There was a Facebook WoT group post asking which scenes āglossed overā in the books people want to see on screen, but now Iām thinking about WHY those scenes werenāt further developed in the books. RJ has infinite time for dresses but why are some of Matās moments told secondhand, through others or through remembering after the deed is done? Iām thinking about killing Couladin, rescuing the damane from Ebou Dar while kidnapping Tuon. Rand and Perrin seem to get the luxury of being present in their own action. For Mat though, itās as if his narrative is distancing himself from his own heroism. Couladin happened sure but it wasnāt a big deal, we donāt even need to talk about it, we made it out of Ebou Dar but that was in the past, a recent memory. Iām currently on CoT so not yet finished but these were some examples that stood out to me
