She listened while he spoke but didn't necessarily like most of the words that came out. She was starting to wonder why she even came to him with this. She knew why, but still. Maybe she should have kept her mouth shut. It was different here than in Burnside or even Gotham. She'd met people that let her down here more than anyone back home. But she still wanted to fight. She would always fight.
âYou expect me to, what, be content with just writing my thesis and going to class every day knowing there are bad people out there that I could be doing something about? Go to parties? Spend my time, what, getting wasted instead of actually helping?! You think that would be me finding happiness? My happiness has always been in being Batgirl. I had my break from that life already, against my will.â
âI'm Twenty-One. I'm all grown up now, Bruce. And I'm going to spend the rest of my long life left doing what I do best. And that's helping where I can. And I will save everyone that I can. And I'd blame me for quitting. You can't imagine the itch you get when you can't do anything, when you can't save anyone, when you can't even try. When you're useless. Stuck. Stuck in a chair you can't get out of. Watching everything happen while you're just there doing nothing. So, no. I won't ever be stopping. Not again.â She paused. âI don't...I don't know why I even came to you...I'm sorry...â The redhead turned from him, readying to run off.
