Making my way through Young Justice (1998) and I just have one question;

Hey, who decided to give MY SON war trauma? I just wanna talk.

Can someone please explain to me what this arc is and what this trauma is? I still don't understand it lol

I'm sure someone eles could explain it better because I'm only following the YJ Comic and have no other guiding context. ANYWAY, there was a very big intergalactic war, right? YJ was recruited to go grab surviving soldiers off the feild and bring them in for medical attention.

Things go sideways durring a mission and they end up somewhere they were not supposed to he, stranded in war territory. Bart, Kon, and Cassie go scout ahead while Tim, Anita, and Lobo stay to fix the ship. (I forgot where Secret was)

The scout group finds something and Bart uses a clone to check it out. Bart's clones can act independently from him, but when they merge back with him, he gains their memories and feelings as if they were his own. Yeah, the scout gets electrocuted and dies right infront of every body, making it so Bart not only watched his own death, but he felt it moments later when it's memories merged back with him.

Then some bad guys capture EVERY ONE and put them in a simulator that made them live through the most terrible things thier brains could think of. This is awfull for everyone period. Most of them had some semblance of a story to thier simulations. Bart's simulator ran nothing but HIS OWN DEATH HE JUST EXPERIENCED ON LOOP FOR HOURS.

Now this part is partially my own interpretation

This is already tramatizing for a 15/16ish year old kid, but Bart doesn't have a good concept of death, being practically raised in a video game. This is one of the first times facing death and mortality in the face.

He did quit being impulse for a while after that.

I just read an amazing TimKon fic and I fricken LOVED this bit!

Context: Kon takes off for three years, feeling forgotten by reality, by his friends, by his family. It takes 2 years of Tim frantically searching for him to send him a birthday gift that has kon feeling e m o t i o n s.
