Physical appearance:

yomi has long black hair with a dusty purple-ish undertone. her eyes are a dark grey and she has a beauty mark under her right eye 🔥 she's the same height as sebastian sallow (which is my way of saying she's tall lmao)

marsena has unruly brown hair that is meant to be wavy but sometimes i don't draw it that way (Ｔ▽Ｔ) he has blue eyes and a freckled face, and he's noticeably taller than garreth weasley.

cecilia has wavy dark brown hair and hazel eyes. she's significantly shorter than sebastian sallow, but noticeably taller than anne sallow.

dunstan has light brown hair and brown eyes. he's barely shorter than his sister, but they look as if they're the same height when standing next to each other. by the end of the school year, he's the same height as ominis gaunt.

Home life:

yomi lives a rich and lavish life with her parents and two younger brothers, twins satsu and tsujin. the dark arts have been practised within the hirashima family for so long that plants wilt around yomi and animals react aggressively when she draws near. satsu and tsujin, unlike the rest of their family, have no interest in using dark magic to inflict direct harm on another person (but they have no issues with areas like necromancy). although yomi doesn't understand it, she accepted this odd choice and continues to love her brothers just as her parents do.

marsena lived an obscure life with his parents and three older brothers, leviathan, dantalion, and ronové. mars' father grew up surrounded by violence, feuds, and power struggles, and neither his enemies nor his family took it well when he abandoned that life. before marsena was born, his brothers (who were barely toddlers at the time) were kidnapped and raised for the next four years with different names and surnames instead of "di angelo" (leviathan accardo, dantalion attilio, ronové favaro) their captors trained them with the intention to use them as weapons to destroy mars' family. but his father, who had been tracking down his sons for the past four years, launched his attack and soon rescued them. while marsena's parents named him after a prince, his brothers' captors named them after demons. the four boys would spend the next decade or so training under their father's guidance and learning all the various ways to kill a person, should they ever need to protect themselves or each other. mars' father would eventually be killed in battle against a rival family before mars' fifteenth birthday, and they would all flee to the UK with hopes to start over and live a humble, bloodless life. thus, marsena began attending hogwarts.

cecilia and dunstan live a quiet life with their father back in ireland. they got their surname from their mother, as their parents never married. but after their mother passed away (succumbing to the whelans' family curse), their father took them in and did his best to alleviate the heartache of the loss. the three of them are all living as happily as they can manage.

Ancient magic:

yomi's ancient magic is spliced with the dark magic in her genes (shoutout to yomi's mother and father). while a magical artifact might be needed to reanimate the dead, yomi has the ability to simply do it on her own, even if she won't realise that for a long while.

marsena's ancient magic is mostly identical to hl's ancient magic system, but it also grants him superhuman speed and enhanced dexterity. mars showed signs when he was little, but at the time his family merely chalked it up to him being hyperactive and sticky-fingered (which he is, but his ancient magic seemed to compliment it greatly)

cecilia's and dunstan's ancient magic is hereditary through the whelan bloodline as part of their family curse. it grants them superhuman strength and heightened empathy. cecilia could punch through a stone wall but she might start crying if one of her friends were feeling even mildly downtrodden. despite the cool bonuses, this "ancient magic" is defective and thus, the whelan siblings are also fated to die rather young (cecilia at 36 and dunstan at 40)

Meta:

* these characters were part of their own original stories long before they were hogwarts legacy mcs 🤯 my main story surrounds the respective descendants of yomi hirashima and cecilia whelan. the oc that marsena was based on, is also a protagonist in the story 🔥

* maybe it was obvious, but marsena and his brothers were based off the teenage mutant ninja turtles 💀💀💀💀 specifically the 2012 iterations. (leviathan "levi" accardo = leonardo, dantalion "dante" attilio = donatello, ronové favaro = raphael (or rafaello), marsena "mars" di angelo = michelangelo) i just miss tmnt lmao

* cecilia and dunstan were named after saint cecilia and saint dunstan, the patron saints of music 🔥

* i feel like i made yomi, cecilia, and dunstan too overpowered lmao 💀 that's part of the reason why i made yomi disappear halfway through her sixth year, and why i gave cecilia and dunstan a set expiration date.

* yomi's name wouldn't be allowed in japan due to its meaning and its kanji characters. this was an intentional choice and a trend within the hirashima family to use forbidden names as to further separate them from normal society. yomi's brothers satsu and tsujin are names that would technically be allowed, but if you put them together, "satsujin" means "murder." a family edgelords, i'll say

taking this as an opportunity for a short blog update 😎

tl;dr - i'm okay, still unwell and doing schoolwork at the same time, but mostly my absence is because i'm working on an original comic series and also my brain's suddenly more interested in other games (i'm still here to stay though, just nowhere near as active as i used to be :D)

anyway thank you for asking :D i left this blog alone for over a month and i didn't think my notifications would be all that busy. i was wrong lmao, i have much catching up to do but i'm very happy that people still like what i do ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜

right now, my body can't make up it's mind about how it's feeling. some days, i feel fine enough to go to school, but most days i'm at home 😔

when i was on the hogwarts legacy train, my mind was exploding with loads of ideas and inspiration for things to draw - but now my focus has shifted to other games and shows, so i can't put as much effort into my hl drawings anymore without boring myself (Ｔ▽Ｔ)

i still want to stay though 😎 i'll continue to draw hl stuff sometimes but i can only manage silly sketches between schoolwork, taking naps, resting, and playing video games ( ◡̀_◡́)🙏

although i did have a look just now, and what bothers me is that whoever's uploading my art to pinterest specifically chose to use my older drawings, and thus i cringe knowing that those things are out there 😰

i'll answer these out of order because the first question will be a long one 🗣

2) unfortunately i'm no expert on women's fashion but i shall try my best 😭

i think yomi's hogwarts uniform is quite casual and maybe a bit tomboyish? it's something about her demeanour i reckon (－_－)

but outside of school, she's rather extravagant 😲

contrary to what the annotations imply, i actually had a lot of fun drawing these ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻) even being a duellist, yomi woul insist upon wearing such long and flowy clothes. i hope red approves 😲

1) blood supremacy 😨

yomi, being pureblood, is naturally "safe" from all the goofy derogatory nonsense. she herself doesn't participate in the whole "pureblood culture" thing, although she'd secretly feel smug just from knowing that everyone automatically considers her "superior" because of how she was born. along with that, she'll only stand up for someone if she was particularly fond of them, like nerida or sebastian. otherwise, she'll turn a blind eye to anyone being bullied for any association with muggles.

marsena is a strange creature overall. he's a half-blood who's very familiar with the magical world, however, he's a bit clueness of the strict social rules of wizard society at his time, so i wonder if others might see him as barbaric and therefore more "muggle-like." marsena is a hard person to offend, although i think this sort of prejudice might get to him if it happens too often; he and his family fled to scotland to escape the people who wanted them dead, so this might make him feel a bit irritated.

cecilia's family name dates back to the middle ages, with one of her ancestors even being a prominent student during the hogwarts founders' time. her family produced loads of musicians, artists, poets, writers, actors, etc. so her surname is fairly familiar amongst wizard families, even though the "whelan" name gradually faded into obscurity and stopped being a pureblood family by the early 1800's. overall, she manages to stay untouched by the snide remarks, just the way she prefers it.

dunstan is very in-touch with wizardkind culture, so others assume that he's "one of them." where marsena is a half-blood who's seen as more "muggle-like," dunstan is a half-blood who's seen as more "wizard-like," and it helps that his family name is already deeply-rooted in magical history. although some purebloods might still turn up their nose at the sight of him, dunstan's mostly managed to fly under the radar and continue being himself.

3) probably marsena 😲 i'm not much of a hugger, but he most definitely is. i could probably just approach him and he'd do all the hugging for me lmao 😭

as for who i'm most compelled to hug, probably cecilia (｡•́︿•̀｡) but i might shake her hand or give her a high-five instead, that might be easier for the both of us haha
