A face that I could spend my whole life knowing

Mooncass inspired by the moon photos from the Artemis II mission a couple months back. Instead of blue & black, her hair & suit are white and she has scars with rainbow colors. I took inspiration from a sketch of a moon girl with scars by @birdfrogdraws on twt and an alternate mooncass concept by @ak1tism! I love both their work a lot, so go check them out!

I have a lot to say about this, so more yappings under the cut:

I made this for Pride month, and I just wanted to make a statement with this that Cass will always be seen as a queer icon beloved by the queer community despite what canon says otherwise and despite the amount of unfair hate she's been subject to. Someone also wrote me a letter after the Pride art market a couple weeks ago that they see themself in Cass. That much like her, this person was paranoid and scared if a secret of theirs broke out (in their case, about their relationship with their gf). Or if they did something that's out of the gender norms, like Cass going off handmaiden duty, that their dad would find out and face an uncertain consequence. And when they saw my work, seeing Cass be free to love without fear, it really resonated with them. Reading that letter made such a profound impact on me that people like Cass are so important not just to me, but to every queer woman out there. This is for you, and this is why I do what I doo.

This only took me a day to draw which is absolutely rare for my slow af pace haha but yeah my work schedule has been crazy and I'm glad to have found time to finish it before the month ends. Happy pride once again (and also belated happy yuri day) 🏳️‍🌈💖
