A simple analysis on the play "Rock Paper Scissors?"
I genuinely think that this play is the closest one to our reality, about how there's the privileged and rich people that take a credit for something a 'commoners' or the poor invented, and then make it as their invention and also monetize it.
The depth of this is actually so good, despite it being a comedy, I'm sure it's very close to our reality, not to mention, Darren, the said greed rich, is also a typical misogynist, coming from a line where his wife suggests something she heard from the peasant girls, and then he proceeds to say "you're a woman" and then after that he continues to talk and when wanting to kill Charlie he just say to his wife to be pretty.
Darren is a character that we often see on our reality, the one who is blinded by greed and the desire of authority...
Charlie here act as an optimistic rich who wants to help, not knowing that Darren, his friend for a long time, wanting to kill him because he wanted the poor to have the same privilege as them.
And then, AJ character here as if describing us as the poor, showing rage toward the rich, desire to destroy them for everything they have done to the poor, for every unfairness from the privilege people.
This unnamed character as if describing every poor people, an optimist, a futurist, who want equal rights for the poor, he's leaning on the people who still maintain their ideology and moral values and rather not to be swayed by money.
While Luke's character here is the brother of this unnamed character, Id describing the poor who easily sway by money, showing the reality of people who wanted to survive and think in a more realistic without any ideology and moral left inside him.
Both characters are the same actually, the difference is just that one wants to demand their rights while the other just wanted to survive by having money.
Like some people who feel guilty when working on a corrupt government place, they want to stay within their ideology, but if they didn't do it, then how would they live?
Luke's character is exactly showing this kind of thing, let the game of rock paper scissors be taken by the rich, so they can get money to survive, it's not just about power, but it's about survival too, the rich are taking credit for something the poor has use and play for such a long time.
Oftentimes that the rich take something from the poor and decided that it's their invention and that it was what they do and came up with.
Charlie is actually showing a depth of someone with high empathy, wanting all of them to have the same rights..
In a way, Charlie is the good side of the rich.
But those kind of people still would never understand and too naive despite their kind nature.
People like Charlie are often being oppressed for not agreeing with the other, people like Charlie are the minority in the majority of the rich.
