Welcome to cafedemic! The only study blog with the ramblings of an overworked high schooler with high ambitions and low work ethic. This is my blog to document my journey from being me to becoming my future self, from being a high schooler to becoming a doctor of neurology, and securing my lifelong dream. Well not really lifelong but my dream nonetheless. Iām looking forward to the day this becomes a full on medblr :)
This blog will be a mixture of my ramblings, posts related to medicine and academics, and my unfiltered studying life. Make no mistake, Iām not here for the aesthetics. Iām not going to post my super fancy notes and stationery. While I love that stuff, Iām here solely to make sure that we as students know that we donāt have to be perfect. We donāt have to be focused on aesthetics. We donāt have to be alone.
So letās chat! Letās be tired together!! Iām looking forward to it!
you can find more about me below :)
If you decided to keep reading, hello hello hello! My name is Jen, and I am singlehandedly the most ambitious yet least motivated high schooler in probably all existence. Itās lovely to meet you!
More about me:
Iām Indian! Tamilian, to be exact. My culture is a huge part of my life, and I love the vibrancy that being Tamilian comes with. The music, the food, the beauty of the Tamil language... Iām lucky to have inherited it :)
Iām surrently (as of 2020) a high school junior. Iād like to be a doctor of neurology some day! Neuroscience is my absolute true love, and right now my dream school is Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.Ā
People like to tell me things. Whether it be problems, little happenings throughout the day, happy feelings... maybe I just have one of those faces
I love to readddddd people think Iām crazy sometimes, but reading is so important to me. Itās such a big part of who I am.Ā
My favorite color is grey. Itās boring, I know. But grey is where itās at for me.
Iām excited to share my journey with you all! If youāve made it this far, reblog and Iāll give you a follow :) I need more active studyblrs on my dash, yk?
just because you might be slower to learn things or itās harder for you to understand things does not mean youāre stupid and it does not mean youāll never be able to get it. Sometimes it just means youāre going about it wrong, maybe you canāt learn like the rest of your class from a textbook, maybe you need someone reading it to you for you to be able to understand. Or maybe it just takes more practice. Whatever you do, donāt give up, you will get there. I believe in you, granted it might take a little longer, but itās so worth it. Donāt give up, youāve got this.
if thereās something I donāt like about education systems is the fact that youāre supposed to memorize concepts, learn definitions in order to pass a course/subject and sometimes thatās unfair to some people. And then what??? I mean, what are you going to do with those concepts after you passed the course?
Donāt get me wrong, i love leaning new things and of course theory is important but... is it really worth it to memorize things only to pass? I think meaningful learning is more important and efficient.
I donāt have the effort to put any actual content out today so...

25 Oct 20 šæ todayās study situation: trying desperately to prove np-completeness for algo (aka introduction to analysis of algorithms) which is definitely my toughest class this semester but Iām doing my best! how are yāall doing?
As opposed to that quote about āthe horrifying ordeal of being known,ā do yāall ever feel so positively UNKNOWN and UNSEEN that it frightens you? Like thereās a self that you feel on the inside, and you believe to be āyou,ā but it seems like nobody else sees that version of you? And theyāre interacting with someone that isnāt you but a projection of their experience of you? Whatās more, perhaps nobody will ever know your true essence and you will die without ever being fully realized????? Iām only two beers in honestly
Blurry photos cause I've had some some blurry days šš
My friend once randomly said "we'll all do great things, or atleast happy things" and I guess that kinda put into perspective what is really important. So I wrote it down - I wrote it down, hoping I'd always remember it.
š¤ Studyblr Community Challenge:
Day 8 - what's the best thing about studyblr?
The best thing is probably how everyone brings their own share of ideas, motivation, guidance to this community. I think that's pretty cool :)
the outside world is frightening at the moment but thereās always time to get lost in books ⯠the lord of the rings was such a delight to read !Ā āš”ļø
i canāt believe weāre all young professionals and academics and weāre still logging on to tumblr.com every single day to clown on ourselves. who let this happen
