Fishing Level: 67
Okay... its not always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes sitting around in the worst of weather can suck. As beautiful as Othard is, it has some of the most unpredictable weather. One minute its all sunny, the next a torrent of rain. I sat in this torrent for a good few hours trying to catch fish.
I returned home with boots filled with mud and water, and the need for some soup. Luckily the Mini Moko Manor always has best in food. Pome keeps the pantry stocked well!
Fishing Level: 66
Well then, I’m not exactly sure how cowboy equipment is supposed to help in fishing... but I guess even cowboys had to fish to survive? Sure?
I guess I’ll call this Calenst’s Cowboy Carp Catching Corner or something... more.. better than that.
Fisher Level: 65
Wow its nice to be out and about in Othard! The air is so clean and the beautiful scenery just keeps going on into the distance! I love fishing around here in the day time. I mean, sure a few tigers will chase me around, but its a small price to pay for such great times of blissful fishing peace.
Level 65 is great, the new gear helps a lot! Though I admit it looks a little silly on me, but hey - whatever it takes to land the big catches!
Fisher Level: 64 Whelp - when you get tired of hooking fish, you might as well stab the snot out of them. Yes my dear friends, yesterday I learned spear fishing had been opened in the Ruby Sea. I was quickly in line to learn how to get my hands dirty with my aquatic acquaintances.
After months of grinding levels on fish being able to get in there and wreck havoc on their own playing field felt downright euphoric! Ahahahaha! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Wow! Its been a long time since my last update, hasn’t it? Maybe a year or a little bit over? Well - what have I been up to since? Dazzling adventures? Crazy Primal Hunts? Deeper Dungeons? Nope! - Retirement!
Yes! I’ve temporarily retired from adventuring to take on the simpler things in life like fishing! I never knew how exhilarating, and sometimes frustrating, fishing could be. I’ve also been mining and cutting logs - but those are to come. For now, enjoy my updates on touring around Eorzea and Othard exploring the lands for its bountiful resources!
Its time for Calenst’s Casting Corner!
Sometimes its just nice to sit around and enjoy any time in the house you can get to yourself. With the Professor, Pome and Gaellin always running around things are always blowing up, or Pome is screaming at someone to stop stealing the last of the desert, or some bucket of armor is sitting in the corner brooding. But sometimes, SOMETIMES, there’s nobody around. You’d think it’d be nice, but its actually one of the most unsettling feelings. Not adventuring, running around, or yelling our heads off is just... unnerving! Bring back the crazy! Bring it back!
Another year has come and gone in Eorzea. Its hard to believe how far we’ve come throughout the years. Always looking forward to fireworks and being together. I wonder what our next year of adventures will bring. Whatever it may be - I’m sure it’ll be great :)
Uh... so there were some interesting events that happened recently in Clan Varas. I’d like to introduce everyone to V’MissMunchyMelons. Miss V’reni went on vacation, and apparently there was some mistakes with paper work. You know how book work goes, things get misplaced here or there and all of a sudden there’s an opening in Clan Varas!
When I’m not around I leave the clan in the care of Professor Shantoto and Pome. Pome is usually there to counter any crazy ideas the Professor has to sent Clan Varas on wild adventures.
This time, the paper work was so out of whack that it seems the Professor and Pome had to find an emergency replacement for Clan Varas. Professor and Pome apparently did some Linkshell interviews and hired someone post haste.
They swear it sounded like a Miqo’te on the linkshell, but when she arrived MissMunchyMelons turned out to be a uh... very fit sex changed Roegadyne. I really didn’t know what to expect when the Professor and Pome shoved a bunch of paperwork into my hands, and screamed a few words to the tune of “Itwasn’tourfaultthepaperworkwentinsanebye!” but there I was... giving the grand tour of Clan Varas to... miss... munchy... melons.

I’m not one for being very attuned to the cosmic changes of the either or anything, but even I feel a change coming. Just in time, I’ve achieved my full Dragoon armor and am ready for the upcoming challenges!

Valentione's Day came once again to Eorza and love was in the air! A series of fortune-tellers were visiting Limsa Lominsa to let their prediction of couple’s fates fly. As we were told of these seers of love - everyone had to pair with someone they had affection to. But alas! Our Free Company does not have a beautiful Miqo’te maiden nor was the cool and hot Finn Fodder on - what was I to do?
Obviously what any sane sexy Hyur would do - I shouted in the middle of Limsa for any fair Miqo’te maiden to come to my side with the promise of chocolate as a reward. With a red sleek outfit and my sexy smile - who wouldn’t be able to resist me?
The answer to that question was the brave, beautiful, and muscular Gort! Together we locked arms and frolicked forth to learn our fortunes! Turns out love and money were our future but alas, once we had finished Gort had to leave for his own grand adventures elsewhere in the realm.
I’ll miss you Gort - beautiful, beautiful Gort.
I should just throw away my Linkpearl for the people at Pharos Sirus. Yes, they called me again. Yes, it was more Kobolds. Though this time they reassured me they had prearranged for a veteran group of adventures to join me to make it fast.
At least they didn’t disappoint in that aspect. I was teamed up with Jiddicus the Paladin, Katya the White Mage and V’Kayles the Dragoon. Now I know what everyone is thinking “V’Kayles? Did she join Clan Varas?!” No, she was part of another tribe that started with a V, just a coincidence there, but she was a very skilled Dragoon!
Jiddicus took lead with a very practiced awareness of the tower, same with Katya as well. When I asked all of them how many time they had been called upon to clear this tower of Kobolds I was met with a number of eye rolls.
These people really need to get their act together to get this tower cleared of Kobolds once and for all! Yet, for veterans like us - I guess it is some easy money. It was a great quick party, and everyone was very pleasant and professional. Sometimes its just a job, right?
I’ve been meaning to post this for a while now but never got around to it! A pair of very nice artists arrived in town. One named Vinty and another named Xib.
I got to spend some time chatting with them and wondered if Vinty would grace me with an art piece commemorating the true start of the Varas Clan.
He agreed to take on the commission and I called over V’alora, V’esna and V’ita to pose for the man. We did a nice pose, and Vinty captured it perfectly! Don’t ya think?
Today I finished collecting all the main pieces of the Dragonlancer’s gear. Holy moly is this armor pointy! Supposedly its to mandate proper form at all times, or else you’ll damn right stab yourself.
Its taken quite a while to get all this, and I still have that silly helmet to go. I hear it folds down and completely blocks your vision! What in the gods names are these people thinking?! Pointy armor and blinding helmets aside, its very fancy looking and does make me feel like a true Dragoon.
I’ll be seeing if I can get it to a slightly different shade of “I will kill dragons”. As intimidating as this color is, I can barely see it when its dark - and instead just frequently feel it stabbing me! Freak’n Dragoons!
More adventuring time! Today I went back into the bowels of that stupid tower that seems to be the bane of Blacksmiths! Once again invaded by Kobolds I was asked to team up with some powerful adventurers. Baledin the White Mage, Demon the Bard, and the oddly named Busty the Paladin.
As strange as her name was, Busty proved to be one of the fiercest Miqo’te I’ve ever seen. She screamed bloody murder the whole time and threw herself at the enemy! It took over six bombs in a row to make her stop her assaults.
But after some brief down time, we picked back up and cleared the whole place. Again. I hope they’re paying me extra, I’m becoming a regular around here!
Sometimes, you just gotta find a place, sit back, and look damn sexy.
I’m starting to document even my daily adventures. ‘Cause something happens every day - I just fail to take notice and write it down. So today, I went back to the Arboretum. I’m currently doing some volunteer work over there guiding new players through its perilous challenges. I was given an assignment today to guide this nice Miqo’te woman named Lieka.
I excitedly pulled up a map of the Arboretum to show her where everything was and she smile politely and nodded her head for a few minutes before I noticed softly stating “Thank you for the effort, but I’ve actually already been briefed by my tour guides.”
Guides?
To my surprise a couple of adventurers named Ohmari and Auhri stepped up and they looked as surprised as me. Apparently there was a mix up in the paperwork, but sure enough Lieka was being shown around by the duo of veteran adventurers!
After a good laugh of the mix up we worked our way through the Arboretum and got Lieka through it without too many bumps and bruises.
So, I’m always on the look out for particularly pretty Miqo’te and what-not, but sometimes the odd ones are just as interesting. I was running around Gridania buying some stuff for fixing one of the chairs in my Catgirl Cafe, when I saw a Miqo’te that was unfamiliar to me.
She was dressed like a native to Gridania, and people even seemed to greet her as such but I had never seen her before. She was located a little northeast of the Yellow Serpent Gate and just sat there eating these sweet buns. She had a whole bag of them!
Now, I’ve seen my share of food craving Miqo’te, like V’Kebbe The Stray is always on the look out for a good sandwich, but this girl had an unhealthy supply of these things! She just stood there and ate, watching the happenings of the world. I asked her, her name but she just walked away uninterested in idle chat I guess.
Maybe I’ll never get her name, and she’s certainly one of the first Miqo’te to just completely ignore me. Maybe I’m losing my touch.
