Jiang Cheng watercolor painting with gold leaf accents. Took a long time with this one but I like how it turned out with a limited color palette (4 colors total) More on my instagram @caleum_art

Something I always remind myself is that the view that Jiang Cheng ends the novels with nothing/all alone/without anyone's respect or care is absolutely false.
He ends the story with hard confirmation (even if it's definitely not true) that Wei Wuxian in particular does not ever want to be in his life again. But really, that's just given him closure for 13 years of searching. 13 years in which he really was the only one who thought he'd come back.
But also, 13 years of growing up, rebuilding his home, training new cultivators and dealing with merchants and other sect leaders and raising Jin Ling and supervising the new generations etc. etc.
We know he's well respected - even if not personally /friendly/ with the other sect leaders. The Jiang clan has always had absolute faith in him, even when he was a scrawny traumatised 17 year old. Jin Ling is more in need of his guidance than ever, and as Zizhen and (presumably) Sizhui or Jingyi move into training for taking over the Lans, all the juniors will get to see his prowess as a leader as well.
We also know he's cared-for. When Jin Ling grabs Jiang Cheng during the second siege as all the adults have their cultivation stunted, his disciples follow after him in concern. All those years spent running things couldn't have been done entirely alone, but it's never shown that JC relies on anyone for particular help (the way that JGY has subordinates or NHS and LXC have either family or sworn brothers.) If they are there, they do their jobs efficiently, if they aren't it's likely a collectivist action to ensure Jiang-zongzhu gets enough sleep and there are towels around if Jin Ling knocks him into the lake.
Not to mention, of all the great sects, Yunmeng is in the strongest position post-canon. Trade hub, the other richest one is without proper leadership, the Nies suffered purposeful bad leadership for a decade, and the Lans are back to having a leader in seclusion PLUS the issue of the Yiling Laozu living there now (which is not a happily ever after imo.)
Tldr; even if the narration glosses over it and WWX never notices, Jiang Cheng has built a life for himself. It's a good life - he's done well. And I'm proud of him.
so, there's no good way to really breach this topic. however, I am going to throw this stone and hope for the best.
Jiang Cheng rebuilt his sect with his own hands. Which means that he had to personally recruit cultivators and convince them that fighting for the Yunmeng Jiang Sect against the Qishan Wen Sect was worth it. This requires an incredible level of social skills and most importantly—skills to understand people so that he can get his message across. Simultaneously, all this requires him to have some form of friendship with his disciples, which means that Jiang Cheng has....friends besides Wei Wuxian! We read the story from WWX's POV so obviously JC's most prominent relationship in the text will be with him! And that's true, they grew up together and WWX's decisions caused heavy problems for the both of them! You cannot disregard their relationship! However, that does not mean that at the end of the novel Jiang Cheng is "friendless" with a threatening personality that scalds anyone who dares to come close. There's no punishment for Jiang Cheng at the end—only understanding of the choices of the other person, and finally a chance to move on from the questions that have been haunting him for years.
I posted this to my insta but forgot to post it here (oops). Here’s the one Saha boy that got more than six whole speaking lines throughout the entire movie.
Next up, DILF Gwi Ma. How I managed to create a humanoid design from a literal talking fire pit, and add a tragic backstory, is beyond me
