle herself and be nothing but an asset to Roxy. After weeks on end feeling excluded and hesitant about her place within the Strix, Luna finally felt seen. Validation like this could not be placed a price upon. Nothing was better than this. Well.. okay a select few things were, but as of right now her mind was solely focused on their purpose here. On their goal of finding some decent intel. Glancing around them for the fourth time, there wasn’t much to see. The warehouse was void of activity, it had been ever since the van they’d been trailing had driven inside, doors being shut the second the car glided trough. “Maybe we ought to take a closer look?” she suggested to her superior, fixing her eyes on the brunette, eyebrows rising in sync with the question at hand.
@burningxiceberg
Freedom..that was what it was. After two weeks of being in bed and another of not being able to walk without experiencing pain, Roxy almost felt it surreal to look down at her feet and not see the bandage that had become her normalcy for a while. She could drive, walk and even run (Having secretly trained for the past couple of days to keep in shape) and she couldn’t be more eager to go out and do something. Her wish had been fulfilled when Devlin had called her and Luna in and commissioned them to gather intel. Roxanne was particularly happy at being placed with Luna as they got along well and the girl always had good judgements and quick assessing skills for any situation. Having followed the vans, they had been parked some distance away and were taking turns watching the place through their binoculars. Shooting a quick text to Devlin about their exact location, something that the trainer had always done. That and texting him back an hour or so later to let him know it was going good, Rox placed the device in her pocket. It was a sort of code that if Devlin didn’t receive a text back from her, he would often send back-ups to check up on them. Though it rarely happened, Roxy wasn’t one for taking major risks. Turning towards Luna at her question, she looked at her watch. “I think we should. No point in sitting here. Doesn’t seem likely that anyone is going to get in or come out anytime soon either. But we need to exercise caution. It’s very likely that we could be easily outnumbered.”

@juliettexderby
Juliette was known to not care much for walks, especially not ever since having returned to rainy London, knowing that any prolonged outdoor endeavour would merely result in a ruined pair of Louboutins. Which very much would make for a grumpy Juliette Derby. Or that’s what people believed. The truth was, however, that whenever the sun peeked through fluffy clouds even someone like her would decide to forgo a car ride. Something she assumed her driver was very appreciative of.
She missed strolling through the streets of Paris where every day felt like a whole new adventure ––a mystery that London didn’t hold to her–– recalling how she and her then boyfriend would spend the entire day outside, renting bicycles, making their way to the more rural areas … All this felt like it was an eternity ago and to be reminded that it actually was, to think that her life had basically been on hold ever since … It made Juliette feel as if she suddenly couldn’t breathe anymore.
She was pulled out of her thoughts the second she was almost run over by a dog. The woman blinked in confusion, looking at the dog a little longer before her features eventually softened. Children and animals, her more or less known weak spots. “Well, hi there! Who do you belong to?” Juliette wondered before looking around in hopes to find someone who appeared like they were missing a huge puppy. The husky’s excitement reminded the blonde very much of that of Hades and she didn’t even notice the dirt that was now tainting her short fair dress as well as parts of her thighs. That was until a voice made her aware of it. Juliette looked up, having crouched down in front of the dog before, spotting the familiar face of Roxanne. “I took you more as a cat person.” she remarked, not bothering to respond to her previous comments.
The very words greeting her ears made her chuckle hardly denying the truth in them. “I used to think that too trust me, even contemplated getting one but then life happened” Roxy stated with a grin “My friend works for a shelter and when handling the legal stuff I came across this diva. It wasn’t love at first sight, atleast not for her. She was way different than she is now.” Recounting the tale of how she finally befriended her husky was something that never failed to make Roxanne smile. On her list of accomplishments it probably ranked the highest, to know that coming from those dark times when both would be on the either side of the house, when Memphis would bite at any attempts to touch her, to the now friendly dog was a huge achievement. Rox herself had learnt a lot in the process too and she was absolutely grateful to have stumbled upon her furry companion “You should be careful around her though. She can stealthily steal your loyalties from Hades you know” Roxy couldn’t help teasing aware of the soft spot Julie had for Nik’s favourite dog. That was another whole story in itself of just how a man like him had suddenly gone from living the solo life to playing ‘daddy’ to six dogs. It amused her till date at the greeting he usually receives on getting back to his apartment “I am surprised to see you out and about. But the weather is pleasant for once so there’s that. How have you been? It seems like I haven’t see anyone in ages running between jobs” These were the times when Rox suddenly realised just how rapidly the days where progressing and just how much she’d have to catch up. It almost felt like a routine from working at the TM in the morning and then training with the new members in the evenings and interspersed with few other duties there were days when the lawyer had to do a double take at the date. “If you aren’t busy I wouldn’t mind some company” she offered ruffling her husky’s head as Memphis tired to lick her hands “I swear I need a break from all the boring stiff people back at the office”
@newtxgarvey
Victory. The man now began to slowly back up and eventually leave with a quick pace, no longer interested in a conversation with the two of them, wonder why? The elbow to the ribs was a blow that caused him to shift slightly, but it was entirely worth it for the way he got under her skin. Pulling his arm away from her shoulders once the man was out of sight, Newt wasn’t going to risk it any further, the proximity was a dangerous game he would only dabble in for so long. “Oh but I love to play this game” he said with a grin, crouching down to play with Memphis, who apparently was more excited to see him than Roxy was. “Oh darling, my sensitive heart only has all the room in the world for you babe. Tell you what, we’ll go on a date to the dentist, get my old chompers cleaned up then you won’t be able to resist me” he chuckled, standing up now but still keeping a hand petting Memphis. “I know how you like me a little roughed up, so I decided to work a little over time last night, just for you sweet pea.” he teased with a wink, although he was sure it was no secret he’d really just taken on a few extra fights than he really needed too, and worn himself out by the last one, causing a few more injuries than he really needed to get. “Tell you what, for fucking up your lovely morning with Mr. Handsome, i’ll buy you breakfast. Mostly because i’m fucking starving but yeah. Offer is on the table”
While normalcy for her was to have people back away at the sight of her iciness or be plain confused and unable to fathom just how to react, the fact that this cocksure male in front of her hardly flinched at anything she said or did had Rox push her limits out of sheer curiosity at his persona and motives. He surprised her by his nonchalance and unaffected persona and though there was a part of her that was proud of him for that, there was also a part that was super miffed too. “Oh really? Room just for me? I’d certainly like to see proof of that. Tell you what, you can be my assistant for a week and then we’ll verify the truth of that statement” She retorted rolling her eyes “And I doubt even old Dr Davis might be able to fix your chompers. They are gone far beyond rectifications” Grabbing Memphis’ leash and clipping it to her collar Roxanne almost chuckled at the variety of terms he had for her. Perhaps the only person who had called her darling, babe and sweet pea all in the span of a minute and lived to tell the tale. “I can’t believe people actually fall for that” she nevertheless couldn’t resist adding “Sweet pea? Really?! How unoriginal and boring.” At the mention of her handsome companion though, she gave him a light glare “As sad as it is to not have that gorgeous face in front of me for breakfast, only a fool would refuse food. Especially when it’s being paid by someone else, in this case my very own barmy marshmallow” Pinching his cheeks, she began walking along the path with Memphis “So where are we going and dare you say a cheap diner”
@seraphinadavis
Sera scratched the dog behind the ear as Roxanne clipped the leash back on. “Been alright,” she shrugged. She was doing alright considering everything going on. Their lives weren’t really quiet, after all. You got used to a certain level of crazy. “What about you?” The dog seemed very happy to have attention, scooting closer to Sera for more petting. “And what’s your name?” she cooed at the dog. “Aren’t you a good dog?”
“Huh?” she said, looking back up. “Oh, uh, sure. I used to do it a lot more, don’t really get time these days. It’s relaxing though.” She picked up the book, handing it to Roxanne. It was always a little nerve wracking to hand her sketch book over to people, like she was handing over a little of her.
Nodding at her response, Roxanne looked around at the calmness in the park, something that would forever be absent in their lives. It wasn’t a decision she regretted making but at times she couldn’t help but ponder over the normalcy that most people took for granted. “I’ve been good too thanks” she found herself responding with a smile though their version of ‘good’ most certainly differed from the socially accepted one. “And that’s Memphis who is absolutely the opposite of good” Grinning at her husky as she licked Sera’s hand, Roxy took the book from her hand and opened it, her eyes widening slightly at the beauty of the sketches “I can’t believe you have been hiding this talent all along! These are absolutely marvellous. When did you start sketching? You should do something with it, build it as a side-career of sorts you know” she offered genuinely impressed.

@philippexlinwood
How easily that the stranger could have dropped the conversation and be on her way, thanks to his lousy response. But it seemed as if she did not want to give up that easy, and still made an effort to continue on. Surely, an effort such as that could not have gone on ignored. “I would very much like to have one.” Philippe replied, before taking another drag of his cigarette. “In the future, perhaps. Work has gotten me swamped. Far too much to care for a wee one.” They sounded like excuses, yes, but it was the truth. A pet could fill the hole of loneliness within him, aside from alcohol and sex, that is. “Maybe a cat?” He said rather hesitantly, as he smiled at the little pup playing still. In truth, the man was very much pleased that the conversation was going normally, until it didn’t. “Oh, well, since you asked…” A little chuckle elicited his lips, as he took another drag. “Yes, I have been. Quite frequently, actually.” He breathed smoke out, not wanting to give it to her so easy. “Take a gander.”
“You know..that was exactly what I used to say” Roxy began with a chuckle “I never really thought about pets or anything until I helped my friend who ran a shelter and saw this girl. Wasn’t easy at all! She has bitten me more than she’ll probably bite anyone else in her lifetime. But it was totally well worth all injuries” An affectionate confession as Roxanne’s eyes rested on Memphis who was almost resting her face against her leg like a cat. That was just the thing. The normally stoic lawyer had a sweet spot for her husky and any topic or conversation steering in that direction would always make her excited, chatty and happy. “Cats are actually great pets too” she continued “ but whatever your choice, I do hope you get to have one. They actually change a lot in you” A heavy observation stated with a nonchalant smile as they moved on to her inquiry. Her curious eyes studied him for a moment, pondering across the memories stored to find a match and she did indeed stumble upon a hazy recollection “Perhaps it was the boy toy auction. Everybody who was somebody really showed up there. And what a day it was”
Of Dogs and Disasters II Roxy & Adrian
@adrian-jung
He saw her fall, and was going to pass by her because it didn’t look too nasty, but when she looked perturbed and then asked the nearest person - him - to grab her purse, he felt a little bad. “I guess you landed on your foot just right to hurt it, huh?” Adrian obediently picked up her purse and crouched down beside her, offering the purse along with a suggestion. “I can take a look at it if you want me too. Er, I’m a doctor. But I get it, random stranger on the street, what’re the odds of me telling the truth and actually being a doctor you’re probably thinking. I’ll stick around until you call a friend for help at least, make sure your dogs don’t run off and nobody tries to mug the person with an injured foot.”
Any slight movement felt like there was a war going down there and the pain made it impossible for her to even think of touching her foot, let alone getting up and trying to salvage the situation. Thankfully the stranger complied to her plea and got her bag. Roxy had just opened it when his suggestion made her look up in surprise. While usually exercising caution, for like he put it, there was no guarantee he was indeed being truthful. Con men were the best actors afterall if her experience in law was anything to go by but the sharp pain in her foot made her leap up to make any exception if it could promise even a slight bit of relief “What are the odds of a doctor finding me. But be my guest! Anything to stop my foot feeling like it’s being burnt open” She stated her voice evident of the strain she was currently under. Leaving him to his inspection, her angry worried eyes turned to look at the culprits who were currently panting and returning back with wet excited faces. As they neared, she rolled her eyes sending a text to Nik to pick her up. He owed her a lot after the stunt Zeus and Roscoe had pulled on her today. Settling that, Roxanne’s attention returned to the doctor studying him curiously “Does this often happen to you? You set out to enjoy the day and inevitably end up doctoring someone? As Samaritan as it makes you, it must get tiresome after a while ”
