i completely agree with the last anon about leave me breathless and the way you write dialogue! really adds a touch of realism and domesticity (?) in a way that makes your readers feel all fluffy inside :) have a good one bb
re-read my own work sometimes just to gloat to myself abt how much i like how i wrote certain parts & leave me breathless is definitely top tier lmao
Leave me breathless is the best smut ive ever read before like are you KIDDING ME?? Aside from the actual smut itself, the banterâŚthe DIALOUGE amen to it all bravo to you
the BEST smut? my time has come i have ascended beyond this mortal plane i have nowhere to go from here thank you lovely
anyway: dialogue my beloved i live breathe and WORSHIP dialogue
the poet in me screeches anytime i bull shit my way through the actual writing just to get to the dialogue bc iâm like âhehe this would be funnyâ or âthatâs a good joke write that down WRITE THAT DOWNâ
just to let you all know, iâm amending what i have said previously about requests: I DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS
but! if you want to send me an ask for an idea youâve had for me to comment on thatâs fine. maybe iâll take your idea & write a little something with it. maybe iâll expand on it, maybe i wonât; donât expect anything out of it
please donât send me requests like âcan you write thisâ or âthis character x this specific type of readerâ bc i will not be writing them. donât feel bad if you have sent me smth of that nature, i havenât clarified before now
iâm not upset iâm just letting yâall know that i DO NOT take requests but my ask box is open for some chatter hehe
imagine being bradleyâs younger sibling & maverick being âuncle peteâ all while you were growing up. you are not in the navy, you do not use call signs, they do not get to have a problem with you calling them by their names; they are bradley & uncle pete. not bradshaw, not rooster. not mitchell or maverick or even mav
however, you do bust out the call signs for one reason & one reason only: when you absolutely furious directly at one of your boys for a wholly legitimate reason. it does not happen very often at all, but those boys know better than to test you when you call them by their call sign
I just wanted to say that I really love all your Top gun fics (especially Hangman and Duchess) â¤ď¸âđĽ I just wanted to get an insight into jakes mine when he saw Duchess on the beach for the dog fight football scene đĽľ

Well. Shit.
It's the first thought that crosses his mind. Instant. Ridiculous. Almost mortifying, the way that his eyes instantly lock on you, and he finds himself unable to lift them clear.
Your skin is glistening. It makes his throat tighten.
He'd had to fight the wave of envy that twisted amidst his gut when you'd rubbed sun lotion across Rooster's shoulders earlier. And then, when Thumper had spread her hands across your half-bare back to do the same, that jealousy had instantly doubled. Jake wanted it to be him.
He still wants it to be him, almost an hour later.
Wants to feel your body under his hands. Aches to trace the curve of your waist and trail his fingers up between the slope of your breasts; feeling how your sports bra would press flush against your skin. He thinks about the sounds you'd make if he tugged your hair back, forcing you to bare your throat for his lips and pushed himself deep.
God. You're beautiful when you're determined. And fucking hell, it's always the case - but that resolve burns in a simmering ember now, as you prepare to hike the ball back into Phoenix's waiting hands.
Only for a moment, your eyes slide past Payback's opposing form, and brush against Jake's. He sees a flicker of something. The slightest glance down his body. Maybe the sudden flattening of your lips as something hidden ripples across the recesses of your face.
What it could mean is anyone's fucking guess.
But that doesn't matter to him right now. What matters is that you've actually looked. That your body has responded to him in some way. After years of being ignored Jake will take what he can get at this point.
It lingers for a second, swelling the air between you both - before breaking with a shout from Maverick. The play begins. He pushes himself forward, rushing across the sand; wondering if even a small part of you is appreciating all of the damn effort that he's put into his abdominal muscles. Maybe.
Dogfight football is quick and vicious. Too many things going on at once.
A war cry catches in his ear. Banshee. She's like a ghost until she opens her mouth to shriek; a habit that she can't quite seem to quit. It's another exasperating thing about her, alongside the fact that she's largely on track to be elected team leader.
Jake turns just in time to catch sight of her arm winding back to throw the ball. Someone else is rushing forward from behind; ready to catch and intercept. He reacts without thinking, wheeling to lunge into a hard tackle. Electricity sparks down his skin at the contact, and then he instantly knows.
It's you. He knocks you flat onto the sand, falling between your legs.
Only just managing to catch himself above, palms braced against the ground and biceps taut. Your widened eyes display your shock. The light touch of your fingers against the firm plane of his chest drives him wild.
It would be the perfect moment to say something sweet. To maybe show a bare hint of vulnerability - because Jake knows what you think of him. Yet, he's unable. Suddenly stricken with a rare hesitation.
You have power like no one else; can actually hurt him.
And so, his head tilts to the side, projecting a cocky smirk across his lips. "Well, isn't this comfortable?"
Visibly agitated, you scoff, shoving him backward. Jake rises, and for a moment - the faintest sense of deja-vu ripples across his mind. It vanishes instantly as Rooster appears, bending to tug you to your feet. Bradshaw checks that you're alright, before shooting yet another glance back inside the bar.
He's been doing that a lot. Still irritated, Jake debates calling him out on it - an attempt to embarrass him before the pretty young bartender inside. But, before he can, Maverick calls for everyone to line up for the next play.
Shoulders rolling, Hangman slides into position. He's determined to win, this time. To look good in front of you at all costs. And when it starts up again, it seems like he might.
Determination has made him a beast. Unstoppable. Scoring in waves, one after the other; much to the happiness of him and his team. Payback even claps him on the shoulder.
Across the way, your eyes flash in anger.
He grins, almost leering at you. Mocking. All the while, a mantra is playing on loop in his mind - 'Pay attention to me. Look at me. Watch me.' Then, the game starts anew.
Eyes on the sky, Jake rushes back to catch the ball that Yale pitches his way. It's at that exact moment that a loud, urgent shout rings out from behind.
"Shit! Duchess! Your boob has popped out!"
Jake's head snaps around so fast that his neck cracks.
In front, eager hands snatch the ball from right before his chest. Footsteps thud across the scuffling sand. And across the way, your brow arches in confusion, hands running over breasts that are still very much strapped inside of their sports bra. Not on display like he'd half-hoped (and half-feared).
His jaw sets instantly.
Fucking Banshee.
He turns just as cheers break out across the way. Grinning like a fucking devil, she's bounded over the line drawn in the sand.
Shit. Around, his team groans in defeat. They part around him, and Jake stiffens ever so slightly as Payback's hand cracks across his shoulder in admonishment. His lips flatten into a thin line - not enjoying their disdain in the slightest.
Simultaneously, his accusing stare bores into Banshee as she saunters back towards him. The ball tosses aimlessly in her hands as the others prepare to go again.
Unable to help himself, Jake folds his arms. "Pretty sure that's cheating."
Her eyes light up, chest lifting; she's always eager for some verbal sparring. Talented, quick-witted, with an effortless demeanour to match. They've started calling her 'Mini-Mav' for a reason.
"Tactical diversion," she says, shrugging disinterestedly - as infuriatingly impassive as ever. Her head inclines, sharp eyes fixing on his face in calm assessment. "You say that Rooster doesn't fly fast enough, Hangman. But you never quite manage to play it smart. Don't blame me for doing both."
And then, she tosses the ball into his chest - hard. He only barely manages to catch it. Banshee barely pauses to smirk before pushing onward.
A flush spreading across his cheeks, Jake quickly spares a glance towards you. His heart sinks a little when he realizes that you're not even looking at him in the slightest.

A/N: We got Banshee!!! There might be another introduction chapter to her upcoming before we dive into the smut. The more time I spent building her, the more I found her to be such a cool character. Canât wait for everyone to get to know her better!

genre ⤠angst, fluff
âââ
you and phoenix hail from the same squadron
the black aces
she hasnât known you for long
youâre pretty young for a wso, all things considered
it was kind of a combination of your youth and your sometimes annoying but mostly endearing curiosity that led phoenix to adoring you as she does now
however, this affection was not immediate
for a while you were convinced she hated you
and maybe she did a little bit
you were replacing her former back seater who had been with her since flight school all those years ago but was leaving the navy to start a family
in came you: fresh out of tech school and way too eager
you didnât know her routines, her patterns
you had little to no field experience and hadnât even been in a plane all that much prior to getting stationed with her
you were lacking in every department except for theoretical knowledge
you were not her partner
for a long time the two of you upheld this kind of grumpy senior officer, overeager newbie type relationship
you struggled fitting in with the others at first
you were nerdy and awkward and talked too much but you really meant well and were always willing to learn
that had to count for something, right?
you were the comic relief for your squadron
you were happy to be
you didnât care if they laughed at you, at least you made them smile
the bullying wasnât actual bullying
it was teasing at best
like giving your siblings crap for just existing
your team saw and appreciated that you really were trying
to learn to do your job
to learn how to work as a team
to be their friend
to be phoenixâs friend
you thought she was the coolest person youâd ever met
so calm, so level headed, so precise and succinct and talented
sheâd been to top gun!!
she was so cool and you would have done anything for her to just like you
but phoenix
she genuinely held disdain for you
you thought it was all just a joke and that made her dislike you even more
she was ranting about you one night a couple months after you had joined the squadron
it was later on in the evening and youâd heard some of your squad was drinking in the common room
you were barely old enough to drink but you finally could, so you decided to join them
you arrived just in time to hear phoenix ranting about you and how incapable and annoying you were
(phoenix) they just donât know how to do anything, theyâre practically useless. they think everythingâs a joke. they never stop talking just on and on and on like they donât know how to shut up and just do their fucking job. i get a migraine just thinking about them half the time
you did not join them for a drink
in fact, you did not join them for anything after hearing what phoenix had to say about you and the murmur of half-drunk agreements given by your cohorts
you let the distance between yourself and the others grow back to what it once was, no longer fighting a one-sided battle to cross that gap and be accepted by them all
you stopped talking
and
to be completely honest
it terrified phoenix
there was radio silence from you unless you were telling her a trajectory or a location or some useful piece of info
she thought sheâd be relieved the day you finally stopped chattering away the entire time you two were in the air but really it was unsettling
it was too quiet
she didnât like the deafening silence without you filling it with pointless stories and anecdotes, little comments about how pretty the sky was or how cool a maneuver sheâd just done was
she thought you might be sick with how suddenly your demeanor changed
she asked you about it once you were back on the ground from patrol
(phoenix) hey, are you sick or something?
(you) what? no, why?
(phoenix) youâre just weirdly quiet today. iâm not used to being able to hear myself think
this continued for several days
after months of nonstop chatter and excitement from you
after all of the energy and passion you had, all the life you had given this team
the squad felt desolate when you withdrew
like something had scooped out the core of the unit and left it hollow
the whole squadron was worried about you
you had just gottenâŚ.. quiet
very quickly, phoenix realized just how much she actually loved your personality
you werenât always the most serious, but you could make anyone laugh
you were this light that burned so brightly and could make anyoneâs day a thousand times better
you werenât the best at your job, but you were still new and you were trying
you were trying
and she had hated you for it
that wasnât fair to you, and she was incredibly ashamed of how she had treated you
she didn't know how to address it for a while
she hadn't realized you'd heard her that night and was incredibly concerned that smth had happened to you to make you this quiet and withdrawn
idk maybe a family member died or you were struggling w mental health, she really had no idea
she just knew that she was worried about you
she cared about you
she had tried to keep a distance between you two bc she didn't want to replace someone who had been her best friend
she didn't want to move on from what had been so comfortable with her last wso but yet here you were
weaseling into a little place in her heart and doing your goddamn best
the others were just as worried as she was
whenever she brought you up to them they had no answers; no one knew what happened to make you start acting like this
she started by being gentler with you
she didn't demand or expect things of you that you wouldn't know
not because you were incapable, but because you were learning
she tried to be more helpful, explain things more patiently
she started spending some time with you while off duty, being more friendly in general
she wanted you to know she was reaching out a hand
and you were confused as all hell
hadnât phoenix just said that she couldnât stand you and now she was being nice??
it didnât add up
you let it go for a while
then she was asking to get a drink with you on a night off like it was totally normal for the two of you to go out together
(you) are you feeling okay?
(phoenix) yeah, why?
(you) youâve just been⌠really nice lately
(phoenix, laughing) what? is it that weird that i want to grab a drink together? am i not allowed to be nice to you?
(you) itâs just kind of weird consideringâŚ.
(phoenix) considering what?
you mumbled out a little confession of eavesdropping that night
phoneixâs face just dropped
she hadnât really meant that
she wasnât really annoyed at you, she was annoyed at losing her friend
she was holding a grudge for something that was not your fault and she shouldnât have been upset about
you just happened to be the easiest thing to make a scapegoat
and you thought she hated you
(phoenix) god shit iâm so stupid. i am so dumb. i didnâtâ iâm sorry you heard that i was justâ
(you) you were just speaking your mind but itâs fine. i know iâm loud and annoying and overeagerâ
(phoenix) no! no. those are literally everyoneâs favorite things about you!
(you) people likeâŚ. that iâm annoying??
(phoenix) yes, to be honest. itâs endearing in a weird way that i still donât understand. but how talkative you are and how curious you are and how fucking smart you are, it just makes you an amazing person. iâm sorry it took me so long to see it
you went out to drink with her
there were a couple others from the squadron there too
one of them shot a text to the group chat without you in it (y/n supporters anonymous) along with a picture of you beaming while a group of people laughed at something you said
[9:41PM] theyâre back, ladies and gents
you went back to your normal self
your playful banter while up in the air was a sound for sore ears
you made hours long flights so much more bearable
yes, you were genuinely annoying sometimes but you were still one of the funniest, most welcoming, friendliest people phoenix had ever known
you
well
you became phoenixâs best friend
in an âagent of chaosâ x âmom friendâ kind of say
anyone looking at the two of you would think that phoenix canât stand you
but she can, she does, and she will continue to
anyone who has a problem with you can go through her
you are her pain in the ass
no one else gets to say anything about it
a prime example:
hangman
hangman happened to be coming through the base your squadron was calling home for a couple months
you ran into him and went on one of your ramblings about how the double seater f18âs had to be engineered to be able to keep up with the single seat planes during missions despite the extra weight and size of having to fit a second person in the cockpit
he was later complaining to phoenix about âsome smart ass kid who wasted ten minutes of my time talking to me about some engineering bullshit for the f/a-18f that i couldnât care less aboutâ
in walks you from afar
(hangman) god, hide me, i cannot deal with this annoying kid again
(phoenix) i know youâre not talking about y/c/s. i know damn well youâre not talking about my back seater
she shut that down real fast
then stuck hangman with you for a considerably longer tangent about some other nerdy engineering thing you know about f18âs just to make him suffer
hey
being annoying comes in handy sometimes
especially if it irritates hangman
you went to top gun yourself eventually
you were paired with a wso-less pilot and spent your time working together as a team
youâre still good friends with beluga but he just doesnât compare to flying w phoenix
eventually phoenix gets called back to top gun, along with 11 other graduates
you are not among those chosen
phoenix tells you the details she can, including that sheâs been assigned a new back seater for whatever mission theyâre training for
(phoenix) his nameâs bob. literally just bob. like his actual name is his call sign. heâs hilarious, a little shy but sweet. i think i can make it work
you were immediately terrified of getting replaced
she got along so well with bob right off the bat
you had to fight for months for her to just tolerate your presence
she spoke of him so highly, how he was able to so quickly fall into rhythm with her
he was literally everything you werenât when you first got assigned to the black aces
capable, talented, easy to get along with
the best of the best
you hadnât even met the guy and you felt like you would never be able to compare to him
phoenix got chosen to fly the mission
you never doubted that she wouldnât
she came home safe and eventually flew back to the squadron
the black aces went out the night she came back, celebrating her return at a bar your squad often frequented
you felt so out of place
you were happy for her, proud of her
of course you were
and you were elated to have her back
but
youâd gotten it in your head that you werenât good enough
good enough to be pheonixâs back seater
good enough to be a wso
to be in your squad
to do what you do
who are you to do these things and to have people rely on you when you could so easily let them down? when there are so many better options?
phoenix noticed your change in demeanor the second you hesitated to hug her while picking her up from the airport
that is not y/n behavior
you should have been skidding to a stop, throwing the car in park, jumping out of the driverâs seat, and racing to tackle her in a hug
maybe sheâd become a little greedy with your affection
maybe sheâd gotten too used to your undying admiration
but she knew something was going on
she cornered you at the bar when you wandered away from the group
(phoenix) whatâs wrong?
(you) what? nothingâs wrong. why would anything be wrong????
(phoenix) y/c/s
that was really all it took for you to spill your guts and all your insecurities to her
she had this internal conflict of deciding whether to laugh bc of how absurd you sounded or to let her heart shatter a little at how easily you believed sheâd replace you
instead she did the good thing and gave you the assurance you desperately needed
anyone else, she would not have been as gentle
but this is you weâre talking about
that soft spot sheâd developed wouldnât let her react any differently
(phoenix) iâm not gonna replace you. youâre my back seater, y/c/s. you are. and thatâs not gonna change just bc i was stationed somewhere else for two weeks. weâre a team, y/n. you understand?
(you) yeah,,,,,,, itâs weird hearing you call me by my first name
(phoenix) and i will never be doing it again
phoenix is all tough love but thereâs an emphasis on the love part
she rarely if ever will tell you how much you mean to her and how much she cares about you
itâs really through her actions that youâll see it
the little things
coffee just how you like it
tickets for a movie youâve been excited about
calm reminders for things youâre still learning
patience and understanding
she still acts like she canât stand you (and sometimes she canât but a little suffering is worth keeping you around in the long run) but anyone who knows her isnât fooled
you are her weakest point, her softest spot
but sheâll be damned before she admits it
especially to you bc there would be no living that down
be as annoying as you want because phoenixâs affection for you is undying at this point
nothing you could do could change that or make her want to get rid of you
Call sign story destroyed my heart way more that it should have! You are a fantastic writer!! I'd absolutely love to see more pure angst for Bob from you!!âĄâĄâĄ
anon really said âi think bob should suffer lmaoâ đđ
i wouldnât doubt that iâll be writing more angst for this cutie tho

phoenix tells you the details she can, including that sheâs been assigned a new back seater for whatever mission theyâre training for
(phoenix) his nameâs bob. literally just bob. like his actual name is his call sign. heâs hilarious, a little shy but sweet. i think i can make it work
you were immediately terrified of getting replaced
she got along so well with bob right off the bat
you had to fight for months for her to just tolerate your presence
she spoke of him so highly, how he was able to so quickly fall into rhythm with her
he was literally everything you werenât when you first got assigned to the black aces
capable, talented, easy to get along with
the best of the best
you hadnât even met the guy and you felt like you would never be able to compare to him
phoenix got chosen to fly the mission
you never doubted that she wouldnât
she came home safe and eventually flew back to the squadron
the black aces went out the night she came back, celebrating her return at a bar your squad often frequented
you felt so out of place
you were happy for her, proud of her
of course you were
and you were elated to have her back
but
youâd gotten it in your head that you werenât good enough
good enough to be pheonixâs back seater
good enough to be a wso
to be in your squad
to do what you do
who are you to do these things and to have people rely on you when you could so easily let them down? when there are so many better options?
phoenix noticed your change in demeanor the second you hesitated to hug her while picking her up from the airport
that is not y/n behavior
you should have been skidding to a stop, throwing the car in park, jumping out of the driverâs seat, and racing to tackle her in a hug
maybe sheâd become a little greedy with your affection
maybe sheâd gotten too used to your undying admiration
but she knew something was going on
she cornered you at the bar when you wandered away from the group
