So I just finished S1 and S2 of *Interview with the Vampire* and I have some opinions on Louis and want to know what other people think.
For one, I don't understand why people like him. Most of the story, he is indecisive and inactive. He contributed a lot to Claudia's bad relationship with Lestat. His actions create an image of Lestat for Claudia that is lying, manipulative, and abusive. For example, rule No. 6 for Lestat was "no lying or withholding information. If you can fly, you say you can fly!" The first time Lestat drank from him in episode 1, they flew, and I know he might not have remembered, but putting that rule there indicates he constantly and intentionally lies about his powers, while that scene shows us that he doesn't.
He repeatedly used Lestat's fear of being alone to verbally abuse him, knowing that it has so much more impact coming from him.
Even Lestat dragging Claudia back was partially his fault. I know in the end it was Lestat's decision to do that, but Louis's behavior motivated him.
I genuinely think if he tried to leave Lestat, Lestat wouldn't have stopped him, as we saw him let Louis go first after the murder and then with Armand. I believe the only reason Lestat appeared in the trial was that the other vampires were going to kill them even without him showing up. By going there, he saved at least one of them.
I don't understand why Louis agreed to Lestat's murder! Dude, buy a train ticket if you missed it, then plan the murder!
