callie was born to a first-generation immigrant family from bohol, philippines. her family lived in a small town in virginia, usa. callie has always hated it. her parents were abusive. and the town was boring. callie feels more comfortable talking about the boring part, so that's what she tells other people, mostly. it was just a boring town. when she got an acceptance letter from aurora bay college, she jumped at the chance to move to aurora bay. she got offers from more "prestigious" universities too, but aurora bay seemed like a nice middle ground between a small virginia town and the big city. honestly, callie was kinda scared. she's happy to have found her home here over the past several years. currently doing her masters in data science. she also does pageants and sews most of her own dresses and gowns. she has a following online, but not enough to change her life (as much as she wants it to). at the moment, callie is still just a student who works odd jobs to get by. although she wants to become famous someday, she's finding it really easy to just sit back and enjoy life at aurora bay. though sometimes, her emotional issues get the best of her. callie is a huge gossip. very nosy and knows a bunch of stuff about random people. she doesn't consider it gossip, but "research." as for wanted plots, you know the drill: friends, enemies, frenemies, exes, flirtationships, fwb, cousins, schoolmates, etc.!

Lara was writing in her planner when a voice interrupted her, "I--Oh sorry, but no I am not great with selfies, let me move for you." She said as she grabbed her purse and moved it out of the way for the other as she closed the planner.

"Thanks so much," said Callie, in her sing-song voice. As she continued to take pics of herself, she said, "But it's kinda hard to believe you're not great at selfies, though. Your face is actually so gorg. You have like, a model face."

With a curious tilt of his head, Keo tries to decipher if he had stepped into someone's shot or if he had caught a creeper shot being taken redhanded. It's been a simmering lowgrade fear of his since his TikTok screentime had increased, but he's almost certain he hadn't managed to do something embarrassing enough to warrant that just by walking out of the smoothie joint.

The explanation given makes sense, right up until the offer it ends on which makes him laugh from how unexpected it was.

"Let's try to look goofy, 'cause otherwise people might speculate that we've got something going on. Unless you want people to speculate about us? Ooh. Drama always sells," said Callie. "Do you have like, a platform that you're trying to grow?"

Winston was used to being asked to move out of the way. He had heard it all his life from his four older sisters. It usually went in one ear and out the other, and that's what was happening at the moment. A beat later, it finally registered what this woman was getting at. "What do you intend to do with the photos?" Winston asked curiously. He could simply move out of the way as they requested, but a part of him was curious to know the level of vanity they had. One woman scolded him for stepping in her shot while she was pretending to eat a slice of pizza and drink wine just the other day. "How can you be so sure that this is truly the perfect shot?"

"Oh, wow. What do I intend to do with the photos?" She sighed, though she tried to maintain an easygoing smile. "I just want to post them on my account. I'm calliecals on Insta. I didn't want to end up posting a stranger on there without permission, though." She beckoned him to come take a look at her phone screen. "You can see for yourself how good this angle and lighting is!"

She didn't understand the younger generation. The need to continuously document everything, multiple times of day. Even if she wasn't one to shy away from a picture or a good opportunity to get a new profile picture, she didn't see anything spectacular with this background and the girl's outfit. "I'd rather not." "Oh! Oh my God. Thank you," said Callie. She handed the other her phone, getting ready to pose. "Thanks sooo much. Do you want me to credit you in the caption?" She took a moment to arrange the food and drinks on her table in the most visually pleasing way. "Sorry. I've gotta keep things aesthetic, y'know? I'm ready now!"

Keanu thought he’d spotted Callie. The mannerisms were all her and when she turned around to speak to him his hunch had been right. A smile formed on his face before he laughed. “I’ll move, I’ll move,” he said as he threw his hands up in a defensive motion as he got up from the table he’d been chilling at. He definitely didn’t want to be in any pictures. Posing with an ex right after getting a new girlfriend wasn’t the move. He liked Kylee and he wasn’t looking to give her a reason to break up with him yet. “Wouldn’t want to ruin the selfie lighting. How many followers you got now anyways?” Keanu teased lightly. It’d been a while since he’d last seen Callie. It might’ve even been since they broke up but Keanu hadn’t been keeping track. He hoped the silence between them resulted because they simply had nothing left to say and not because she decided she hated his guts.

Callie resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Either Key was freaking out because he was probably dating someone, or he was freaking out because he thought she hated him. Or some mix of both. Yeah, probably that. "I've heard rumors about your love life situation. You know me, always updated." She had a lot of sources in town, and frankly, Key wasn't exactly a closed book. He was pretty easy to know stuff about. "I swear I'm not here to home-wreck. And no, I don't hate you. Thanks for moving." As she took some more photos of herself, she said, "Well, you can just follow me at calliecals on Instagram and TikTok to find out how many followers I've got. Or you can tell anyone else who might be interested. I'm actually almost at a milestone."

Isaac was about to bite into his sandwich as he heard her request. He couldn't help but laugh a little as he tilted his head in confusion. "You want this table for selfies? I don't know, this sandwich looks pretty good." Part of him was teasing, though he couldn't deny his stomach had been rumbling since they placed it in front of him. "Wait, you want me to be in them?"

"Maybe I can just sit still here completely until you finish eating your sandwich," said Callie. The offer was made in earnest. "But, ugh..." She glanced out of the glass walls, saying, "The light's gonna change if you take too long." She eyed the sandwich for a moment, then the guy. "Yeah, why not? I have a lot of followers, you know. Do you wanna be a model or an actor or something? This could give you some exposure."

She wasn't the greatest at this but she was still having fun. With one final putt, she managed to get the ball into the hole. After about five tries. "Hah! Did it!"

Despite the exhausting day she'd had, Callie never lacked the energy to take some selfies. She posed as she pressed the button on her screen to take photos, but froze when she realized someone was near enough to get into the frame. "Hiya," she told the other. "I'm taking some selfies right now, just so you know. Do you wanna like, move away so you don't get in the shot? I mean, I could, but the lighting here's just too good. Unless you wanna join me in the pics too?"

When the kid had first called out 'Miss Beauford', Katrina hadn't been all that surprised. The kids she taught often recognized her in public - it wasn't a huge town after all. But then she'd seen the worry in his features, quickly discovering that he was alone, having been separated from his mother in the busy tourist-filled crowd. He was quickly getting hysterical, Kat having a hard time keeping him calm while also trying to look for someone who could help. Instead, Kat decided to flag down a passer-by, hoping they weren't too busy. Excuse me, hi." All the while, Katrina kept a firm hold of the kid's hand, making sure he didn't get lost again. As much as she wanted to say "I'm sorry, Ma'am, but I'm busy," she couldn't help stopping. Callie found it hard to ignore someone in need, especially when a child was involved. "Uh... sure," she said. "What can I do for you?"

"I'm sure I won't need to explain the concept of determinism to you," said Callie. "But it's not just philosophical; Newton proved that stuff in the future can be predicted by whatever's going on now, too. So sometimes I feel kinda like I've got no control over anything, but then I remember that that's fatalism. Fatalism is just a belief, not a scientific fact. Past circumstances do have an influence on what may happen, but I still think I do have some control over what happens in my life. In short... I'm a compatibilist, I think?"
