i have noticed that a decent amount of detransitioners are former transmedicalists. i wonder if this is because, as transmeds, we were viewing transition as the cure to our "medical condition," whereas people for whom trans is more of an identity are okay with transition simply providing aesthetic changes, and not actually fixing any deep-seated dissatisfaction with their life
Definitely agree. I also think this stems from the fact that people who identify as nonbinary, or have a less medical viewpoint towards transition, are less likely to use words like “detransition” or identify with detransition as a concept.
I know a woman who went on T, identified totally as a man, but wasn’t transmed. Now she sees herself as more of a masculine woman. Her viewpoint about all of it is much more along the lines of a “gender journey” where she’s still queer or nonbinary. I’ve talked with her about my detransition experience and she relates to my experience, but conceptualizes it for herself in a different way.
Whereas for former “transmeds”, we saw transition not as some kind of gender journey of self expression, but as a medical process that was supposed to fix whatever was wrong with us.
And when it didn’t fix us, we realized it was all bullshit all along. We’re still using medicalized terminology to define our experience, which is totally fine, but that’s something they don’t do even when their experience and trajectory of transition and “detransition” was exactly the same.
This woman is not only fully correct, she is Bob Ross quality ASMR. I will listen to this fifty more times, not just for the justness of her words, but for the glory of her voice.

The fact that in both the episode and in the current irl situation, it's a black woman is not lost on some of us...

✨ if consent can’t be coerced or pressured it certainly can’t be fucking purchased ✨
A brain dead pregnant woman in Georgia is being cruelly kept alive as an incubator for her baby, who, if born, most likely won’t make it anyways. To extort a family’s trauma by using her as a petri dish to see what grows and how to specifically cultivate it to grow what they actually want and hope to do to other people in the future is disgusting.
Every man who ever told you to ‘not worry your pretty little head about becoming an incubator’ was lying right to your face.
Adriana Smith, you deserve so much better. Your family, they deserve better too. Adriana, you deserved a choice, and so too do the ones who speak directly for you, who actually have your best interests in mind.
i just saw an agp tim wearing a vi arcane cosplay and i felt my soul get ripped from my asshole
‘You are allowed to talk about female specific issues but only if you use obscure dehumanising medical terms for everything. No of course you don’t have to do the same for male issues what’s your point?’
idk personally i can tell when someones interest in butch lesbians/real dykes/studs is just them trying to be subversive or different or whatever. so like for u maybe this is weird and different but for me its just my dumb regular life and normal sexuality + gender expression. THANKFULLy this has only happened to me 4 or perhaps 5 times
this is a gay community problem in general tho it comes from how a lot of people still just see homosexuality and/or gender nonconformity as inherently subversive and/or risqué. like woah its taboo woah im sticking it to the man..... well no im actually so normal
If your life is horrible and you need a new source of meaning and direction.... Do NOT find religion. Learn to identify plants.
Seems to say something that I’ve never heard of a non-binary IDed male getting breast implants to affirm his gender but women who don’t even ID as men are having whole mastectomies. Male default strikes again.
