there is no such thing as a larger universal "queer community" and i think many fail to realize that. we might unite for similar causes and everything, but in the end it all comes down smaller friend groups and communities on the local scale with incredible diversity through out all of them. queer communities in brasilia is not going to be the same as those in méxico city, chengdu, portland, launda, etc. etc.

this is another kind of issue "we are all faggots in the eye of the state" has as an inherent problem (beyond the inherent belief that queers who are intersectionally affected by bigotries are causing 'infighting' when they call out others upholding the same bigotries,) as we all know the 'state' it is referring to is the united states. it assumes that the usamerican queer experiences are not only uniform upon identities but also that they are the same across the world.
