hi
hollanov
ok bye.
At this point I do not know what to do with my obsession with the franchise that is HR book and show.
I know one fundamental thing, Hudson Williams is now my most favorite actor/entertainer/unhinged yapper of all time.
I can't get enough of his takes on thing and ofc his looks and fashion too.
I am always all for Asian rep in movies and Western cultural zeitgeist. Shane Hollander is more than just a book character to me.
Shane Hollander is my spirit animal.
I mean it.
The way Rachel wrote about him often feels like she also doesn't really know what to do with him, which is kinda sad really, the first book is fine, it's the second book that kinda tick me off a bit.
But along came this 2001-born Hollywood's menace. His portrayal, his expression, his goddamn eyes is reminding me of Tony Leung if he's born in the age of Youtube skits.
I can't wait to see more of him in the future.

Our boys at the YSL fashion show during PFW ! They look so good and handsome, and I’m so glad to see Robbie included 💜
And if the rumours are true they Hudson is back in Canada, I hope he rests, he deserves a break 💜

Tell me why Hudson and Connor could hang out all fucking day in Venice but when it’s F with C there, there’s ALWAYS PAP PHOTOS. EVERY TIME.
Like…what are we doing?
I have no idea, nonnie! But it makes sense to look at who would benefit from Connor and François getting papped together. I need to preface that I believe they’re actually friends, nothing more. Those recent pap pics also happened during an event, so it’s not like they were trying to have a secret candle light dinner or something. 😅
Frankly, Connor doesn’t need to be linked to François for attention. He is already the hottest new star on the market and if he was papped by himself, it would still get his name in the press. Meanwhile François, not saying that’s the only way for him to get mentioned, but he gets the 100 percent warranty of it, when he’s photographed next to Connor. (Although I’ve seen plenty of pics where François was cut out?)
I also side-eye how those rumours might help Hudson to disappear for a bit. This fandom is huuungry for Hudcon content and all the artificial drama this fandom creates around FA/CS hanging out together, let’s Hudson off the hook for a couple of days. In this case, he can spend some time with his girlfriend before she’s leaving again.
I just realised how Connor and Hudson evenly bear that Heated Rivalry torch (lol) and continue to give the fandom content. Ngl I expect Hudcon to get papped together too at some point (the value of those pics must be crazy!), especially in a city like Paris during PFW when it’s packed with celebrities and paparazzi.
Having said that, it makes my heart so giddy seeing that Hudson and Connor walked Venice together, totally unbothered. I love that they get to experience these amazing places together, just for themselves, off the clock. *whispers in Shane high as a kite* ✨together✨
While I realized it's none of my damn business, I was much more happy not learning about some very deeply personal tidbit of cast member dating life.
Curse those paparazzi, tabloids and blind items ruining the joy for fans...
I'mma be honest, the dating speculation is killing me, state it or don't, enough with the photos cropped and uncropped and what-nots. Till now I dunno why it's bother me so, I mean, I'm fine with Hudson. Connor can date whoever he want, I don't mind.
Then that leaves François, which again, I also understand how much these unwarranted scrutiny kinda affect his image negatively. Like OP, I don't know why the mood kinda die seeing his face now and I don't want that kind of power over me, damn it, I love the actors and the actresses of this show to bits.
I want to like the old guy, I mean, each interview seem to hung on his every words, same with Hudson and Connor, but for some reasons they seem to be taken more seriously when François said it.
Then I guess I hate how loud the press was about this whole thing.
I cannot see how this drama end up for the trio or if it's going to affect the show badly but then again they're grown-ass men so they'll be fine (they got managers don't they?)
I just need to readjust my focus. As a fan of the book and the show, I want to be able to enjoy the upcoming season 2 and 3 in peace and harmony of this chaotic fandom.
So happy with what Hudson was able to do this past week. He proved he pulls major star power on his own. While I think it was already a given Connor could, these past few weeks proved Hudson has it just as much. And not just for HR promo but standing on his own as someone people will show up to see-that’s how movies make money and what will allow him to make a living at what he loves.
While I love seeing him with Connor as much as possible and know more is coming for them as a bonded pair, HR will not last forever and both these talented men have to build identities outside of the show and each other as well to be able to fully showcase their multitude of talents as actors and creators. Shining their stars separately at times is necessary, but after this insane experience together, we also know where they will always land…together.
just finished reheating my rivalry and i can confirm it was not mass hysteria it was really that good
Shane Hollander is lowkey the most heartbreaking character of all time and I’m glad Jacob Tierney recognized that because Rachel Reid certainly didn’t.
Shane’s comphet and compartmentalization of his sexuality and true self outside of a few frantic encounters with Ilya a few times a year is devastating. His refusal to tell anyone in his life - his teammates, his parents, friends he doesn’t have - what he truly wants because he can’t even admit it to himself.
Everything is hockey, everything is brand deals. No, he can’t have a glass of wine because he can’t do anything that’ll potentially impact his performanceon the ice. He can’t date because everything is about his career and when it’s the off season, he locks himself away at his cottage where he spends most of his time alone. Hayden is the closest thing he has to a friend, but if Shane can’t even admit to himself how he feels, how is he supposed to confide in Hayden?
He can have sex with Ilya behind closed doors without words exchanged, but the second it begins to resemble something real, when Ilya starts trying to figure out what Shane really wants, Shane panics and forces himself into a relationship with a woman, because what he has with Ilya doesn’t make sense or fit into any version of himself that he can foresee.
One of the best decisions Jacob Tierney made in the show was showing Shane be intimate with Rose and frame it as devastating and stomach churning. Shane’s performance of heterosexuality is painful. It actively holds him back from being his true self. The book glosses over it and mentions Shane has shitty sex with Rose a couple of times, and doesn’t go into any meaningful detail about how Shane, a gay man in love with another man, forcing himself to have sex with a woman to perform heterosexuality would be extremely difficult and unpleasant for him.
The scene in the show is unpleasant and heartbreaking. We see and feel how much Shane doesn’t want to be doing this, but he feels like he has to.
Shane’s break up with Rose is 10 tens more emotional and impactful in the show than it is in the book, because Shane’s clumsiness with women is not portrayed as a punchline. We see him processing in real time that he can’t just keep faking it. Shane thinks he is good at hiding and compartmentalizing, but it only took Rose two sexual encounters to figure him out. He’s forced to reckon with the fact that he can’t just keep ignoring who he really is and what he really wants.
The scene where we finally get a glimpse into just how painful everything is for Shane is another scene that’s not in the book - Shane’s conversation with Yuna outside.
“I tried. I tried really hard. I just can’t help it.”
Now that he’s finally starting to let go of the performance and separation he’s tried to maintain all of these years - Shane Hollander Hockey Player versus Shane Hollander The Person - he can admit that there’s nothing he can do to change who he is or how he feels, but that will never erase the pain of all those years of trying, of trying to be who his mother wanted him to be and who the MLH wanted him to be. He denied himself the ability to be fully human and fully himself for so long and he’ll never get that time back.
I never want to hear the words “Shane doesn’t have trauma” ever again.

people skipping the sex scenes in heated rivalry is crazy. they're so important to the characters and the plot??? so many important moments are while they're fucking??? also, they're good sex scenes! i saw someone say she skipped the sex scenes bc she's a lesbian and im like what??? you don't have to be into men to appreciate them! i watch gay men having sex the same way i watch sports. i dont want to be in the game but i have fun watching and cheering on the players!
Passed down like folk songs Our love lasts so long
Putting on folklore and evermore album while reading Heated Rivalry and The Long Game was a try-not-to-cry challenge
which I failed.
a man being shoved into plexiglass by another player and then smash cutting to him getting fucked by the same guy. this show is fulfilling fantasies for me that i didn’t even know existed
it took me by a pleasant surprise I must say.
