So, it’s like this… I don’t buy the whole… ‘oh our relationship failed because we’ve changed’. No. You think couples who have been together for 10+ years don’t change? They progress, together…? Relationships don’t fail because people change, they fail because people give up. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with knowing when you’ve had enough or when you’re just not happy anymore. Failure doesn’t exist to ridicule us, it exists to make us strive for what makes us better, what could be better.

Some people are lucky, some people keep trying, and some people are just happier alone. Honestly, I’m beginning to think I’ve found my soul mate in my best friends. I know who I am when I’m around them, and all insecurities are thrown out. I’m a weird, crazy, loud, and somehow, they’ve still stuck. They get me, when even I don’t get me. And when I’m sad or upset, I know they’ll turn those emotions around.

So, sure, I can’t exactly get in bed and ‘do sex’ with them, but I can get in bed and talk for hours, snore, watch Nick and Norah, Glee, fucked up videos online, get wasted, laugh, cry, eat bomb ass foodz, and wear footie pajamas with them. If that isn’t a soul mate, I don’t know what is.

the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.

news, critics, and fans: um... idk this is just problematic. the creators really fucked up here. these characters are so unlikable and two-dimensional. women deserve better than this. and anyway, why does every show have to have romance these days? the desire to force romance onto shows reflects the myopia and anti-intellectualism of modern television watching

popular m/m ship: the guys get along really well and are twee, funny, and charming, or their relationship is built on quiet insight and respect

news, critics, and fans: the virality of this show speaks to what women truly want in a relationship: EQUALITY! these characters really work hard to earn their level playing ground, and it's so beautiful to see

please, I beg of thee. make something. anything. a story, a sound, a mess.

even if it’s bad. even if you don’t finish. even if it only exists for five minutes and no one sees it.

we forget that watching isn’t the same as understanding. you can stare at art for years and never feel what it costs to make it. appreciation only teaches half the language. the rest comes from touching it.

it isn’t about talent. it’s about resistance. it’s you saying, this is worth the effort, this deserves my time.

you don’t have to be profound. you just have to participate. make something small. break something on purpose. language, color, sound— it’s all the same attempt. an argument against disappearing.

and yeah, it’s frustrating. it’s ugly most of the time. but that’s the trade: you get to touch the inside of meaning for a second.

if you love something, make more of it.
