heard this audio and thought it was perfect for Tom falling first AND harder in Venom or Valor
blorbo from my fanfic (Venom or Valor)
to be honest I think I am fairly average as a writer writing a fairly average quality fanfic (by standards of "good fanfic") and also a fairly average artist (by standards of "good art") but the level of confidence and verve being able to draw and write good gives you is literally indescribable. like at literally all times i am creatively rewarding myself in some way and my interest in one informs the qualities of the other. everyone needs to learn to draw and just gas themselves up nonstop
like there is nothing special about this particular exchange I just grabbed a random chapter and scrolled to a random part of it and I can just draw it like its a meaningful story beat. this makes having an ego unnecessary, because I can glaze myself on command

A different kind of magic
Can’t stop thinking about this post by @avelera talking about the amount of stage magician stuffs in Jayce’s childhood room. He definitely had a whole magician phase and that’s so dorky of him.
Extra:
He’s such a loser. I’m in love with him.
I'll let you drag me to hell If you’ll hold my hand
Thinking of Jayces that doomed their worlds.
Jayce had to go to the suffering pit for months so his final plea to Viktor would be empathetic enough Incorrect, he had to suffer so he'd come back looking so sad, hot, and needy that Viktor would be horny enough to sabotage his own villain arc, lol
Real analysis though, I do think you could argue that sending Jayce back with both (1) new chronic injury and (2) very obviously suffering some Arcane corruption (things Only Viktor could "fix") could be part of old mage Viktor's plan. Given how they met and just the joy Viktor seems to get from being the stable/more confident half of their partnership (always encouraging Jayce to push limits and believe they can change things with Hextech), Jayce needing 'Him Specifically' probably doesn't do so much as push Viktor's buttons as slam them.
Anon holy shit I love these takes. The idea that putting Jayce through The Torment Nexus was not only to get Jayce to really understand what he had to do/what was at stake, but to ALSO make him so Sexy Traumatized that it would drive Viktor to do insane shit and lose the fucking plot is hilarious. I'm gonna be thinking of that for a while.
Also you're absolutely right on Viktor being the stabilizing one (also hilarious considering the "be gay do crimes build laser arms" vibes) and going bugfuck wild over Jayce looking like he needs healing and comfort so much, only to say no.
Wizard Viktor molded Jayce into the ultimate irresistible Viktor Bait, then held him juuust out of Viktor's grabby little hands. Masterful work tbh
*takes drag from my candy cigarette*
Wizard Viktor isn't aiming to save Jayce, himself, or the world. He's hitting timeline after timeline to set them on a path that is doomed BUT ALSO keeps their fates inexorably intertwined
The goal is to get their fates tangled together in a way that doesn't lead to Viktor erasing Jayce into dreamless solitude, fuck whatever else happens
*leaves*
#i remembered that Wizard Viktor is still a Viktor who wrnt into his Villain era and has. some warped ass ethics#but yeah he isnt saving Jayce lmaoooo#also i doubt jayce would be upset at this reading#bc he WAS upset at being given the rune until Viktor revealed it was him#they got types of codependency that havent been conceived of - @linddzz
Yes yes this exaaaaactlyy, Wizard Viktor is still a version of Villain Viktor who left an entire world (or at least a city) as a barren wasteland of death in his pursuit of perfection. Like, if he really just wanted to make the world a better place, he could send himself to every timeline and kill himself (which would doom Jayce either as a child or an adult) but he doesn't do that.
Why does anyone commit acts others would deem unspeakable? For love.
No matter how you look at it, there's evidence that Wizard Viktor is committing an act others would deem unspeakable. He's allow Hextech to happen, Jayce to live, himself to live, all the people that die because of that, all the suffering that happens because of that, to enable universes where he and Jayce still meet, and VIktor is still cured, and they still get to end up together. He doesn't say, "Only you can stop me." Tripping and falling down the stairs could stop him if it happened soon enough. No. He's saying he did all of this because only "[Jayce] can show me this." That the end of his godlike existence only ends in nothingness, unless he is stopped at exactly the right time, in exactly the right way.
And man can't you just fit so many parallels into these bad boys?
Bc it's a much bigger mirror to season1 Jayce having Heimerdinger tell him "you can't use this to heal Viktor. This is power you can't understand, and I've seen it lead to monumental calamity, this could doom the world."
And Jayce's answer was "I know you're my mentor and teacher and have been supportive of me. But I stopped listening at you saying I can't use it to heal Viktor. I have political power now. Fuck you."
Viktor setting Jayce on this path without a by-your-leave from Jayce even mirrors Jayce first breaking promises to use the hexcore on Viktor against Viktor's wishes. Viktor was NOT LYING when he said he could feel a recursive impulse!!!
Arcane posting because THISSSS but also we see in ep7 with the alternative timeline what would happen if Jayce wasn't around for Hextech- because Vi dying in the lab break in probably would've driven Jayce to exile/kill himself out of guilt- and we see as a result how so much conflict is avoided, how the undercity and Piltover thrive together.
Old man wizard Viktor literally looked at a timeline full of hope and peace and went 'none of it matters if you aren't here'
@cottoncaps YEAH the "good timeline" is part of what got me thinking about it!! There is solid proof in the multiverse that without hextech, the world is better!
And Viktor doesn't even find a way to save Jayce as a child in a way that doesn't show off magic (thanks to @avelera btw for pointing out how showy he is while we were going "exaaaactlyyy" at each other.) He goes big and goes showy and makes sure the mage wielding the arcane is seared into Jayce as an obsession (which uh. is ALSO sure something right there lmaooo).
Also those tags sksjsk Francesca by Hozier plays ominously in the distance
PLEASE tell us more about Jayvik being unhealthy about each other, this needs to be talked about more for... scientific reasons (borderline toxic codependency my beloved)
They're honestly such a fun mix of being adorable silly little nerds who could have so many cute domestic scenes, but there is ALSO that Weird About Each Other vibe lurking over them like a sword of codependent damocles, and it's why I'm SO GLAD I waited to see how Season2 played out before I started writing fic with the intent to post it. Romantic, platonic, the shit they do for/because of each other is WILD no matter what flavor their love takes. You see BITS of it in Season one from Jayce when he ousts Heimerdinger, which is done entirely because Jayce believes the Hexcore can save Viktor from his terminal illness and Heimerdinger is in the way of that. Remember that before Viktor gets his prognosis, Jayce was the one proposing Hextech be shut down due to Jinx stealing a gemstone.
There's nothing that has happened to make Jayce less likely to be concerned about the possible danger of Hextech, and the moment where he asks for Hextech to be suspended shows that he's more likely to believe Heimerdinger's cautions. BUT...that goes out the window with no hesitation when he believes it could save Viktor.
And that's the main thread of their devotion to each other, the willingness to put each other before anyone and anything else, including each others wishes. Jayce is at first the most obvious one when he jumps right to breaking his promise to destroy the hexcore so he can save Viktor's life with it. Yeah, he didn't know that it killed Sky at this point, so the betrayal does not seem as dire to him as it would to Viktor at this point, BUT...considering everything else they do, I think knowing about Sky would maybe add like...thirty seconds to Jayce's decision making process. Shooting Viktor isn't just an act to save the world, though that does weigh on him. It's part of saving Viktor from himself, and only done because VIKTOR told him to. It, at first, seems like Jayce is the one with this more unhealthy devotion, where he's willing to put Viktor above everything else, including Viktor's wishes. Viktor is the one who leaves with the goal to pursue ways to actually help people, after all. He is, in that moment, able to put their dream over Jayce. BUT...this moment is Viktor's version of Jayce asking for hextech to be suspended. The snapping point for Jayce was the threat of Viktor dying, remember. (Also Viktor is ready to take Jayce back the SECOND Jayce shows back up. I would bet good money that a solid six-ish months of hearing NOTHING from Jayce spooked him right out of that assertion that their paths had fully diverged lmao) Then we get that phenomenal reveal that Viktor is knowingly dooming timelines, knowingly setting them on a path towards calamity and mutually assured destruction again and again, all with the goal of stopping himself from ending Jayce in a way that keeps their fates connected. Even if that means risking Jayce getting destroyed by him again and again when it doesn't work. And yaknow. Great story. EXCELLENT Literary Romance right there. Definitely not aspirational for real life in the slightest lmaooo
Yanno what, I never even clocked the fact mage!Viktor is dooming an uncountable number of timelines in the desperate hope of saving Jayce. That’s wild and really puts a new spin on how unhinged their codependency truly goes.
It hit me on my second watch of season 2 and i was just
I've been DEEPLY unwell about wizard Viktor ever since
Sat here and combed through all your jayvik analysis posts giggling and kicking my feet but PLEASE tell me more about the whole dom/sub thing, especially the whole “they have absolutely not discussed that this is the dynamic, it just happens and neither of them acknowledge it” because that is genuinely so interesting. Like I could already tell Viktor had hella ‘quiet calm collected dom’ vibes especially compared to jayce’s ‘excited protective puppy who would FOLD at being called a good boy’ energy…
But the whole bit on the bridge where Viktor smacks his hand away without even looking? And Jayce EARNS BACK TOUCHING PRIVELEGES? Fucking scrumptious please tell me more.
god i need to get to writing my fic bc I feel like "talk more about it" would be solved just by me dropping the link This ended up being TOO LONG so I split it between me going feral about that bridge scene and then me going feral at other moments of nonverbal communication that I use to feed my Dom/sub "oh you two are just LIKE THAT" interpretation. So. here's part one
That bridge scene tho...im so normal about it
hhhggg god that bridge scene is one that I rotate in my brain so much because it is such a small moment that makes so much of their dynamic click. For me, specifically, it clicks the "submissive like a guard dog is submissive" dynamic, where Jayce is, on a surface level, the stronger and more forceful of the two while Viktor is the one actually holding the leash (until he's too tired to because he's dying, and I only half joke when I say that their issues at the end of season 1 are because Jayce is suddenly the equivalent of a dog holding it's own leash and getting stressed out about it.
Jayce's touching before the bridge come across as pretty overbearing honestly. He's holding his hand out to keep Viktor from speaking out...
Heck, while the still screenshot doesn't show it too well, Jayce slings an arm around Viktor with enough force that it knocks Viktor off balance for a second and shoves him forward a little.
Viktor got dragged to the hexgate when Jayce is looking into shipping discrepancies happening there, even though it obviously doesn't involve him and he does NOT want to be there.
(In hindsight this is a hilarious bit of showing that it did not occur to either of them that there's no goddamn reason for Viktor to be here. This is council business, Jayce outright says "I'm a councilor now Viktor" which does not answer why tf Viktor needs to be there. these twits just handle all problems as a unit lmao. The tragic flip is that this is could then be a breaking moment when Viktor goes back to the lab, realizing that him and Jayce are not, in actuality, a single unit anymore. because Jayce got a second job that is not Lab With Viktor oh my god you codependent dweebs)
Up until that point it would be really easy to see Jayce as being presumptive and unintentionally overpowering Viktor in personality. Heck, it's what I thought the dynamic was as I was watching Season 1, though even as I thought that it seemed somehow...not quite correct.
And then the bridge scene.
Even before the hand-smack, there's a flip on the reading up to this point that Jayce has been accidentally bowling over Viktor by force of personality/physicality. Jayce comes in hot, upset, angrily standing over Viktor and chewing him out, and Viktor is just like "....and??"
Viktor is calm if baffled and annoyed at Jayce's frustration (also; Viktor just rolling his eyes and shaking his head at the actual riot happening a few yards away? hilarious. i love him.) His almost nonchalantly confused tone when he asks "what difference does that make?" always gets me. the entire back and forth says, to me anyway, that Jayce may be more brash and socially competent, but he's not overpowering Viktor at all, actually.
Viktor is going to do whatever the fuck Viktor wants.
This is immediately made clear by the much beloved hand smack. Viktor doesn't even look up, and his smack shows that he is perfectly capable of setting a hard boundary on Jayce's touching, and that Jayce will IMMEDIATELY fold and apologize when that boundary is set. That smack makes it suddenly clear that when Jayce goes for the shoulder touch right after apologizing, Viktor consciously allows it.
idk WHY but I also love this little tiniest moment when Jayce is going for the second touch. Viktor glances back as Jayce approaches him (looking like a cat with its ears pinned back lmao), then looks away as he accepts the second touch and they move on. It's such a tiny detail of showing Viktor, who is still pretty pissed at Jayce, seeing the touch as it comes in and then deciding to let it happen. im rotating them in my mind. please send help
In my framing of them being a guard dog/handler dynamic, the bridge scene is us seeing a moment of the leash getting a sudden sharp tug to bring the guard dog to heel. It resets all the earlier instances as being ones that Viktor allows to happen, because he doesn't see a need to correct it.
fuck man this doesn't even get into the bridge scene as a major crack between them as the moment Viktor loses his trust that Jayce will understand his decision. i am unwell
Part 2: You Freaks Never Even Discussed This Did You?
So for this bit I mean more that this hypothetical dom/sub dynamic is just...how they live. I think with sex there would at least be SOME discussion to establish safewords if nothing else (partially bc I headcanon Viktor as being at least kink experienced enough to set up a red/yellow/green system), but that said discussion would happen after they got a bit kinky without doing anything as reasonable as laying out boundaries. Bc of course they would.
But my "they'd barely even discuss this dynamic" idea is mostly based on how in sync and attuned they are to each other in canon. These two have so much non-verbal communication as it is, so many of my favorite bits with them are them just doing little glances at each other! Viktor likely never establishes that Jayce can only touch because Viktor lets him touch. Jayce does not need to be told that he has to apologize for stepping out of line.. So many of their interactions are non-verbal, and they clicked immediately onto each other's wavelengths.
From the start, Viktor is a stabilizing force for Jayce. Which is hilarious considering that Viktor is a quiet little agent of chaos, but he's also very self assured and able to keep his cool in stressful situations. Jayce, meanwhile, is an anxious ADHD mess who gets his hackles up at the slightest stress. He needs someone to quietly manage his ass, who he can focus on and look to for quick "am I doing a good job?" validation. Literally, hextech is not possible until Viktor comes in and, when the first try out cranking it, he acts as a calming presence reassuring Jayce.
And instead of doing a beat for beat breakdown of every moment of non-verbal communication they have, I'm just gonna throw these screenshots of another scene I love when they present the new hextech to Heimerdinger. Both Jayce and Viktor have moments where they each initiate glances between them, but Jayce initiates for validation and to share a moment of victory. He looks over with an excited grin and gets the nod from Viktor that makes him grin even bigger like a DORK
Then, Viktor initiates the look, but it’s more of a call for backup this time instead of a need to share a moment/get more validation.
